Romo had a touch of that too but Dak rarely does whether its his fault or someone else's. Romo has 29 game winning drives. Dak has 23 or 24 for 2nd most. Roger is behind both at 21 or 22. You're really just suffering from rosy retrospection. Romo led the league in his 8 prime seasons with 4th quarter comebacks and GWD's and he was crucified because of his playoff record. We're doing the same thing with Dak. He's not Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen so he sucks, which of course a witless way to evaluate things. Roger the dodger won some titles but he didn't have to comeback that often because he played with the best defenses in Dallas history only arguably was Troy. The franchise is mediocre. We've rarely had the type of team who can win it all. Maybe 2-3 times in the last 30 years was there a team who could have with the right breaks possibly cashed in. That's fucking awful. Regardless, I think we probably lose a lot of these one score games this year. If Dak's healthy, we'll be in the playoff hunt because he's that good but we won't be real contenders. We still gave up 170 rushing yards tonight and in a game where AJB was playing on one leg (as rumored) and still not in game shape, we couldn't stop them in the first half and then we couldn't not stop ourselves in the 2nd with turnovers and bad drops. 17 minutes ago, NotActuallyALonghorn said: That went a lot better than I expected, so maybe there's hope for a season that isn't completely embarrassing. Our defense sucked donkey balls, but they made adjustments and stepped up after the weather delay. Maybe, probably not, but maybe, they learned how to not suck. Offense in general was pretty good until the end, and you can't really fault Dak, even though I don't care for him. With a couple exceptions he played a pretty good game. Offensively, the OL has to figure out these things called stunts..... twists, loops, or knifes. These are things HS teams run. They aren't exotic yet our guys look like they're playing Australian football when they happen. But overall they were pretty good. Philly's got a pretty good secondary and Dak probably goes for 250+ if CeeDee catches a couple of balls. Folks say we ran the ball well and we had some glimpses but without the Miles Sanders run, who should be cut on Saturday, we ran for about 3.5 YPC. Javonte Williams averaged 3.6 YPC and looked like Zeke circa 2022. Sort of painful. Some explain why the let Rico go for Williams again? He just lacks the explosiveness to get through holes quickly. The game went quick because both defenses allowed a lot of yardage and plays in the first half. With Dak, CD and Pickens health, we'll probably be in the playoff hunt, but just too talent deficient to make a real run. Watching some of the DL grow and get better will be interesting. We're a Diggs injury from having the worst secondary in football.

Cowboys were never out of a game and known for exciting comebacks. Romo had a touch of that too but Dak rarely does whether its his fault or someone else's. I must have watched a different Romo era. We found an abundance of ways to lose with him as QB, just like with Dak. He might have had more "flash" but when it counted the most, he failed. Both the Romo and Dak eras are almost identical. Early Romo was basically Dak, but late Romo was pretty good quarterbacking. Unfortunately late Romo was made out of fragile China. At the end of his career, his ability to make subtle moves to avoid sure tackles from his blind side in the box was unparalleled. Unfortunately it wasn't perfect and he would inevitably take a hit that took him out for a while. We need a quarterback to get to that skill level before he gets too old to recover from the game.
September 5Sep 5 Yes the layout after the late arm grab (I think it was a DB arm grab or else it's worse because Lamb was late getting his hands out) was a very difficult play. But the drop before that is a game-losing play on a perfect throw from Prescott. That sets Dallas up at the Philadelphia 20 with over 2 minutes left and all 3 timeouts. The entire playbook is open in 4 down territory. Just an awful, awful drop. If a Texas or Dallas QB had made that bad of a game-losing play people would be bitching about him for years. But because it's a receiver a portion of posters want to redirect to the QB.
September 5Sep 5 Wish that dumbass wouldn’t have spit on Dak to start the game. Wonder what the games look like with him playing
September 5Sep 5 How does Pickens not get more targets tonight? Disappoint. Lamb didn't exactly drop a bunch, but certainly didn't haul in several catchable balls for what he was getting paid for. Disapoint. Shit-eatin' dirty refs? Expected, not exactly disappoint. Williams didn't look totally useless. OK. Sanders busting a big run on his former team, YES! Fumbling the shit away a couple of plays, FUCK!!! Disappoint. Dak? Meh..., looks in good shape, through a few good balls, but you gotta make some shit happen once in a while. Maybe run for a first down? Disappoint. Offensive tackles didn't exactly get totally exposed. Halfway pleasant surprise. This talented young corps of linebackers made a lot of tackles, but all were 6-8 yards downfield. Disappoint. Defensive front. Not disappoint, because it was expected they were not particularly good, especially getting pressure. Would have been nice to have a badass pass rusher that could have made Hurts a bit less comfy. Too bad we don't have one of those. Losing by 4, better than expected. But fuck a bunch of zero fucking points scored in the second half. Disappoint. Couple of big plays and they could have won. There were none to be had. Perhaps if there were more spitting.

They played like the goal was to give the ball back to Philly ASAP and then get the ball back as quickly as possible. They had 3 minutes and 3 time outs, and ran 7 straight passes in hurry up offense. Just stupid strategy. That’s what happens when you hire a zero that NO ONE ELSE was ever going to try to hire.

Same as Dak, 2 wild card wins. I'm not arguing who was more fun to watch, that is a personal preference. Romo was a poor man's Favre. Gunslinger, could make many plays leaving you in awe and then follow up with WTF throws. I mean, along the lines of Quinn Ewers at Texas. Just never consistently put it together to take the next step. Like Ewers never could make it past that semifinal round, Romo was 0-3 in the divisional round. Dak is also 0-3 in the divisional round. Both had #1 seed teams and lost to inferior teams at home in the divisional round. Romo was fun to watch as a Dallas fan when he first came on in 2006 because this was coming off the black hole of Dallas QBs between Aikman and Romo. Coming out of the Dave Campo years. He was new, basically unheard of and hit the scene running. So much potential, especially his first full season as a starter, they got the 1 seed and looked to have a clear path to a Super Bowl. At this time, it had only been about a decade since their last SB appearance. Looked like Dallas could potentially build another era of winning but it never did and Dallas did nothing but spin in mediocrity his entire time here.

Dak needs "help" for 3 straight 12 win seasons. Lol what? They both played in the same environment, with the same shitty coaching and front office who designed the teams the same way for both. It's fine if you prefer Romo over Dak, all you need to say. But to shift narratives and skew reality, nah. Both got you a few wild card wins spread about 5 years apart. Their careers are almost identical as can be. It just comes down to who you prefer. I would have preferred to had a better QB than both of them. Both get you the same results in the end.

Dak has had a couple to deal with(including last year) but during Romo's tenure they were awful. They had 1 year where they were top 10 in Pts given up(2009 #2). most of his time they were mid teens to mid 20's. In Dak's 8 mostly full years(not counting 2020) he's had 5 D's in the top 5-7 in points given up. They do both have playoff failure which is where QB's are generally judged. In that respect they are almost identical.

September 5Sep 5 All Dak has to do to complete the Romo cycle is slide to the booth when he retires and yell “Here we go” at his partner when he gets excited.

The 2nd one wasn't a drop since he had to lay out and it would have been a very difficult catch, but when you make over $30 million a year to play a game you're paid to catch that. I LOVED Romo. Guys on here knew I was a romo guy too...he didn't get a fair shake here, having to win games 41-37 all the time...if he threw one pick late in the game he took ALL the blame even with if he had 500 yards and 5 TD's. I'm worried that what Dak will have to do this year... And I think Dak carried his team just as much. The dudes never had a losing season as a full time starter. And only 1 8-8 season. Also more sustained success with those multiple 13 and 12 win seasons. In the End neither QB was Brady, and they needed to be to drag this sorry as franchise and front office deeper. BOTH guys would have had a TON more success elswhere. 12 hours ago, Gene Parmesan said: Romo single handily kept his teams .500. September 5Sep 5 I am not a Cowboys fan. More like a 'who ever is playing the Cowboys' fan. Not much fun in that these days though. However, if there is one franchise that I absolutely do not want to ever have success, it is the Eagles. Their fanbase is the anal sphincter that makes up the body of NFL fandom. That combined with Einstein spitting on Dak, had me openly cheering for the Cowboys. That had to have felt like the Texas game for a lot of y'all. What if this and what if that.... That is not said to rub salt in the wounds given my first few sentences. Fucking Oklahoma Choker.
