The good news for ol' Art is he's taken a job at a level and location most media won't even bother to cover.

A buddy of mine (UT EE) moved to Palo Alto and lived in what he called a Hacker House. That's all he could afford at the time.

That's my contribution. It's pretty as hell but man it's pricy.

Two friends of mine moved somewhere in that area.  He retired at 50.  It had always been his plan if he invested wisely and those investments didn’t tank with market fluctuations.

The wife still works although remotely and maybe a little bit of travel.  Between their high earnings, investments, and inheritance when her parents passed on (which probably didn’t factor into their decision), they decided to move there.

Time will tell if they stay there a long while or move someplace more affordable later.

This guy watches more college football than anyone alive.   It’s insane how many games he records and watches throughout the week.  I don’t know that he watches any sitcoms or dramas or movies.  It’s all football. 300+ games per season.

Wow, and here I thought he was headed to LSU.  Berkeley getting on the Lane Train!  Damn, the shit people post.

New Belgium probably isn't even in the top 10 of breweries in Fort Collins any more.

I grew up in Amarillo, and lived in Canyon for a while. Eastern NM and West Texas A&M in Canyon are rivals.

This looks like a solid hire for Oregon State.  Vigen replaced Choate when Choate joined the Texas staff in 2021.  Vigen was 47-10 at Montana State.

I guess Jonathan Smith won't be getting fired by Michigan St this year. His buyout must be cost-prohibitive after the Mel Tucker fiasco.

I did a quick search - roughly $30mm.  $500k per month for 5 years.  I actually thought Smith would be competent there.  Funny - some MSU fans were hopeful that Oregon State would take him off their hands.

Do the teams get all the local little town support? Seems like out in the hinterest of hinterlands, this might be the greatest show on Earth. I hope it's true.

That Tucker situation is still up in the air yes?  I know MSU is trying to get away with a "for cause" termination.

Last I checked, it was still unresolved.

I agree that a lot of D1 coaches are the types of highly driven people who often just aren’t nice to be around.

I don’t fault corporate speakers and guests who cut off their hobnobbing at time. Those contracts how they make their money, the fees are spelled out, and I don’t fault an other professional for leaving when their job ends. It’s fine if they are having fun and want to meet and greet, it’s also fine if they call it once they deliver what they agreed to.

Different story if you’re assholish at dinners in your honor or kids events or something.

Oh we're in full agreement. Honestly, if the company I was working for didn't expect me to hang and socialize I'd often bail too. Even though I go to networking events as a part of my career, I dont love them. So, I'd be pretty hypocritical if I expected speakers to want to hang after. That's the very reason Lou Holtz really stood out. He enjoyed engaging with people, answering and asking questions. Genuinely getting to know people in a friendly way. It was cool and unique. (Confession- He even had nice things to say about Texas and Mack Brown but I'm not repeating them for fear of negbalivion. )

I know we've talked about it before, but as someone with family in Canyon I have to grin and make a comment about it when it comes up. Small world and all.

So did OSU and Arky draw straws or something? Golesh’s wife’s family is from that area and might have been the difference. I would have been happy with either but reading about Morris’ QB whispering has me excited for what he’ll bring.

The Pistols Firing podcast said OSU told Golesh the offer and he kind of slow played it, wanted to see how the other jobs would shake out. OSU said "Good luck" and pivoted hard to Morris.

Reads like Morris wanted the OSU job more than Golesh did. Arkansas is a good "consolation prize" for him.

I think people care more about the local high school teams. WT will get some local community attention when they are good, though.

Lane needs to shit or get off the pot. I want to see the avalanche start for real. Hires have already started, just make a decision already.

So 90 million for Lane, 54 million for BK, and 25 million for NIL? LSU has all that?

Roads, schools, and hospitals will suffer for the next decade. Worth it for them , though.

Not from what everyone here has been saying the last few years but evidently they do.  They evidently have more than just the Raising Cain’s guy.

I hope they have a backup plan, for their sake.... actually hope they dont.

Golesh could be a problem 4 us next year in Fayetteville. A czechoslovakian interior designer

Yes, there’s still money to be squeezed from Louisiana hospitals. You obviously don’t get just how important this is.

The great Marshall Faulk is the new coach at HBCU Southern.

Good for him. I forgot he was originally from New Orleans.

I hope he kills it at Southern U.

EDIT:   And Arkansas was going to pay Golesh what he is currently making at USF?

It's better to be under more pressure in the hills of Arkansas than more relaxed on the beach in Tampa Bay.

LOL, what a mess. I was surprised yesterday when the Morris to OSU news was reported then confirmed within a few hours by both schools. I read that it was Morris’ idea to confirm once the news was out to avoid weeks of bs. He’s going to stay with UNT for the postseason. I think Golesh is holding out for Ole Miss.

There were no sidewalks or pavement within 2 miles of my childhood house. A big wheel would’ve been a waste of time and money. Oh, and we were poor. Really poor.

Did you know that he was a fantastic DB...to the extent that everybody but SDSU wanted him to play D.  SDSU said he could play anywhere he wanted.

And he got fucked out of the Heisman.
