September 16Sep 16 Author I guess I could add that overnight tent camping to my list. Preferably somewhere that I can take my dog. But I don't really want to stay in a hotel or anything.

There's an identical Woody's on each side of the highway in Centerville, so it's easy no matter if you're going north or south. The only other intel I have is that the peach place in Fairfield you see the signs for is bullshit. Basically a glorified gas station, not worth your time. We also ate at Sam's in Fairfield once and the food was trash and the place depressing. I stopped at the peach place once. The ice cream was OK I guess. But haven’t been compelled to stop again.

September 18Sep 18 Mr. Hamburger in Huntsville makes a pretty dang good burger and onion rings. The Buccees in madisonville is usually not as slammed as other Buccees and a decent spot to piss before the final leg into Houston compared to the Loves across the street.

That in and of itself may not be noteworthy, but if you're ever that kind of tired or need a wake up... My only recommendation of eatery, because it's not your run of the mill joint, is Farmhouse, just south of the courthouse in Huntsville. It looks like a dump outside, but the meals are great southern style home cooking. The desserts are worthy of a try. The first time I went, I thought to myself, "I ain't going in there..." but it was highly recommended from a couple of friends. https://farmhousecafetexas.com/menu/ Made this drive a bazillion times. There ain't much of note that's on it. Do you mean walker county? Because I stopped there once and was greeted by a shackled inmate and two sheriffs with shotguns in the bathroom. Made for an awkward piss.
September 18Sep 18 LOL. That image is killing me. It MIGHT still be Walker County there, but the stop about 10 -15 miles north of Huntsville.
September 19Sep 19 This place was pretty good. Holy Smoke BBQ in Huntsville has a history tied to a church community It was founded by a group of church wives from New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. and I second the ribeyes at Lorena general store.
