If the Astros traded Jeremy Pena, Jake Meyers, and Mauricio Dubon and came away from the offseason adding Luis Arraez, Drew Rasmussen, Merrill Kelly, Victor Caratini, and 2 really good (Cam Smith level) prospects, how would we feel?

CF Smith

3B Paredes

DH Alvarez

SS Correa

LF Altuve

2B Arraez

1B Walker

C Diaz

RF Sanchez

bench: Urias, Caratini, Melton, Matthews

SP: Brown, Rasmussen, Kelly, Javier, Arrighetti, Pearson

RP: Hader, Abreu, Sousa, King, Okert, De Los Santos, McCullers

I would say the season would be over by mid June.

#354

We would suck worse.

Need power. Even if you add Yordan we still need power.

#355

Yeah man, even just having Sanchez starting in RF .... shudder. I was excited about the guy, but damn. "Raw" is a massive, extremely kind understatement about how far he is from where he needs to be to start every day.

3rd fewest Ks in 2023 and 2024, 7th fewest in 2025.

#2 isn’t a problem.

Rosenthal starting to turn in to an Astros apologist?

I'll take it, but it feels to me more like typical AL East homerism.  I just have a hard time believing the narrative would be the same if Springer just hit that homer as an Astro, sending the Astros back to the Series.

Bregman and Cora benefit from this too, of course.

wtf are 2044/2054, 2048, and 2049 supposed to be?

Nashville, Portland, and I’m going to guess Montreal.

hate to be the 4th expansion team that isn’t going to win a World Series before 2075….(or the Rockies or Brewers or Twins. But good to see the curse of Alex Cora fucking the Red Sox until 2073).

Fair enough but if Montreal gets another team they need to be the expos.  Classic cap and unis.

Mathematically, yeah.

Effectively it would be over before the ink dried.

End of April is a joke. 3 road games in Cleveland come home for a 3 game home stand against the Yankees, then back on the road to Baltimore, then back home for the Pirates. What the fuck is this shit?

The New York Mets are hiring Troy Snitker as their hitting coach, a source confirmed to ESPN, as the club continues to overhaul its coaching staff after a frustrating 2025 season that ended without a postseason berth.

Snitker, 36, previously served as the Houston Astros' hitting coach for seven seasons until he was dismissed earlier this month. He is the son of former Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker, who stepped down from his post after the season.

Troy Snitker will work under Jeff Albert, who was recently promoted from his role as the organization's director of hitting development to director of major league hitting and will be in uniform next season.

Can’t speak for him, but the chance to be associated with Skenes as well as being closer to the Northeast, where he grew up, probably played a role.

#389

Well he'll get to enjoy every 5th day for the next 4 seasons (3 if there's a lockout) before he leaves in free agency.  Maybe less if they trade him early, which is very possible.  I'm sure the Dodgers would love to get him a season or 2 early.
