September 6Sep 6 I know he's a piece of shit but man, what a writer and performer he was. Edited September 6Sep 6 by mdmost
September 6Sep 6 Another for the Lord Huron fans. Never released on an album outside of a soundtrack and for some reason hard to even find a decent version on Youtube. I missed the year they played it at Red Rocks. I probably would have broken.
September 6Sep 6 I’ve seen Lord Huron several times – ACL, Moody Theater, Stubbs. They’re fantastic live.

Yeah, it was better when he was just an asshole to everyone and not what he later became towards women. I can't really listen to that album given how he treated Mandy Moore but she came out on the better end of it and he's faded into obscurity. I still listen to his early catalog and have fond memories of the shows I saw of his.

September 9Sep 9 Here’s another one. It’s melancholy with a positive message but it hits right when your heart is aching. It kind of paired with the title track.

September 9Sep 9 Since you brought up Dwight, one could easily add I Sang Dixie and Buenas Noches From a Lonely Room.

September 11Sep 11 This song always makes me feel sad for anyone who never chased their dreams or never even realized they were allowed to have dreams to chase.
September 12Sep 12 Author If you have two hours, you will be rewarded.. If you have 15 minutes you will be rewarded.
September 14Sep 14 So you're mad nobody replied to your PR thread about "the blues" and this chick (who seems quite talented), so you post a link that doesn't appear to link a sad song?
September 14Sep 14 A sad song from my perspective is one that forces me to confront the mundanity of my own existence. Examples include: Plenty of other Boxer-era National songs to choose from.
September 14Sep 14 Some of this thread seems to not match my expectations, but whatever. I think this song is brilliant. It captures the essence of a brief affair and its permanent consequences but it paints it all in the context of every day life. The dude is a genius: Edited September 14Sep 14 by jimmyjazz

I'd never heard that before. Thanks. Since we're on sad songs/NY covers wave...
September 15Sep 15 Maybe one of the most hair raising vocal performances ever. Penned by Pete Ham and Tom Evans of Badfinger.
September 15Sep 15 For me, this was the theme song of the devastation I felt in the summer of 2006. Girl I was kinda sorta dating couldn't make up her mind between me or her ex. She went on a trip with him and I figured I'd lost her forever. The song was especially poignant since her name was / is Grace. In the end, she made up her mind and now she's my wife. But summer of 2006 fucking sucked. Edited September 15Sep 15 by Superhero
September 15Sep 15 Holy shit. That Moreland tune . . . EDIT: look at every face in that crowd. THAT'S a song that connects. Everyone in the audience had lived that. Wow. I need to check out more of his music. Edited September 15Sep 15 by jimmyjazz
