I hope sark is saving the motion and creative plays for Florida and beyond because we look real vanilla. I know we need arch throwing it better but come on sark

I mean, we had 3 Sark 3rd quarters today and still won by 31.  I guess I can't complain... until next week.

If we have such an "offensive guru/genius" hc, shouldn't we be badly blowing teams out like we we're doing in the 00s on a more consistent basis?

Biggest concern has been the biggest concern for damn near 20 years, can't blow people off the ball in the running game

Game was never in doubt. But you expect a preseason #1 team to look like one against San Jose fucking State, and we looked anything but for a majority of the game as we stepped on rakes over and over.

Serious note here.

I think Sark places too much emphasis on what he sees in practice, in terms of "good practice players," but especially in terms of what he thinks his squads can execute in game situations.

A lot of the plays we bitch about would be great if executed properly by the players.  So it seems like Sark consistently overestimates what they can do routinely.

This is really starting to get old.  I don't care who they are playing.

Not depressing at all. I survived the Strong years and just skipping through football season, now.

I didn’t expect that because the preseason rankings don’t matter and after last week we are #7.

Third downs conversions bad, too many penalties, and terrible backup RB performances...

Thank goodness for McJaggerson and Endries

It looked like what it was: a glorified practice.

I agree with this

Did we look like the #7 team to you either? And where are our expectations?

TBH, our offense looks similar to last year but we got better at some areas and worst in others so it offsets itself.

I was in my seats all game.  At Cory Morrow now

Running stairs might improve their concentration on doing things correctly.  The dumb penalties probably occur in practice … but,  apparently without consequences.

At one point, it was mostly confined to a handful of OL, but it's either spreading or the team was really kind of mindfucked today from last week.

Yeah. I can’t tell if we are worse or the same. Ewers would’ve taken a lot of self sacks but also would’ve been better at other things. It seems everything offsets itself. The biggest thing for me, is Ewers always had great wr or 2. Sometimes they may have been quiet during the season, but really turned it on during the playoffs like AD and golden. Manning doesn’t have that luxury, also we probably won’t even make it that far lol.

We also got quite a few no calls today,  could have been worse.

We can’t run vanilla and you think we are saving stuff? Sloppy across the board.

People need to recalibrate their expectations.  The preseason #1 ranking was all based on hype.  This team reminds of me the 2006 team with Colt as a redshirt freshman.  Full of talent and NFL players but green and inexperienced.  I see is dropping 2 more games unless we see big improvement.  The good thing is we have a whole month to work on these things and many are fixable.  Arch needs to work on touch on his balls and some of these WR drops with stop.  He is throwing rockets when he needs touch.  OL has to stop with the penalties.  Simmons has to stop with his penalties as well.  I expect more of the same with good moments and a wtf moments throughout the season.  This will be a totally different team back half of the season.  I just fear the mistakes will cost us more games.

Well to be fair.   We had ONE to start the game.  Penalty pulled it back.  So hey….we tried…..ugh.

positives:

we won
we had a red zone TD
we got 5 turnovers
we held them to 7 points
we scored on the opening drive of the 3rd quarter
we scored a TD in the 3rd quarter

needs work
12 penalties
2 for 12 on 3rd down
red zone turnover
arch keeps throwing the ball to Wingo's feet (probably because he knows if he hits his hands hes gonna drop it)
Sark keeps calling a fucking naked bubble screen behind the LOS, esp on 3rd down.

O Line got worked.
D line needs to learn to start flopping when they are getting pulled back by their shirts.
arch needs to learn what a touch pass is

Our Punt Returner is straight garbage and needs to be kicked off the team-  I think hes made 1 correct move in 2 games, hes had a chance at 13 punts and hes let the ball hit the ground at least 6 times. called fair catch with a wide open field in front of him 4 times, and refused to call fair catch with a dude whos already sniffing his jock hes so close like 3 times.

i never agreed with us being no.1. i couldn’t help but be reminded of the michigan team from last year that was preseason top 5 despite losing so many key players to the nfl. we beat that team in the big house, and they ended up going 6-6. now i’ve never thought that we’ll be anywhere near 6-6, but my expectations were never that we were going to be the best team in the country, especially not right out of the gate.

ive been an outspoken critic of preseason rankings, and a proponent of not even debuting the rankings until the first or second week of october, and these overhauled two-deeps for major programs who pump out nfl talent are a huge reason why. you don’t lose 25 nfl draft picks from your previous two teams, break in a new o line, new qb, rb coming off a missed season, new wr and te room, etc, and just say, “yeah that’ll still be the best team america.”

have we been disappointing? yes. that’s a solid, firm yes. but the folks out there who are extremely angry right now must have bought into that undeserved preseason hype, because imo this team has been mildly disappointing with lots of potential for growth, and not this hopeless, abject failure that so many others apparently see.

People need to calm down.

We lost to a good team on the road by 7. and sloppily overwhelmed a patsy. There are things we need to improve on, but the season is still young.

Sayin currently has zero incompletions and 3 touchdowns in the first quarter so people that said OSU must suck r dumb idoits

On the flip side, Ohio State lost more than us and reloaded and keeps on trucking. That should be our expectation

i won’t be surprised if they look more human at some point. we do have an amazing defense, but they really did struggle to love the ball against us. i think they’ll lose 2 or 3 themselves.
