Could this be the craziest coaching carousel of all time?

So how the fuck did OkSt lock in the UNT coach, the lone G6 guy that is a QB guru and comes with his own QB, while we are seeing the SEC middlings fighting over the scraps?

Make it make sense? How can’t pig, gator, clan aggy, or barn not provide a better option?

Because Morris saw the last guy hang out for 20 years with only 1 conference title. Just win 8-10 games a year and you can do whatever the fuck you want, while making 7-8 million a year.

They have had 2 great coaches.

That's your entire argument for it being a destination program. That it's similar to Texas that has brought on shit coach after shit coach because of a shitty hiring process.

You're correct, it is similar to Texas in having shit coaches aside from Saban in the past 30 years. It is not a coaching destination. Wasn't before Bear and hasn't been since.

Alabama has had five coaches win an NC, more than any other school. More than Notre Dame. More than OSU. Or Michigan, or USC, or UGA, or UT, or LSU, or Florida. There are two decades (1950s and 1980s) where they didn’t win an NC.  The two best coaches of all-time coached at Bama. Stallings won an NC, a CC, and four divisional championships— a record similar to Mack Brown.  He’s only not a great coach in comparison to Saban or Bear.

@Huckleberry is making a different argument about projecting the future. But it’s just silly to say the most successful program of all time (and maybe 2nd or 3rd most before Saban) hasn’t been a true destination job. More coaches have won bigthere than anywhere else.

So your example of a destination is the number of HCs and someone with a Mack Brown resume.

I'm done here.

No, my example of a destination is the program that has won more NCs with more coaches than any other school. All I am saying is that the program that has been very literally the best program over the past 100 years is a very good place to coach football.

Can we take a second to laugh at Florida for basically hiring Billy Napier 2.0 to replace Billy Napier?

Sumrall is a god-awful hire for Florida. Literally Billy Napier 2.0. Runs the exact same offense, was a one-score wizard at a Louisiana G5 school. All of it.

You want to call it the best program over the last 100 years because of a cheating ass bag man coach in Nick Saban, fine, cool. You got it.

As I said in my last post, there is no solid argument for it being a destination and the rumblings of Deboer already wanting out support it even further.

You love aggie, ND and Bama. It has been noted and supported by you all season long. I get it. We disagree. You can have the last word.

I fucking hate Alabama. And you’re right, except for the fact that they win more than everyone else is my argument.

Can you point to another program that has an argument to be the best?

100% behind this hire!!!!!!!!!

Why are pig and UF doing this to themselves? Hartline and Stein are both right there.

Shit I don’t even know the names of Indiana’s coordinators and they’d still be better hires than Sumrall and Golesh.

Wonder if these Arkansas protesters will have the power to turn around an airplane mid-flight like Texags.

The media collectively using kalshi odds as a legitimate source of who might be hired for a job has to be one of the dumbest parts of the current carousels.

There have been so many guys listed as “favorites” for a job and a week later he never interviewed for the job and was never considered by either side.

Maybe Hartline and Stein don't have interest in those jobs.

We all in agreement that the people who won this past weekend are Sexton and the other agents.

Okay so who the fuck are they going to hire?

It's to the point where I actually respect FSU for just hanging on to Norvell. May as well let the buyout work itself down until there's a better hiring window.

Same with Wisc and Fickell.

This!!!  And it’s not just this years QB, who is an incredible story in itself.

Pat Mahomes

Baker Mayfield

Cam Ward

John Mateer

Chandler Morris  (who has UVA on the doorstep of the CFP)

Hartline is maybe waiting out Penn State? But if Stein said nah I’m good to UF they’ve hit rock bottom.

it's as if the MSU high command woke up this morning, saw all the hubbub surrounding other schools and decided that they needed to get into some of that.

Some stuff on AU forum about Sumrall's agent starting an auction with Fla. Auburn went to Golesh and he accepted. Feel sorry for Sumrall's wife- she probably wanted to return to AU. Looking more at Golesh's history and liking it. Born in Russia (actually Soviet Union) but moved the good ole USA as part of the breakup. He has done very well with offense which we need. Saw comments from Huepel at Tennessee that were very promising on a decent offense. Plus someone posted that the current AU quarterbacks came out of the team meeting with big smiles

Probably looking to avoid searching for a coach in the same cycle as big brother after next season

Consider that Stein is just 36 and Oregon is really he first exposure to all the variables to coaching at the highest level in college football.

There is a big difference between drawing, up, teaching, and calling a successful offense and running that entire program as a HC.

Fully understand if he realizes he is in a great situation at UO,  spends another year or so learning, from Lanning.

We must have seen different Pat Mahomes in college because he was a freak athlete who made dumb decisions at key moments at Tech. Morris was indeed the OC, but how much time did Kliff spend with Pat?

Baker was great at OU, but wasn't Lincoln Riley the OC/QB coach at OU in 2015-16?

Cam Ward was a great athlete, but really raw.

Mateer was a very good athlete, whose mechanics and decisions are worse than Ward.

Chandler Morris is turning 25 in December, has been schooled in the art of quarterback play for over a decade and has worked with both Riley brothers prior to playing a UNT.

Chandler flashed at TCU, but his biggest issue there was staying healthy.

I think Morris is a great hire for Ok State, but I do find that list a bit of a stretch, especially when Mateer is supposedly an example of quarterback development prowess.

well, not exactly "to" as he's already there

Golding I mean

Saw a comment on reddit that Ole Miss gave all of the coaches a raise to stay, so the only guys leaving with Lane are the GM and the strength coach.

If it wasn’t a destination job, Saban doesn’t pick them as his landing spot for his return to college coaching.

no fucking way Penn St. would sniff FItz.  He's got sex-adjacent abuse stink on him.

The Richard G. West account is an annual troll during coaching search season. Heupel may want to start looking around though because the natives are getting restless in Knoxville.

Actually you didn’t.  You might want to check and see who was responsible for recruiting Mateer to Wazzu.  Who talked Tech into taking Baker as a walk-on and begged him to stay, who only saw Cam Ward run the Wing-T offense as a QB but took him on athleticism and a warm-up throw at halftime, and who got Chandler Morris paid $3 mil + at UVA.  You didn’t fix anything, but it was nice attempt at downplaying the career of someone who can obviously evaluate and recruit talent, and develop them when he has them.
