Good luck.

A telecommunication outage caused Federal Aviation Administration air traffic controllers in Dallas to lose radar and some communications Friday afternoon, leading to flights being stopped at the area’s airports.

“The FAA is slowing flights at Dallas Love Field and Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport due to a reported local telephone company equipment issue,” the FAA said in a statement. “The FAA is working with the telephone company to determine the cause.”

Air traffic controllers rely on telecommunications lines from local phone companies to connect their facilities, including the airport towers and the Terminal Radar Approach Control, which handles flights arriving or departing airports.

“We’ve lost all radar and phone communications,” the controller in the Dallas Love Field Air Traffic Control tower said in audio recorded by LiveATC.net. “I’m not departing anybody until we can get a system setup. We have no coms with approach right now,”

“Approach wanted to pass on to you to stop all departures. They can’t get a hold of you. They are having some com issues, I guess,” a Southwest pilot told the Love Field tower.

“Yeah, I think the entire Metroplex just went down,” the controller responded on the radio. “We got a hold of somebody.”

Yea, friend was supposed to be flying to PR this morning, and it got delayed to 4 pm and they just sent a cancellation.

No but I got paid 2 days at time and half to stay home and skip a deadhead for a flight back that cancelled. Christmas card sent to the Ft Worth center IT department.

Engines running and ready to taxi at Arlington when we found out. Shut down and waited it out for 2 hours and ended up postponing until tomorrow morning. Hopefully it'll all be resolved by then.

I was flying back from Kansas after lunch. Fort Worth Center and Lone Star Approach were doing the best they could with this mess.

I've been stuck overnight in Denver 3 flights in a row. Thanks United and US airlines industry.

I flew out of Denver for the first time yesterday. Shit show. I’m still in a bad mood about it

Ha! Great day to take PTO.

At 7 am this morning was informed by Arlington tower that the issues were still ongoing and expect delays like yesterday.🙄  But then at 7:15 whatever was happening had resolved and they were up and running. Had to wait a tad longer waiting for release but took off at 7:30 and otherwise all was normal. Hope they've got it all fixed!

That's my boy

Flew from DFW to HOU Friday morning with plans to return Friday night. After my meeting ended I pulled up CNN and saw the story in OP. Checked AA app who said all was still on schedule, checked FlightAware who was showing a 2+ hour delay. Rented a car and drove back. Called American to tell them I needed to cancel due to the delay. Their response, “Sir, I don’t see a delay, everything is still on schedule”. Ok, great please cancel anyway.  5 minutes later I received an email from AA that there were ATC issues in Dallas. About 15 minutes later a text that the flight had been cancelled. I think I was in Buc-ee’s by then.

Wife was returning from the west coast on Friday and was old just before they were to board that they were delayed.

Hours later they were canceled.

She finally got back yesterday around 5pm.

How much was a one-way rental car? I needed a one-way from Austin to San Antonio about 10 years ago and I think I was charged $350 for a one day, one-way rental.

$225 including prepaying the gas.

We were boarding our flight at DFW when it happened. Had about a 4 hour delay after a 3 hour layover but we were lucky our plane was there or probably would have been totally fucked.
