September 9Sep 9 Texas softball, the defending national champion, continues to pluck talent from Dripping Springs with this weekend’s commitment by Tigers catcher Lorelei “Lolo” Gamble. A member of the 2027 class, Gamble is the 15th overall prospect in the state and the No. 2 catcher nationally by Rivals' rankings. She’s considered an elite defensive catcher with pop at the plate. She’s already earned all-state recognition in her first two seasons at Dripping Springs. Didn’t know she was a player from just down the road…..awesome!

September 9Sep 9 Author I am assuming, based on baseball, we will keep OU (permanent rival) and get the teams we missed last year (aggy, bama, Georgia, Arkansas, ole Miss, south Carolina). Since the SEC is odd numbered (no Vandy), someone from last year besides OU will be a repeat team. Florida or Tenn, probably, is my guess.
September 18Sep 18 Author SEC schedule is (has been...whoops) out since last week March 6-8 - Texas @ South Carolina (2026 SEC opener) March 13-15 - Ole Miss @ Texas March 20-22 - Texas bye weekend March 27-29 - Texas A&M @ Texas (hooo boy!) April 3-5 - Texas @ Alabama April 10-12 - Oklahoma @ Texas April 17-19 - Texas @ Georgia April 24-26 - Texas @ Kentucky April 30 - May 2 - Arkansas @ Texas May 5-9 - SEC Tournament (Lexington, KY) We got the 6 new opponents we didn't play last year, our permanent rival OU and then Kentucky is our "repeat" opponent since the SEC is 15 teams.

September 26Sep 26 Big news out of the transfer portal as 2024 Missouri Valley Conference MVP Jackie Lis is transferring to Texas Tech after three years at Southern Illinois. Jackie Lis is now a 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐄𝐄-𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 All-MVC First Team Selection! The junior shortstop finished the regular season with a batting average of .351, to go along with 10 HR, 42 RBI, and 44 runs. September 26Sep 26 Is it too much to ask for Tech to have chemistry issues and then fall way short of expectations? That's never too much to ask for.

All individual skills that are largely independent of teammates' actions or attitudes. But I still want Tech to flame out in an inglorious fireball of failure, however it might happen. Even another botched IBB would work for me.
September 29Sep 29 Author I saw the stupidest fucking comment on Reddit that nobody is beating Canady 2/3 times (Texas did....) and that Tech will have the best offense in college softball next year. That a lot of wishcasting based upon like, 10 transfers, all gelling and adapting to Glasco's coaching and hitting style. Both Texas and OU return 6 of 9 offensive starters, and Texas has a 7th back in Vivi Martinez, and both brought in top 5 classes. Aggy will also returns like half of their offensive starters and gets that Florida SS eligible to play in 2026 (had to sit out 2025 due to intraconference transfer rule)
September 30Sep 30 Reminder. October 1Oct 1 Author Cribbing some notes - game starting lineup was P Salmon, C Stewie, 1B Wells, 2B Goode, SS Martinez, 3B Lawson, RF Maloney, CF Sneed, LF Altmeyer Each pitcher got 2 innings of work CG had a not good outing - loaded the bases on a walk, sac fly, another walk, double to score a couple runs in the 3rd but no runs in the 4th Team communication needs work - Wells and Stewie let a foul ball drop between them and Maloney and Sneed almost crashed into each other TK was TK - 6 outs with 3 strikeouts Nichols and Sneed are FAST Wells loaded the bases in the 9th and then struck out the side They did some situational pitching in the 10th to test Wells - 1st and 3rd situation, she let 1 run score (the 4th run allowed) Lawson (3-run), Wells (3-run) and Sneed (unsure on how many runs) hit HRs So it sounds like CG gave up 3 and Wells gave up 1 on a situational pitching scenario. Cam, TK and Brenlee were clean. Edited October 1Oct 1 by Js1

October 1Oct 1 Author It also sounds like the roster numbers and jersey numbers didn't match, so it was confusing who was where as the defensive rotations and replacements happened. Earlywine has also taken over defensive alignment duties with Coach Singleton's departure. Also sounds like Vic Hunter is still garbage. Pop up queen. She's not going to see many PH opportunities with all the freshmen waiting in the wings.

She's not going to see many PH opportunities with all the freshmen waiting in the wings. Vic Hunter has a long swing and she swings around the ball. It allows her to have big power to the left side on pitches over the plate or on the outter half, but leaves a gaping hole when pitches are in and up. She will never hit good pitching consistently without shortening up and getting to thru the pitch. Girls who swing like this feast on bad pitching. Tale as old as time.

I would say something similar for LG. She has a long swing with bat drag that hurts her against top end pitching, as I've posted on here before. She's very talented though and makes up for the poor technique with great hand eye coordination.
October 2Oct 2 Author I would love to get LG back to her 2023/2024 BA of .325 and 16 doubles, but she did up her power to 10 HR this past year and stepped up when we needed her to defensively at SS If she can hit ~.325, 10ish HR, 15+ doubles and field 2nd at a .980+ clip, I'll be happy. She was .986, .986, .983 the years she played 2B. Man, she was clutch at times too - 40% of her HRs came in the tournament (Michigan, UCF, Clemson game 2, Texas Tech game 3 that knocked out Canady)

October 2Oct 2 Author Looks like Texas will be opening the season at the UTSA Invitational - Nebraska, Washington, UTSA, Texas - in San Antonio. We will play Nebraska twice - Friday, Feb 6 at 6pm and Saturday, Feb 7 at 3:30pm Cribbed from the Huskers 2026 schedule; do not yet have a UTSA or UW schedule to see when we play them We will see Jordy Bahl at least once.
October 2Oct 2 Author At least the school paper covers fall ball: https://thedailytexan.com/2025/10/01/reigning-national-champions-warm-up-in-dominating-fall-ball-matchup/ Quote A quick single from junior catcher Katie Stewart and a hit by pitch put runners on first and second as the rookie stepped into the box. Stepping into her swing, Wells delivered a three-run home run straight over the outfield wall, extending the Longhorns’ lead to 8-3 and reigniting the offensive spark for Texas. Quote “Obviously, Hannah Wells came in and struggled,” head coach Mike White said. “Her first two at-bats had two strikeouts. Then she comes up and hits a home run. And then we put her in the fire, as with people on base, and she turned up and turned it up a notch and really did a good job and kept her composure.” The reigning national champions put on an offensive showcase early. A quick triple from senior right fielder Ashton Maloney and a sacrifice fly from senior left fielder Kaiah Altmeyer put the Longhorns on the board, ending the first inning 1-0. Quote This continued into the second inning with a deep two-run home run from freshman third baseman MaTaia Lawson and an RBI from senior Reese Atwood, widening the gap to 5-0 after two quick innings. Quote The productive Longhorn offense continued late into the 10-inning matchup, totaling 23 hits on the day, with the Longhorns finishing their first matchup of the year victorious with a final score of 17-4.

Good find ! Mac Morgan is the UTSA pitching coach. Head coach is Vann Stuedeman, former asst at Alabama and Miss St, in her second year. Props to her for trying to put UTSA on the map with drawing high profile teams to their tournament. I have been down twice years ago when we played. They have remodeled but still a small stadium, <1K. If interested in going, keep an eye on the UTSA site, tickets will be scarce. And hopefully, there will be no "We Messed With Texas" signs after the baseball regional last year.

October 4Oct 4 I missed her two run homer (got there at end of 1st), but the only position playing newcomer that really stood out to me tonight was Snead. Super athletic. She had an amazing catch in CF, then doubled off the runner at 1st who thought she wasn't gonna catch it. She might be hard to keep off the field. I was a little surprised Altmeyer didn't come in until the bottom of the 6th and only got one AB. She has some pop.

October 4Oct 4 It's a good problem to have I guess. I wouldn't get too complacent if I were one of them. I still think he rolls with Maloney and Henry at RF and CF due to trust. I guess 3rd and LF are two for sure "open" spots. Nichols and Lawson both played some 3rd tonight.

Who pitched and how many innings? Did Wells move to first after she pitched? (If she didn’t pitch the whole game) or did Stewie hold it down all game?

I only saw the 2nd through the 6th. I saw Salmon in for 1, Wells in for 1, Gonzalez for 2, TK for 1. I did not see Wells at 1st, but it's possible she went there for an inning (I had the fam with me, so not laser locked in). She had at least 1 AB as a pinch/DP. At 1st it was mainly Stewie, with Reese there for a couple of innings (lol). Crabtree got to pinch run and had 1 AB. None of the newbies did much at the plate other than Snead.
