I think it'll be more like right after Arch throws his fifth touchdown Saturday night in romp over Kentucky.

They should have released it 5 minutes after Texas beat OU.  Nobody would have noticed for like 5 days.

UT leadership is trying to figure out how to sell it or spin it, otherwise the rejection notice would have been sent out.

And it’s Friday, so they’ll put the acceptance letter out tonight.

Yep.  Despite the desire to suck up to Trump, this is starting to look like the law firm deal where the optics of capitulation are just bad.

From my (very limited) understanding, UT is trying to clarify some language and what is actually feasible.

My best guess is that UT will sign some revised version so that the government can crow about it but nothing actually changes. I hope not but we’ll see.

Again, everyone call that office.

Which office?

I got to bitch about it to a kindly woman for 5 minutes on Wednesday.

Same.  I let her know that as twice a graduate of our fair University, if they accept extortion, I can no longer support the University or in good conscience present it as a viable option for Chad Jr.  I will spend not one single dime on any merchandise, footballs games, or a fucking keychain with a Longhorn on it going forward.

A friend asked for my script.  Here's what I told the lady:

I am a graduate of the College of Liberal Arts and the School of Law.  I view this letter as extortion of the University.  It is an unconscionable restraint on free speech and an free academic environment at the University.  I believe it will lead to the exodus of quality professors, which will lead to a politicized learning environment, which will lead to quality students choosing to study at other universities.  I have a 12 year old who is a Texan and is currently in a gifted and talented academic program and to whom I'm introducing colleges.  I take him to campus, football games, lectures, etc. to promote the University to him.  If the University signs on to this letter, I can no longer in good conscience  promote UT as a valid option for him.  If the University signs onto this letter, I will no longer spend a single dime in support of the University.  Not academic donations, not UT exes, not a key chain with a Longhorn on it.  I have been a donor since I got my first real job after the University.   That ends the second the University submits to extortion.  I will immediately start searching out academic institutions for my son that promote an academic environment free of political coercion.

Pretty sure my old man saw Stella D'or strip in New Orleans back in '62.  Said she was a stunner.  But dad drank a lot back in those days, so who's to say.

Oh I am sure she is quite sympathetic, but the decision isn't in her hands.

Davis, Hartzell, the BOR and Abbott are making the call.  Not whoever answers the phone in the Tower.  She's probably fielding calls all day.

You are spot on.  Here's how to contact the Board of Regents:

I told them I have 2 students on the 40 acres right now.  I admitted the older kid is too close to graduation for me to pull the plug (9 hours), but that I am encouraging my son to transfer, particularly since he wants to change majors and extend my largesse.

Maybe we cannot prevent these people from making the choice they want to make, but we can contribute to increasing the amount of political capital and social status that their actions will cost them.

Well, he said "affirmative", so UVa is fucked.

I see multiple uses of the letters D, E, and I in that letter.  UVA must be punished for its woke insolence.

I would so love to draft a response where I would have D, E, and I in drop cap to open the first three pargraph of the response.

Dear President Trump,

Everyone hates you.

I hate you.

Corrupt presidents are the worst.

Really, the worst.

The day you die will be a national and worldwide holiday, akin to V-E Day.

So with UVA, the tally is five against (Brown, Penn, UVA, USC, and MIT) and four with no response yet (Texas, Arizona, Dartmouth, and Vanderbilt).

Trump is now leaning on the four holdout universities from the initial group that got his Premier Access offer. U Arizona, U Texas, Dartmouth, and Vanderbilt, who didn't yet say yes or no, are all invited to the White House... along with three new potential special friends, to up the pressure. 3/ [contains quote post or other embedded content]

Oh this board would have noticed immediately. I understand why UT can’t just ignore responding either way, and just do what it does. Abbott and Patrick.  But I wish they’d just ignore it altogether. Hartzell made an excellent career move.

I imagine this will work.  We will have to accept the invite because of political pressure to do so.  They’ll tell us they need signatures or it’s a black eye for Trump.  We will say there is stuff in there that’s not palatable.  We will jointly announce Compact 2.0 that is 98% of this.

Waiting is never a viable strategy with this admin, it’s an invitation to more pressure.

Emailed this morning to say Mrs. tokamak and I will never donate another cent if UT signs. I'm sure they don't give a fuck, but it's all we can do.

Dartmouth is OUT! Thank goodness... a friend at U of A and I have been playing "Who will be the last of the 9 standing?" and it's not gonna be us!

#394

Good. Now our school needs to decide if we’re striving to be UVA or Arizona. That’s the choice.

#395

I'm glad that universities were able to witness what bending the knee bought television networks and law firms first. Which is to say absolutely jack shit. It will never be enough. They'll never stop taking.

Nice little UT mention in the NYTimes today:

“Most of the other schools have not yet signaled how they will respond. The University of Texas is the sole system that reacted enthusiastically.”

Also says that Texas attended a virtual meeting with the White House and Dartmouth (now out), Arizona, Vandy, Arizona State, Washington St Louis (which spams high school kids like crazy to try and get their application numbers up so they look prestigious), and Kansas.

"The virtual meeting was described as both preliminary and productive by the White House."

Watching the football team makes me think it already has bent the knee.

I mean bent over.
