September 29Sep 29 This should be the swan song of the most iconic animated show in history, but they were renewed through season 40, which is the 2 years following this movie.

September 29Sep 29 When I was a kid The Simpsons was my favorite show ever. One time I was out with my family and we saw a shooting star and my mom told me to make a wish, so I wished The Simpsons would never get canceled. I should have wished to be rich
September 30Sep 30 Fuck yall. Simpsons have shown they can do whatever the fuck they want. Seasons 3-12 are the best things ever put on tv

At one time I could probably reenact every scene from The Shining (shhh...ya wanna get sued?) Treehouse of Horror episode. Smithers: Sir, did you ever stop to think that maybe it was doing this that caused the previous caretakers to go insane and murder their families? Burns: Hmm...perhaps. Tell you what. We come back and everyone's slaughtered, I owe you a Coke.

When I was in HS they had it syndicated on some local channel and would air like 4 eps every afternoon. I filled up about 10 VHS tapes worth of episodes. I'm pretty sure I still have those tapes somewhere.
October 1Oct 1 It’s weird, if someone asked me if I’m a Simpsons fan, I’d say “of course”. And if they asked me the last time I watched a new episode, I would probably have to answer like 2003. I can’t think of anything else even remotely like that.
October 1Oct 1 It really is surreal that it's still going. It's like thinking a close friend or family member died twenty years ago, but then you see them alive and well at the grocery store.

Especially when you say “wow I thought you were dead” and they scream at you “YOU LEFT ME TO DIE IN THAT GRAVEL PIT”.

October 1Oct 1 I don't think I've watched a single minute of the Simpsons after like season 14 (other than the previous movie)
October 1Oct 1 I loved the first 10 seasons but I bailed so long ago I didn't even watch the first Simpsons movie. I would love to watch a few of the excellent episodes from the last 10 years though.
October 1Oct 1 Didn't some superfan put together a watching guide for the could dozen or so episodes worth watching from this millennium?

October 2Oct 2 3-9 for me. On 10/1/2025 at 12:02 PM, Vegas64 said: I loved the first 10 seasons but I bailed so long ago I didn't even watch the first Simpsons movie. Otherwise you won't have any idea what is going on in the movie. If you start now you might be able to get through them by the time the movie releases.

But only if you watch at minimum, 3 episodes a day, since there will be times where you skip a day. edit: oh, new episodes, you could probably get by with 1 per day if you double up on weekends. October 3Oct 3 I haven’t watched the show regularly but I have watched the Halloween specials with zero other background. They are fun. Tried showing the kids. Forgot how rough the first season was. Also, there was a lot more direct sexual references than I remember. We had to stop watching (youngest was 8 ) Edited October 3Oct 3 by UT_OB1
October 3Oct 3 Remember when the show first came out, there were a LOT of people that were really bothered by it? "It'll be the downfall of America. It's a bad influence on kids. It should be rated R." Such simple times back then.

Whenever the Simpsons comes up, my mom likes to bring up how she would encounter angry Anti-Simpsons moms who would be like, "that filth is banned in our household!" And she'd be thinking, "oh...The Simpsons is our family TV night."

That is an.... interesting part of the family.
October 4Oct 4 I’ve kinda tuned out on the Simpsons the last few years because with the exception of Family Guy the rest of the Sunday lineup sucks.
