  • New Gretsch Renown kit in action, Oakland CA.  Thanks, mates!  Sounds awesome.  Such a dorky 70s tilted-two-tom setup, but hey, I can't play drums.

  • Okay I’ll play. Austin era Fibes kit I just picked up. Original owner was Dan Tomlinson (Lyle Lovett). It was my unicorn set and sounds real pretty. And I also added a new Black Beauty snare.

Some have arrived. My initial thoughts are: Fuckn A Just some teasers…..I’ll get more pics later on when it’s all here….show you the full setup and all the cymbals I’m surrounding this kit with

This is much closer to reality than you may realize. The only significant difference is a guitar rather than a keyboard. Chad Jr. and I did a pretty killer version of Iron Man last night considering it was the first time he ever sat behind a set. So it begins.

My first kit was a the same brand! Still have it. Got it in 1998. It was just a basic set tho it was $400 but it sounds killer

Tracked some drums this past weekend at the studio. Lots of fun mic’ing it and recording (with a pro actually calling balls and strikes). Got a good sound. Pics look a little weird behind the kit due to “cleanup” mode to protect the innocent session drummer. 17 total mics, lol. A little bit of preamp, one parallel compression on the kick, and toms/snare through a Bricasti M7 (erotic).

Did you get a new kit?

No, it was the drummer's. A pretty old yamaha kit.

I have a full set of Bricasti M7 convolution reverb samples.  It's about all anyone should ever need.

When you say this, are you referring to Seventh Heaven by Liquidsonics? Or something else? I have Seventh Heaven as well but man, it's just not the same. While I love Seventh Heaven and Cinematic Rooms both, the computer just simply can't replicate that many processors doing its thing. I was actually really happy with SH until using Paul's actual M7 this past weekend and now I'm like "god damnit."

They are convolution reverb patches derived from the M7.  I just use them within Reaverb in Reaper, the "processing" is already done.  I haven't used the Seventh Heaven, though.
