September 27Sep 27 Could Bartolomé de las Casas have exaggerated claims against Cristopher Columbus in an attempt to stop colonial abuses?

September 27Sep 27 Ah yes, ol Columbus. The same bastard responsible for me spending 3 weeks in the hall during recess when I was in 2nd grade. Fuckin asshole. So were learning about Columbus, teacher lady says blah blah, Columbus arrived, discovered America, met with the Indians…. Wait, wut? So I raise my hand and ask a simple question, “How can someone discover something when somebody else is already there?” Out in the hall at recess, 3 weeks, for being a smart ass.

The pain he brought to the already discovered world extended all the way to you and the price you had to pay.
September 27Sep 27 I read a Sci-Fi book once about what it would be like if the Europeans had never colonized the Americas. The Aztecs ruled all of North and South America and were a space power. I don't remember anything else about the book.

Less a book and more pictures.
September 30Sep 30 apropos of nothing, there's a blurb on the r/badeconomics subreddit which goes like this: "A friend of mine once said: You know what the problem is with being an economist? Everyone has an opinion about the economy. Nobody goes up to a geologist and says, 'Igneous rocks are fucking bullshit.'"

There are weirdos out there promoting the absurd notion that the Earth is only 6,000 years old, using their own fucked up interpretations of the geological record.
