Surly seems to have aids when it comes to these devices now.  Multiple issues with pages loading improperly, expanding reveals, etc.  it’s pretty much unusable.

Start yesterday or the day before for you too?

And I haven’t updated my phone in that timeframe.

I followed a twitter link a minute ago, and their shit was all kinds of fucked up. I guess it logged me out recently, and the page for the tweet just kept reloading and reloading. Couldn’t get it to stop, but was finally able to click the login button. Of course that page loaded fine, but gee, once logged in so did the initial tweet I was trying to read.

Not sure what changed in some places recently, but it’s not bueno. (Also nothing Imma did, so let’s not beat him up, ok?)

Speaking for myself, I have not updated to 26 yet. I was going to, but then the issue came up the other day in the borked thread, so I've held off.

Update and let me know?

I'll give it a shot, gimme a couple minutes to get situated.

Downloading now. Their servers must be pretty busy, it's taking a minute. Will advise once it's completed and I've checked.

If you can do a quick screen vid and send via DM or post here to see if others confirm the same behavior then I'll work on it for those who didn't upgrade.

too late.

26 does not seem to have the same issue as far as i can tell.

Not sure where the cutoff is on models that can upgrade.

What’s fucked up is I didn’t change anything, but apparently something did with safari or things targeting it.

I will say this: First impression of 26 is that I hate the look of it. All the floaty, transparent shiny shit is annoying, and this floating address bar shit in safari is fucked over.

Can't they just go back to getting shit out of the way and letting people do what they need to?

I have similar problems as thunderlounge. Random log outs, random reloading of pages, go back arrow not going to previous page, more twitter problems. I’m on iOS 18.7. I don’t want to upgrade to iOS 26.

iOS 26 goes me so much anxiety in safari. The tiny little search bar is a pain in the ass.

iOS 18.6.2

Can one of the iOS 18 users do me a favor and clear all sire data and log in again then see if that fixes it?

I did as you asked. No change for IOs 18.7

Hmmm. Have you restarted the phone lately? Others said it fixed itself without upgrade. What threads is it worst on?

Universal. No particular thread more affected than the others.  Just did a restart. No change

That Twitter shit is annoying as fuck. Just reloads and reloads and hitting the back button just cycles through every embedded tweet on whatever page you were last reading. It’s been really bad for the last couple of days. I just end up closing the tab and reopening a new one to break the cycle.

While we’re at it, with the 26 update I’ve noticed with the floating quick nav at the bottom that a) it never docks to the bottom, as it did before (new safari nav at the bottom has to be the underlying cause); and b) clicking one of the icons will instead trigger whatever it is covering below it, vice triggering the icon action (link).

I probably didn’t explain the last one real well. For example, if you’re near the bottom of the page and the quick nav is floating over the bottom fixed nav links. You might end up on the football board instead of  your unread feed because the click triggered the “football” link underneath, and not the “unread” link in the quick nav that’s on top.

Screenshot of the mobile nav bar. It’s covering the submit button. I clicked “unread” in the bar, but it instead triggered the submit button (triggering the red error message for an empty submission.

You can make out the outline of the submit button under the mobile nav bar. The unread icon partially overlaps the underlying submit button.

That’s just plain weird. I’m not even sure how you pull that trick off without intentionally wanting to cause exactly that. Apple really did a number on this one. Things like this, and other issues, are glaring and would have to be ignored in testing to make it through.

Toggle ‘Mobile navigation bar’ off in the icon at top of page between the search glass & light bulb, that will at least solve one issue.

Shit is still painfully slow on iPad for the rest of us though.

That was the first thing I tried. Flipping to landscape to get the unread button to show up top was a drag.

Just have to be mindful of where that bar is in relation to what’s underneath.

I use IOS 18.6 or .7 on both my iPad and IPhone. Maybe one problem on Surly in the last week or so where the Charlie Kirk thread in DT didn’t load. No other problems. iPhone’s a 15 pro max. iPad is an old pro that’s at least five years old.

Mine seems much better. Thanks for your efforts.

Nevermind. Same problems. Might even be worse.

Please use no avatar and report back if your issue persists.

How do you do that?

Bottom of the page there's a themes with a dropdown select no avatar

That seemed to work. Seems like an odd fix. I just don’t understand how you can figure shit like that out.

2 minutes ago, immamac said:

Well that theme is on the old version I didn't update it. This is a workaround for now.

If you switch back is it slow again?

Yes. Random reloads, page crashes, sign out.
