September 24Sep 24 Maybe not. Apparently Peyton hated his visit here and has a long memory. Mackovic and Dahlquist blew it! Peyton members
September 24Sep 24 Peyton didn't hate the visit...he hated the fact that he got there and the coaches acted like they didn't even know he was coming, Mackovic wasn't even there when he came for the visit, and Dahlquist told him he wasn't in their top 5 QB recruits among other things. None of which had squat to do with UT. Maybe he'll come here...maybe he won't...but it will have a lot more to do with Arch's time here than Peytons visit.

John mclane the cheese ball writer not the guy y from the Christmas movie, said Cooper was very interested in coming to UT and Peyton would’ve followed. anyways maybe One Manning is enough

Peyton and Archie scheduled an official visit to UT, showed up and Mackovic wasn't even in town, he was basically ignored because the staff that was there acted like they didn't even know he was coming, Archie had to ask if they could see some film of the offense, and Dahlquist told him he wasn't in their top 5 as a QB recruit. Peyton holds no ill will towards UT, but I'm sure he has serious dislike for Mackovic and Dalhquist among others. John McClane knows the NFL...or at least he still did when I lived in Galveston and he does have a relationship with Peyton, so that all may be true....but any ambivalence Peyton holds from that trip would be with the Coaching staff not the school.

September 25Sep 25 I think the Mannings are more strategic at this point and are going to try a plant their flag across the SEC. There already is a Mannning legacy at Texas, Ole Miss and Tennessee so I would strongly bet that Marshall ends up at another SEC power program like UGA, Bama or Florida. September 25Sep 25 There's probably an unwritten rule that you can't go to a rival of a Manning alma mater, which would rule out UGA, Bama, and OU I'd think. Probably also aggy. Florida might work.
September 25Sep 25 You should do a little digging on Florida/Tennessee while Peyton was QB - in particular Spurrier's comments toward Tennessee. If there is some kind of Manning ban on rivals - and I'm skeptical there is - then Florida would most definitely be off the list.
September 25Sep 25 Georgia isn't really a direct rival of any of those teams. Also, not one of them has stayed home and played at LSU. Is there a story there?

I mean...I think it's the simple answers Grandpa Archie born and raised in Mississippi, stayed home. Eli followed in Dad's footsteps. When Peyton was being recruited, LSU hadn't had a winning record in 6 or 7 years For Arch, it's a combination of Arch being a Texas fan, Sark > Kelly for QB development, and national brand recognition of the University of Texas.
