If the defense comes back, crazy things can happen. Simmons looked a little better yesterday. I still don’t know where the rest of the 5 stars are.

Our 5 star corner Kobe Black was on his ass watching Dallas Wilson run down the sideline

I have a lot of OU fans in my family. They don't like to admit it, but Texas is all the Sooners think about. It's an obsession and they will play their best game of the season on Saturday. The line on this game is inexplicable. I understand the media likes to build Texas up so they can fall on their face and be humiliated, I don't understand why Vegas would do it. The Sooners have the #1 run defense in college football. Which of our runningbacks is going to get yards against this team? When the run game stalls, what are we going to do, throw desperate 50 yard bombs? Their backup QB is better than our starter. Our backup QB might be better than our starter. Texas is about to be humiliated on the national stage one more time.

It’s crazy that we’re almost to the midway point of the season and we have no idea who our starting left guard will be at Texas/OU. It could realistically be any of three or four different people.

I'm going to bet our starting left guard will be Connor Stroh, because Kyle Flood is our OL Coach.

Curious what you are basing this off of. It can’t be the singular start against Kent State. I’m not calling Manning great at all, but calling Hawkins definitively better is a bold claim based on current evidence..

Calling any QB difinitively better than Manning is not exactly bold at this point. Hawkins started 4 games last year. I was a little suprised that he stayed around after they brought Mateer in. With OU's defense he should be able to do more than enough to beat this team. I think it's just hard for us to wrap our heads around how bad this Texas team is right now.

LOL - Texas still favored over cocklahoma.

Venables will come after us all fucking game. Sad thing is he doesn’t need to. He can get home and control the line if scrimmage with a base front.

Luckily he's dumbass of a head coach, he might not take the best approach to this game.

I have no idea how to sanely have any confidence in our chances in this game after watching our o-line get abused by UF. We received confirmation that UTEP was not an aberration. Our o line is completely broken. There's no help coming for this game. I don't know how you win with that.

Handicappers are slow to adjust to teams they are completely wrong about. We were fucking favored against OSU on the road. Laughable.

Take that free money.

I think that's the play here, like a happiness hedge.  If ou wins, you get paid.  If Texas wins, well Texas wins!

If this oline all of a sudden grows a spine by Saturday, I'd be utterly impressed.

my god... i thought I'd give the board time to take a breath, but it seems I didn't take a long enough break

both the positive pollyannas and the negative nancies in here are being idiots

what did y'all fucking expect when we were replacing nearly our entire offensive starters this year? You actually thought we'd IMPROVE when we tossed our entire 2024 offense off into the NFL?

to say nothing of our defense; I was watching the Broncos against the Eagles today and saw both Mukuba AND Barron making amazing plays. And Collins nearly single handedly won the game for the 49ers

The negativity about the coaching staff is dumb, positivity about the TEAM is dumb. The goal this year is week to week improvement, to make a run next year, when we bring back EVERYBODY.

fuck ou, I hope we beat em by 70, but I wouldn't bet on it

In the era of NIL, the coaches deserve all the blame for not going in the portal or being ready to potentially replace 4 guys on the oline. How did it work out for Clemson returning almost EVERYBODY?

You sound like such an aggy with that take.

When are you going to start being worried that your head coach has a 2-9 record against top-10 opponents?

1-7 when we rush less than 100 yards

I think he is like 2-9 when losing at half.

This is the same coach and coaching staff that let oklahoma come back and win when we were up 28-7.

We should be progressing and being consistently a solid program at year 5, even when players leave to the NFL draft. uga, tOSU, Bama keep putting out players and competing, but our fans are making excuses and saying "make a run next year." Sounds like something we been saying every year.

As Sark says, "the standard is the standard" and the Texas Longhorns football team is not meeting the standard.

Actually you bring up a good point on their defense but we can’t run on anyone anyway.

Disagree about Hawkins being better than arch

I expected that, in an era where you can go buy the best players from other teams, and we have the resources to be one of the top tier spenders, we would go out and get competent o-linemen. We didn't. We managed to spend a great deal of money on a WR corps with no one that can create explosive plays, RBs that are average or hurt (or both) and a mentally fragile QB. The icing on the cake is deciding to ride with the type of o-line that Houston or Southern Miss could recruit.

I think losing to OU's backup QB will wake up most of you.

If we don’t see any improvement at all this Saturday on offense or defense then we for sure are losing 5-6 games this season. I fully expect to see at the very least the defense to play better. On offense they’re so bad I’m just hoping we get lucky on some long balls and trick plays.

Venables DL is very aggressive.  If Sark doesn't have a game plan to mitigate the disaster that is this OL, OU is going to set sack record and break Arch in half.

I cannot tell you why, but for some reason I think Texas will play well vs OU and win this game. Nothing like getting embarrassed on national TV to help you focus. That goes to the coaching staff also.

This has to be a bit...your take is that in year 5 Sark and Flood thought it would be best to go with week to week improvement plan for the OL in the era of NIL?

what actually was the plan was Flood thought he was good and could coach up his large human 3 stars.  even Sark and Flood realize they are getting completely abused and are generally incompetent.  it is a disaster.  doesn't mean we can't beat OU, because, you know, 20 year olds exist in college football, but this is was not the plan.

OU sucks.  We're a wounded animal.  Texas is going to kick their Sooner ass up and down the field this Saturday, and I am going to make carnitas.

Our o line is worse than most G5 lines and probably a lot of the FCS lines that most SEC schools play. We’re gonna look like a warm up game for most of the better SEC defenses. What Florida did to our o line looked like what we were doing to SHSU. There’s no excuse for a program like Texas to be this bad. There’s no way flood can keep his job after this season right?? RIGHT??

Who are the tough guys and leaders on this Texas team??

Better show up at the "Street Fight in Cotton Bowl" this Saturday 🤘

Does OU have freaks like Baugh, Vernell Brown, and that Wilson kid on offense? We had no answer for the speed/physicality of those 3. We would’ve beaten Florida if it wasn’t for them honestly, it would’ve been ugly but we would have won. I kind of like our odds against what’s undoubtably an overrated OU team with a shitty QB. Florida just had superior athletes to us and caught us with a shitty game plan. I don’t think OU has such an athletic advantage.

Tell your ladies to put their strap-ons back in the dresser.

We're set up for the win.

I’m getting the feeling that this coaching staff is infected with the same hubris that caused the 2010 collapse.

Us beating OU is no more improbable than Florida beating us.

No, we don’t. We’re going to struggle with the traditional run game and will probably have to rely on the +1 QB run for any success, just hoping Hawkins doesn’t make some boneheaded plays like he tends to do. He’ll show some flashes of good, but it’s usually sandwiched between shit.

We do, however, have a better overall defense—especially the front seven—than Florida, and I think that’s our path to victory. Hold Texas to 17 or fewer, and I think we win.

The offensive line Case had back in 2013 would have us 5-0 right now

The negativity about the coaching staff is dumb? Personnel decisions are made by the coaching staff. They chose to roll with these offensive line and running back rooms, while numerous other teams hit the portal hard at those positions. The players are getting their fair share of blame, but at a certain point drive killing penalties and special teams disasters is on the coaches. This isn't the first year where this was an issue, this is just the first year where we don't have players capable of making massive numerous explosive plays to negate the inability to consistently move the ball. Sark and staff are working with the same resources as Ohio State, Oregon and Georgia and this is Year 5. There's no excuse for the team be this bad.
