And I'll be equally honest (thanks for your honesty and vulnerability as well) in that I think most people that I've talked to about the situation since last week (I literally had someone in my social circle I didn't even know knew who Charlie Kir was tell me he was his hero), they admire Kirk because he was a lion in defending a culturally unpopular belief system and way of life (and one that is impossible to adhere to as human beings on earth, full of hypocripsy and temptations) and they saw him as their champion of faith in a culture that is counter to everything they believe in. In that way maybe we are saying something similiar?

I think that what made him more popular than the other millions who fervently defend faith was that most of these people from what I can tell, aren't the sharpest tools in the shed, and most are addicted to the internet and the algorithm where Charlie Kirk reigned supreme. He was like the Mr. Beast of Christian short form video or something from what I gather in being prolific and popular.

I haven't seen him say or "preach" anything remotely Christian.  He just invokes Christianity constantly.

You either lack the ability to process a conversation and understand context or have not spent any time at all listening to the man other than 2-3 sentences that fit your desired narrative. His whole argument, which is substantiated over and over again in public recorded settings, is that we shouldn't be seeing race when we evaluate human beings. Policies in place that require X% of people being a certain race/gender etc. run counter to that and results in people considering, was this the best person for the job, or were they placed there because of a forced metric.  That is not helpful to or productive for anybody and its wild to me that you can't see the difference between opening doors for people and guaranteeing equal results.  Charlie wanted to be able to trust that the "pilot", black or white, was the best pilot for the job.   Or you can just parrot a complete fabrication of what he actually said and convince yourself that he said black people bad. You do you.

Do you have any idea how long mediocre white men have been taking spots from more qualified women and minorities? Did Charlie Kirk ever complain about that?

Lulz at the idea that any sort of context justifies those two sentences.

Maybe if they're armed and shooting at you.  That would justify it.

What Charlie *actually said* was that if he saw a black pilot, he would hope that guy was qualified.

As if some substantial percentage of black pilots would have failed pilot school if they'd been white.

Because, sure, these airlines that spend gazillions of dollars on liability insurance, marketing, and aircraft are going to bet it all on a less-qualified black man over a more qualified white man.

It's a god awful excuse for an argument.  It's a dog whistle to the racists that is just vague enough to still have idiots like you out there defending it for him.

How come ol' Charlie never expressed his concern about Asian pilots.............?

So you've remained silent for days as this actually happens to those on the left, and then a Surly poster suggests doing the same to the right and you immediately jump on to smugly criticize?

There's the incredulity we know so well.

You become the dominant power structure in the country, beholden to no laws, rules, or norms?  I mean, if we're learning from current circumstances.

Popular vote and current democratic party polling says otherwise.  Smug condescension as a brand hasn’t worked yet.  Keep at it, maybe the worm will turn.

He couldn't even get 50% of the vote. He's never been popular. He lost to Joe Biden.

Yeah some percentage of that 79 million was just voting on the economy.  And that is pretty fucking stupid, too, but it's not evil stupid.  Close, but not quite.

I can't be sure, but I feel pretty strongly if Biden hadn't been saddled with COVID inflation, we wouldn't be in this situation.

That they "quoted" or reproduced or however you want to say it the messages would ordinarily be a data point that their veracity is unimpeachable.  You don't want some collateral fact in the indictment that is easily disproven.

But, we have seen that the Trump Administration continues not to be good at law.

Of course he does, Dave.  He is one of those mediocre white men.

Large  CPG producing “essential goods” companies tried to keep the profit margins going after Covid with price increases. They all did. The Biden inflation was basically the next generations C Suite Bush Iraq war price hikes. When sales slumped companies just offered more sales options to vendors and then backed off as people got used to the new normal. 12 packs of soda are $10 now and they run buy two get three free specials all the time. Trucking rates haven’t changed in years so that’s not it. It’s greed.

I didn't cite to the sources of the inflation, just that it existed while Biden was President.  That's always known to be a real burden on an incumbent.

They are making up shit to fit the story they want in order to do the things they want.

It reminds me of Veep when Selina and Andrew needed a fall guy for the Meyer Fund issue and they tried to blame it Marjorie but she was too smart so they did in Gary. I’m wondering who decided it was Kirk that would need to be the fall guy because Fat Boy is client #1 in the Epstein files? How did that convo go down? Why do I think this? Because Kirk’s killer was a crazy shot. How was that possible to be so accurate?
