November 13Nov 13 Where are all the bitches who were shitting on Reed last month. He has been playing great, taking it to the cup and making it, steals and passing. If you don’t see the greatness forming you don’t know ball.

Sarr can play and they’re in the East. They need better lottery luck, but I could see Tre playing in the postseason during his rookie deal.
November 13Nov 13 Toyota Center has the best sight lines of any pro arena I’ve been in. Glad they’re upgrading the seats. I’m sure they’ll start bitching about the luxury boxes soon, but they don’t need a new gym.

Pretty much where we were in year one of Sengun, Green, and Thompson all on the roster accept we had Ime to build culture. The Washington coach is their version of Silas.

November 13Nov 13 Just now, TonyTexas said: They already built a $70M training facility on Old Katy Road. I meant a new arena. Obviously.

November 13Nov 13 Gym is interchangeable for arena, i referenced Toyota Center in the same paragraph, and luxury boxes in the same sentence.
November 13Nov 13 Sarr can really play. Super long and shoots well. Maybe middle class Wemby is the comparison? The Hawks probably want a do over of the 2024 Draft. Sheppard playing lights out. I think they’re playing him about the right amount of minutes right now, but he’s pushing for more.
November 13Nov 13 20 offensive boards on 45 shots Reed with 21 on 11 shots and 25 mins Edited November 13Nov 13 by ChickenSandwich

November 13Nov 13 Reed Sheppard tonight: 21 Points 3 Rebounds 3 Assists 2 Steals 1 Block 8/11 FGM 5/8 3PM +13 +/- 25 Minutes
November 13Nov 13 thanks hardin !!! The James Harden trade package this year: Tari: 12.3 PTS, 66.8 TS%, 53.1 3P%, 5.1 REB, 0.8 STL Reed: 12.2 PTS, 64.8 TS%, 50.0 3P%, 3.2 AST, 1.4 STL
November 13Nov 13 The Hoops Collective made a good Reed point after the Bucks game. Windhorat said that the reason they were excited about Reed at Kentucky was his offensive skill set + playmaking on defense. Steals, blocks, and deflections. I think the game is slowing down for him some and he’s putting his hands and body in the right places on defense to become a disruptor. I don’t he’s ever going to be a lock down defender at his size, but he’s going to blow some shit up.

November 13Nov 13 Amen rules so hard. When we drafted him I was a little worried he and Ausar could be like the Morris twins where they really had an adjustment period to being apart and not playing together. Instead he's just like "if you suck I'll kill you."

November 13Nov 13 Reed is figuring it out. If he can be a 3 machine, it will help cover up his defensive liabilities.
November 13Nov 13 Reed was awful on defense in the Spurs game. He was ball watching several times and his man, Castle a few times, cut to the hoop for an easy pass and layup. He was getting lost in defensive rotations sometimes and the unguarded Spur would cut to the hoop or have an open 3. It was awful, but kind of understandable for a 21 year old second year player. He wasn't supposed to get this many minutes this year and he barely played last year, so he has a steep learning curve. Give him time though, and I think he will be a solid rotation player.
November 13Nov 13 He played solid to ok defense in the first half of the Spurs game, and jump started the offense. He did the same offensively in the second half but botched some defensive rotations (a few in zones) at the worst time. First rookie to have 4 straight games with a TS over 80%. Role player is too low of a ceiling. He is stringing together multiple games where he flashes elite offensive ability. He is already opening up the floor with teams having to respect his shooting.

November 13Nov 13 “I love this team,” Reed Sheppard said. “I love the group of guys that we have. You know, I think we’re just getting started. We’re getting more and more comfortable playing with each other on the court. So I think it’s going to be a lot of fun going forward.”
November 13Nov 13 I'm not sure the Rockets would trade Reed for Castle either. Each player fits where they are, but Reed's offensive ceiling is much higher than Castle's. Castle had a great game last night, but in the last five games playing over 30 mins and averaging 15 shots a game he is 56.3 44.4 42.9 41.7 27.3 % from the field. Athletic defenders who can't shoot are not a rare commodity in the NBA. Edited November 13Nov 13 by ChickenSandwich

That's where I'm at--Castle isn't nearly so complimentary to the current Rockets but he's probably a good bet for a 1b player on a really good team at his peak. If Sheppard had been drafted in a non-lottery pick he'd be the talk of the league.

November 13Nov 13 I think Sheppard's ceiling is 6MOY. I just think his size and man defensive limitations will keep from being a 75 game starter, but he can cook other teams from off the bench and close games in super shooting rotations. Him and Eason off the bench are a clear advantage for the Rockets. Just so many different ways to play our current rotation. Edited November 13Nov 13 by HtownHorn
November 13Nov 13 I think the Rockets see a world where he and Amen are the 1/2 starting guards and complement each other's weaknesses. Height, shooting and defense. Both have elite attributes, and to think Reed is anywhere near a finished product on D is a fool's errand. If he can get to a defensive level of FVV, his ceiling is even higher.

November 14Nov 14 Heading to my first game of the season tomorrow night. I was looking online for help with a clever name for my post to call Reed. He apparently has one. The Tax Man (his initials are IRS) 😆
November 14Nov 14 So we can add another thing to the list of certainties in life. Death, Taxes, and Reed Sheppard.
November 14Nov 14 Other than FVV getting hurt to free up playing time...the best thing that happened tp Reed Sheppard was the Rockets getting KD.
