Well it gets us $8M further from the tax threshold this year and next. Semien was moving in the wrong direction and maybe Nimmo has another 120, 130 OPS+ season in him or two. Sure it could fuck us if he falls off a cliff and then we're stuck with a couple bad years - but if you think you're already stuck with bad Semien years then why not roll the dice? I like the move. Hopefully it doesn't blow up in our face.

November 24Nov 24 Nimmo's 0.740 OPS would have been around 4th on the team last year out of the regulars.

November 25Nov 25 Nimmo didn't seem to mind leaving New York. Good for him. Taxes matter. Definitely would be nice to have a more consistent bat in the lineup. Is Josh Smith the default second baseman now?

December 13Dec 13 And a couple arms. Quote Texas Rangers are also in agreement on one-year contracts with right-handed reliever Alexis Díaz and left-hander Tyler Alexander
December 13Dec 13 Meh. Those are definitely "we are obligated to field an actual baseball team this year" moves. Although maybe $15 mil for an average catcher maybe means we're not as poor as we keep claiming publicly.
December 13Dec 13 .215/.321/.399 with 14 HR and 36 RBI in 98 games. $14 for 2 years. I know we're frustrated with Jonah but what is THAT?
December 13Dec 13 2.8 bWAR to 0.4 is a pretty big gap. We were never getting JTR, so it was him or Caratini. Read Tepid's tweet, most Cs suck.
December 13Dec 13 Author Looks like Jansen, just from career averages, is a significant improvement over Heim. Outside of 2023, Heim was real bad. I'm more interested to see if the streak of bringing in random arms continues to pay off without Maddux.

December 17Dec 17 Author Also likely: A couple of 0-pitch outings where he feels a pop while warming up. But he does have great numbers for the last several years. If he can make it out there he'll probably do it again.
Friday at 04:29 PM5 days The most shocking thing in that report is that anyone thinks Seager "talks a lot."
