September 28Sep 28 Already fired coaches: Okla State Va Tech UCLA Likely fired: Arky Florida Oregon State Northwestern Fired if they dont get to 10ish wins or make a run/look better: LSU? Michigan USC Baylor? TCU? Ive never seen 1) This many big name programs with possible openings 2) This many big name programs with likely vacancies THIS early in the season Who else am I missing

September 28Sep 28 Elko has the Aggies looking pretty good. He might be looking at Jimbo-money if he keeps it up. Nine or ten wins and the 16-team playoff could put Morbidly Obese Mikey in the money.
September 28Sep 28 Couple weeks ago one of my friends said it could a be a Category 5 shit storm of a coaching carousel and think he is probably right.

September 28Sep 28 I can't see LSU pulling the cord to get rid of Kelly because they are poor but I've been wrong before. They owe him a lot of money Agree. They won’t fire him and pay all that money to roll the dice on a G5 like Sumrall.
September 28Sep 28 Jay Norvell has to be done @ CSU; his buyout is now just $1.5M and they have a new PAC12 media contract starting next year.
September 28Sep 28 Author Likely moving up somewhere: Kinne Traylor Golesh Sumrall Key Silverfield Drinkwitz? (easy ass schedule) Matt Campbell? Eric Morris? Fisch?

September 28Sep 28 Agreed, LSU is going to have to eat shit on Kelly. He’ll fire all of this offensive coaches and attempt once again to reinvent himself. Thank goodness they don’t have a guy that can just write a check. Kiffin should stay put. His daughter is at Ole Miss, and there’s no hump to get over. He’s already beloved there, and they’re happy just being in the hunt every year to every other year.
September 28Sep 28 NC State will be on the carousel too, they're sick of Dave Doeren and just lost to VaTech
September 28Sep 28 Don't think LSU, Michigan or USC are firing their coaches almost absolute meltdowns happen
September 28Sep 28 No mention of the failed Bill Bellichick Experiment? UNC very well could fire him.

In fact, I think all of these teams are pretty solid. I bet none of them finish worse than 8-4 and the only coach who is in any sort of trouble with that record this year is Kelly and the reason LSU is unlikely to move on from him this year has already been covered.

Aside from a higher salary, which obviously isn't nothing, what does Florida have to offer Kiffin that he doesn't already have at Ole Miss?
September 28Sep 28 In 2016-2017 LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Oregon all replaced coaches, among others.
September 28Sep 28 Oh yeah, Auburn could also come open. They still have Georgia, Missouri, Vandy, and Bama. Only Vandy is on the road, but their offense is dogshit and probably won't score more than 20 against any of the three that are at home.
September 28Sep 28 2 minutes ago, BigOrange1 said: Agreed. Aside from a higher salary, which obviously isn't nothing, what does Florida have to offer Kiffin that he doesn't already have at Ole Miss? My impression has been that Florida has much deeper pockets, which is even more important in an age when programs openly pay players. Maybe I’m wrong on that.
September 28Sep 28 2 minutes ago, BigOrange1 said: Agreed. Aside from a higher salary, which obviously isn't nothing, what does Florida have to offer Kiffin that he doesn't already have at Ole Miss? The way Kiffin has things rolling at Ole Miss, it's a lateral move. IMO, Drinkwitz would be a better choice for UF. Younger, innovative offense, likeable. Good fit
September 28Sep 28 3 minutes ago, BigOrange1 said: Agreed. Aside from a higher salary, which obviously isn't nothing, what does Florida have to offer Kiffin that he doesn't already have at Ole Miss? I think most would say the potential to win a NC is greater at Florida than Ole Miss. You can argue how NIL and the portal have changed that, but on the recruiting side at least, Florida is a step up.
September 28Sep 28 Popular Post Elko to pedio state if they fire Franklin would make the next off season enjoyable
September 28Sep 28 Ole Miss has been pretty strong in the portal. Agreed that it's easier to recruit high schoolers to Florida, but if Ole Miss is going to be one of the key players in the portal every year maybe that's a wash?
September 28Sep 28 1 minute ago, leaf said: Elko to pedio state if they fire Franklin would make the next off season enjoyable I'd love this, but Elko is safe at aggy with 8-4 or better. I mean, they could still aggy it up this season but I doubt it. Franklin is safe at 9-3

September 28Sep 28 2023 was a pretty crazy year - Alabama, Michigan, Washington, UCLA, Michigan State, aggy, Mississippi State, Indiana, etc.

Well then, this was worth the risk for UNC - $1 MM is peanuts I guess the has-been was desperate to get back into coaching at any price. The pool is really thin and a wrong step can blow up your program for decades. It’s a lot easier to turn PSU into a 8 win program than turn in regular 10 plus win seasons. He will eventually break through at the right time and the playoff format means you can lose a game like last night.

UCLA sort of. IMO, mid-tier P5 programs have become a lot less attractive absent some super compelling NIL circumstances like Tech. You cannot build a roster, you have to really beat the portal bushes and hope it works out. Jobs like the two OSUs, Northwestern, Arkie are likely career killers.

September 28Sep 28 Jay Norvell has to be done @ CSU; his buyout is now just $1.5M and they have a new PAC12 media contract starting next year. The natives are definitely restless and feel like he's wasting a pretty good defense. Sounds familiar. The program is in the red though, so who knows if they pull the trigger. CU and CSU should be able to recruit better in state and west coast talent, yet fall flat every year.
September 28Sep 28 Brian Kelly has a near-Jimbo level buyout, like $50mm, so I don't think that happens. Michigan, USC, TCU are probably safe too. Solid chance Aranda is out at Baylor. He was on the bubble last year so another bad year probably gets him canned. Auburn is an interesting one. I thought Freeze would do well there but hasn't happened. Stanford currently has an "interim" head coach Frank Reich so I assume they look for a permanent one. He isn't exactly crushing it anyway. On the other side - Fran Brown is going to be a popular name. He claimed he was at Syracuse for life when hired but we'll see... Lastly - can Sark hire Pittman as an analyst to help with the OL? Please?

It’s a very aggy-ish contract — he’s going nowhere.
September 28Sep 28 12 minutes ago, TheStoicPaisano said: Pittman/Napier are dead men walking. Just like Mullen refusing to get a decent defensive coordinator, resulted us losing the Alabama after scoring 40 points, and despite everyone saying, the defense has to get better or you will be gone, Mullins pride and hard headed in this got him fired. The entire fan base was calling for Billy to get an offensive coordinator because our offense and his play calling sucked and was extremely easy for defensive coordinators to prepare for what we were doing, Billy simply refused to give up his play calling. Our defense is good enough this year if you take away the numerous 3 and outs that always leaves them gassed at the end of the game. With all the money they can make, it always amazes me how a coaches ego can ruin a good thing.
