A lot of this going around.   I've pretty much decided that this country is totally screwed.   The fact that Kirk was some kind of role model and is now a martyr for the cause means it's over.

These fucking assholes had nothing to say when Sandy Hook and Uvalde happened. They also are unhelpful when help is needed to rebuild those schools, and I have the receipts to prove it. I have lost all faith in my peers. Left and right. Too many people are dug in on online politics. We are fucked. We cannot be trusted with guns.

Yep.  It's over.

Charlie Kirk said in the clip above that black people were better off in the 1940's because they committed less [sic] crimes.

And approximately half of this country is now comparing Charlie's murder to MLK's murder, and they mean it.

This country has become irredeemably stupid.  Everyone with an IQ over 100 needs to get their escape plan together, and quickly.

I grew up in a military family, I went to Texas A&M, I live in San Diego working with the military. Most of my family is pretty well off boomers. And most of my friends partake in shooting and off-roading.

So Baylor is cool with rapes and murders and will even help you cover them up if your free throw percentage is high enough, but taseless tweets are against their Christian mission and will not be abided.

Cool.  So cool.

someone that's going to kill another person isn't going to try and get a gun legally that can be traced to him and he will have no problem getting one illegally just like anyone can easily get any illegal drug. My attempt at sarcasm didn't go over well, If the US could do a reasonably good job at keeping guns away from criminals I would be fine with banning guns but our experience with drugs is criminals have no problem getting endless amounts of illegal drugs and it would be the same for guns.

But it still makes it more difficult, which is an impediment. And people get busted trying to get guns illegally, which is another obstacle. I agree that it would be difficult but more helps, and irrational people post their crimes to social media and YouTube of all places. Irrational people don’t always make the best decisions.

Love the negs.  Why don’t you fellas go spend a little time giving thoughts and prayers to the couple of hundred other people murdered by guns today, including the 3 kids in Colorado and the lady and cop shot in Austin.  Better yet, why don’t you begin to address the problem, by funding some fucking mental health services and maybe looking at revamping our gun laws?  Naw.   Take the money and run. Bitches.  I wear your negs with pride.  They’re kinda like bloated ticks.

One of the evergreen kids just died

The kind of good news is that it was the shooter.

Adding... Couple of fucking heroes here:

Quote

Eighteen students who fled from the shooting took shelter at a home just down the road, after an initial group of them pounded on the door asking for help, resident Don Cygan told 9News.

Cygan, a retired educator familiar with lockdown trainings to prepare for possible shootings, said he took down the names of all the students and the names of the parents who later arrived there to pick them up. His wife, a retired nurse, was able to calm the teens down and treat them for shock, he said.

“I hope they feel like they ran to the right house,” he said.

If we do such a bad job stopping crime then why do we have laws in the first place at all?

He is right Chicken. If I go to the sticks right now saying all kings of hateful shit about rednecks the likelihood that I don't make it back increases exponentially. Does that make it right? No1. However, if you are out there saying hateful shit about just about every demographic besides your own for years, it's just a matter of time. None of us are out there doing that. We work regular jobs and keep our opinions to ourselves.

I'll tell you what: can we just try it for a year? Full background checks, red flag laws, safety and awareness classes, gun safe laws, licensed concealed carry only, the works. If there's not a dramatic fall in shooting deaths--if the kid from Uvalde and other social butterflies are able to Google their local black market gun dealer easily enough--we'll admit to being wrong and never infringe again.

The President of the United States: "For years, those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world's worst mass murderers and criminals. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we're seeing in our country today, and it must stop right now,"

Some guy on MSNBC: “He’s been one of the most divisive, especially divisive younger figures in this, who is constantly sort of pushing this sort of hate speech or sort of aimed at certain groups. And I always go back to, hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. And I think that is the environment we are in. You can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and not expect awful actions to take place. And that’s the unfortunate environment we are in.”

Charlie Kirk strongly identified as a Christian. He was not killed for it. He was killed because he engaged people in the public square, put his shit out there and gave others equal opportunity to put their shit out there. Our political climate doesn't like that sort of thing.

He was killed because at the end of the day, he was a piece of shit grifter making great money stoking the hate machine. That's first and foremost what he cared about. And while he has a right to free speech in this country, he ran a certain risk with all of his inflammatory bullshit. Actions have consequences, and I guess someone had enough of his divisive bullshit. And I hope they find the person that did this and that he faces the full consequences of his actions.

But my opinion of Kirk hasn't changed a one bit. He's like Rush Limbaugh. Fuck him and all he stood for. He didn't give one fuck about unifying this country, that's not where the money is at. The money is in the grift, and the grift was in keeping people angry.

I’ll trade my thoughts and prayers for him and his family for legit gun regulation, even petition Congress 3x a year to put a statue somewhere in his honor if we can have sensible gun regulation. Isn’t political, we are the only developed nation where this shit happens. And the vast majority of people regardless of politics want it to stop. Make it happen and I’ll be the first person to turn in my high capacity clips or magazines or whatever the fuck they are called for my gloc. So let’s stop with the performative bullshit and do something about it.

And that’s the thing troph. These people don’t want change. They don’t want civility, except for whatever fucking transgressions they are carrying out.  They are liars, they are hypocrites, they don’t deserve any better than what they dish out.  That, my friend, is death, deportation, dehumanization.   And maybe a little ass play.  I added that as an insult but it’s probably a Fringe benefit, according to Lindsay Graham.  I dunno man. I need to check with Jeffrey Epstein to figure out how to please these people.

I mean, I assume halfway through he knew he was fucked, but it was too late to abort. But there was no way that was going to fly in today's media.

So do I have this right?

1. An old white man was immediately arrested after the shooting. He was let go after determining he wasn't the shooter.

2. Utah police later arrested another man. The fucking FBI Director states that suspect has been caught.

3. It was determined the second man was also not the shooter. The fucking FBI Director retracts and says shooter is still at large.

4. Crickets since then??

While I admit to not know everything he’s ever said publicly, the crap I get on social media feeds has been mostly him arguing on college campuses against DEI polices or the purposes of the 2nd amendment to protect citizens from a tyrannical government. Is that what people are calling hate speech and racist?

And people are piling on with analogies to mass shootings and mocking his position on the second amendment. This event does not appear to be the same category as school and other mass shootings. The former is mentally ill, or incels, or religious influenced mentally ill, and/or (however you want to categorize it) trans people who are also unstable committing acts of mass murder on victims they don’t directly know. Today was an assassination of one known targeted individual purely on political grounds.
