No, you have it all wrong. Freddie was charging the bunt as he always would. Once it was apparent it was going to Max, his job was to break to 2nd so Stott didn't get a wild hair & try to take the extra base. This is not difficult at all.

And if Freeman fields the bunt, it is Muncy's job to cover 2nd.
