He only ever bitched and complained about it and it is known that he was on the bad side of several donors because of some of his public statements and refusal to engage in fundraising efforts. If we make the right hire I think there will finally be alignment and funding will open up.

Gundy either couldn't or wouldn't get involved in such matters, plus his relations with boosters and fans over the past few years was just horrendous. Coaches are always auditioning for their next gig. Gundy's age + flunking his audition has doomed him. He should have taken the Tennessee gig 10 years ago or so. I figure he will end up on the Fox pregame show News. FIFY Edited September 30Sep 30 by cafe society

He bitched more than Dabo about it.

The HCs who bitch about NIL are the guys who don't wanna schmooze with the money and help fund-raise bc they think they're brilliant strategists. I'm glad Sark hasn't fallen into that trap yet. Of course, our guys do make it a helluva lot easier for him. Edited September 30Sep 30 by DFW Horn

September 30Sep 30 We were talking in the second half of our shit show v Louisville this past Saturday about the job Duzz is doing at Pitt. I said last year that we completely pissed away the ACC championship in Kenny Pickett’s final season. It’s like we are sinking in quicksand with the revolving door of OCs and transfer QBs. Duzz keeps striking out at both. Someone mentioned that the buyout is $20,000,000. I am not sure if that is accurate but, he is not getting it done. Edited September 30Sep 30 by PittsburghTiger

That SMU game was fucking ugly last season and y'all came in ranked. iirc Pitt carried that slide into the rest of the season.

That game is a perfect illustration of where I have issues with Duzz, and his staff. In that game our left tackle was making his first-ever start. Did we give him the help with a tight end, or an H-back? No, we left that kid hung out to dry against a defensive front that was extremely athletic and they beat his ass all day. For me, right now our offense is a “system”, come hell or high water, we are going to stay with “the system”. I am firmly on the side of adjusting your system to fit the roster, rather than trying to force a square piece into a circle hole. The system is bigger than the roster and it should be the other way around.

Luke Fickell has a $25 million buyout that only goes down to $19 million at the end of next season. Either would be the biggest buyout in Big Ten history. UW can't afford to sack him. Besides, they need to replace the AD who goes Fickell first.

October 1Oct 1 My best friend in Seattle went to the UW-tOSU game and sat with the Big Cigars. He said that Jedd Fisch is going to leave Washington at the end of the season. Even though Florida isn't open yet, Fisch has already expressed interest in other jobs, and the Big Cigars really hate him. I hope we hire Ryan Grubb this time.

The family gives alot to the university, just so far they dont care about football. However the Kroenke side of the family own the Rams, avalanche and nuggets. So maybe that side of the family could/would but as stated above they can't NIL and own an NFL team. Oh and another side owns the broncos, i forgot lol They rich. The crazy thing about college sports is that you could say this about pretty much any P4 school in the country. Look at Stanford - wealthiest alumni in P4 but they don't give a shit. Then look at Tech - one weirdo billionaire decides this is his life mission and now they're a major player. I'm willing to bet lots of other "poor" schools have individual alums who could instantly vault them to the top of NIL without breaking a sweat if they wanted. CFB payrolls are peanuts in the grand scheme of the business world and people make insane money in a lot of random industries that don't require a Harvard education. Ex: Kentucky has a 9-billionaire from the founding family of Public Storage. It certainly helps your odds to be someone like Texas with lots of potential big donors, but the "it only takes one" thing is true a lot of places.

Those were after the regular season but I think in all you had openings at LSU, Florida, USC, Oklahoma, Notre Dame maybe Wisconsin was that year too?
