Maybe, but a healthy org should be seeing junior management hired by other orgs in roles that represent promotions.

I know they are only starting the process of bringing in candidates for these bench and GM/scouting openings, but it’ll be interesting to see if they promote from within and/or which orgs do they hire from (in other words, a lot of comfort hire Atlanta guys might be nothing, might be a red flag).

I think there’s been some atrophy in scouting and coaching so new blood (outside hire) here would be preferable, imo.

Sounds like we are cleaning out the organization of guys that have probably gotten too comfortable. Hopefully this is accountability, but I also don't trust Crane and his cabal of HOFs that know shit about fuck running a MLB organization.

He was a really good one the 3 or 4 months he didn’t before he said fuck that shit. Way better hitting coach than assistant GM.

If Bagwell could make his stance and swing work, he can probably help anyone.  He could be a good coach as long as all authority ends when he’s not in a dugout.

They need to mine Cleveland, Brewers, Dodgers, Jays, and Twins orgs.

They needed the Blue Jays to win to gloss over the $350 million dollar Dodger payroll just buying a series.

The inability to execute fundamental baseball cost the Blue Jays the WS. Bases loaded and 1 out and can't score. Just awful.

George looked really, really, really bad at plate his last 3-4 at bats.

So that was game 4 on Nov 2nd, but this year Game 7 was Nov 1st. Did they move up the schedule for the playoffs?

Just the way the calendar fell. This year  the calendar was the same as 2017 when we won game 7 on Nov 1

that 2022 series also had a rainout and rather than cancelling one of the travel days, they just pushed everything back a day.

Only because you pulled Bichette for fucking Isaiah Kiner Felafel

But who could have predicted that getting cute with defensive replacements and being stuck with Straw and IKF taking huge ABs in extras would burn them?  We only had a 3 hour example of it 6 days previously.

2025 Gold Glover, he stepped up huge last year, all over the field ...

Utility: Mauricio Dubón, Astros

Dubón was the quintessential utility player for Houston in 2025, appearing at seven positions during the season -- left field (48 games), second base (46), shortstop (33), third base (24), center field (17), first base (four) and right field (three). Overall, he finished sixth in MLB with +20 OAA from all positions combined.

bichette was banged up

IKF was on 3rd, didn't take much of a lead (3rd baseman was off the bag). didn't move up as the pitcher committed to throwing a pitch, and fucking slid feet first vs running through or diving in head first into the home plate. he looked like a surly poster on 3rd. if he takes a bigger lead after the ball was released, he scores and game over

epic base running fail

trade him !!!

36. Christian Walker, 1B, Astros | $40MM through 2027

Speaking of Walker, it seems there’s a good chance Houston will try to take a mulligan on this contract in the offseason. The Astros reacquired Carlos Correa at the trade deadline and will install him as their everyday third baseman. That pushes Isaac Paredes off his position. Paredes has some experience at second base but is a better fit at first base. Plus, Houston has to decide where Jose Altuve will play. After saying he’d play left field primarily in 2025, Altuve struggled enough on the grass that he split his time pretty evenly between his new position and his traditional spot at second base.

One could argue that the move here is to trade Paredes, not Walker. He’d fetch a return of some note, whereas the Astros would need to pay down some of Walker’s salary after he turned in a .238/.297/.421 batting line. Walker popped 27 homers, but his overall production was about average on a rate basis, thanks largely to that meager .297 on-base percentage. And, after years of ranking as one of the best defensive first basemen in all of MLB, his defensive grades plummeted in his new surroundings.

There’s no easy way to alleviate this logjam of pricey players, but eating some of Walker’s contract and finding a new home for him would be the best path toward fielding a complete roster in 2026. Walker may very well bounce back — he hit .264/.318/.489 (123 wRC+) in his final 305 plate appearances — but Paredes is younger, more affordable and offers more reliable offense.

It would have been managerial malpractice to leave Bichette in as the potential winning run.  He could barely run.  Kirk might have beaten him in a foot race.

we need to interview him ....

The Red Sox have let go of another key figure in their system, not renewing the contract of scout Todd Claus, per industry sources. He served as co-director of international scouting since 2018, with signings like Rafael Devers, Yoan Moncada, Brayan Bello, and Ceddanne Rafaela.

The Astros will have to start a good bit of roster housekeeping this week. Their 40-man roster is technically at 37 players, but there are eight players on the 60-day IL that must be put back on the 40-man. Some DFAs, outrights or (minor) trades could be coming.

8 on IL - León, Dezenzo, Garcia, Rooney, Walter, Blanco, Wesneski, Ort.

Anderson Brito leads the @MLBazFallLeague with 17.5 SO/9. So far this fall, 21-year-old righty has racked up 22 punchouts and posted a 3.97 ERA in 11.1 IP while limiting opposing hitters to a .154 batting average.

The Astros and RHP Peter Lambert have agreed to a Minor League deal, sources tell @JustBB_MediaLambert, 28, spent 2025 pitching for the Yakult Swallows of NPB, where he posted a 3.98 ERA in 124.1 IP with 111 K's. Previously appeared with the Rockies in parts of 4 MLB seasons.

I suspect Houston is going to trade some of their near-ready young arms in exchange for a ToR SP, so executing signings like this will be important.

Man my son is a senior and the way time has flown by I’ve been an emotional wreck this year. He plays basketball at a 6a school and should start, has a few division 3 offers and is hoping to have a big senior season and get some higher offers. You’re entering the timeframe where it feels like 13 turns into 17 in a blink of an eye. Time sucks. Enjoy it and pour into him everything you’ve got and support his dreams and help him meet every goal. It’s worth it. Good looking young man! Great job dad.

MLB well on the way to becoming the Premier league

The Dodgers winning back to back is breaking people's brains.  They have been outspending the rest of the league for going on a decade now and until October 2024 were mocked for only having the rona WS win to show for it.

Now, Freddie and Mookie are on the downhill and even Shohei will be out of his peak in another few years.  The Mets also seem willing to spend as much if not more.  It will be ok.
