Most games are a few plays here and there from being a different game and while we view it from a fans perspective which is we expect to win 42-3, sark is going off what he sees as a head coach which is we lost at Ohio st 14-7 and at Florida 29-21 and both game we were driving to tie the game and both game we had drives that should have ended in a touchdowns but didnt(tosu fumble at the 1, two missed wide open td passes vs Florida). Sark sees us 4 plays away from being undefeated right now and thinks he would get the angst if we had lost 35-7 in both games. Not sure why everyone expects him to say anything different when he also gets softball questions from the media. Texas should have won that game by 4 scores and I'm not exaggerating. That's how bad Florida is and how good Texas can be. Instead we got whatever the fuck it was we got on Saturday and called it "close to a victory" as a coaching staff. Unacceptable.

On offense (OL in particular) it's clearly a personnel clusterfuck that Sark and his staff completely mismanaged or misevaluated. But I don't get the defense as we've watched these same guys completely dominate. I'm trying to think back to the last game (even a game we won) where what was on paper an inferior unit completely outplayed us. Maybe OU in 2023 when Gabriel went off? Washington scored a lot of points in '23 but that was a really good offense and Penix played an elite game. Lagway played solid but our D flat out just got whipped at the LOS and we haven't seen that in forever. This one isn't hard. The interior DL is not playing nearly as well against legit competition as we have seen the last 2-3 years. Like the Oline that infects a lot of things. On running plays lanes are not clogged up, our interior gets pushed back and our LBs are dealing with more traffic at the second level and not as free to flow to ball carriers. On passing plays the quickest way to fuck a QB up is to collapse the middle of their line right back in his face (you know what this looks like, you saw Florida do it to us all day). When that happens the QB has two choices, he can start to flow to one side or another and into a DE like Simmons, or he can continue to drop (a QE3 favorite) again putting himself in the spot most DE pass rushes naturally tend to end up. What happens right now is a nice tidy pocket forms and QB steps into it and delivers the ball. Edited October 6Oct 6 by Surly Bevo

I really don’t like how Sark has handled this season and his lack of awareness about our situation is starting to show in his comments to the media. I missed it, what was the quote?

The best team in the country couldn't beat Florida by 4 scores so a mediocre team shouldn't be expected to do so. Florida's got a good defense and that itself will prevent them from being completely run off the field in any game it plays. Texas isn't a good team right now. Again, it's mediocre. There are parts in place that could enable them to become a good team but the coaching staff seems to have no idea or clue on how to improve upon the many deficiencies that exist. That's the scary part.

Also, are the portal players that are playing buying into the "Horns" culture that took Sark some time to change?

Have Collins, Burke, Spence and Hill really combined for just 2.5 sacks in 5 games? That total literally would have been an average Saturday for Kiki DeAyala. October 6Oct 6 Watched the press conference and Sark has no answers on how to fix things. He's usually coy about what will happen next because he expects things to get fixed, but not this time. Today, he just said we need to coach better and play better. Although he did hint at what needs to be done to beat OU. He said that no one has made OU's defense pay for being so aggressive. Well, with no OL, how do you make them pay is what Sark has to figure out? My money is on him being optimistic that the OL will do better and he'll create the ultimate game plan to beat OU, only to have it go to shit as he acts surprised that an OL that has played poorly for 5 games plays poorly during the 6th game.

I think it was during the press conference after the SJSU game when he took a question about Manning grimacing so much during the game while passing the ball, raising the possibility that he’d injured a shoulder. October 6Oct 6 This guy is in over his head. It's obvious. He'll be the head coach for one or two more seasons after this one and we'll have another reset, which is so sad given all the momentum we had going after the past couple of seasons and recent recruiting. There is no demand for internal accountability. Not pride in process-driven culture. No commitment to winning. For a guy who worked under Nick Saban, he should have learned a thing or two in these regards. Chew someones ass, demand the right things, be honest in PCs, and fucking truthfully assess what you have and what you need in terms of roster needs. No excuse for this shitty OL. October 6Oct 6 A players-only meeting would need to be called for and led by the most visible player. The richest player. The player that has received the most hype in, potentially, the history of college football. That player can't hit the broad side of a barn, much less lead a players-only meeting. At this point, I'm curious how many losses Arch gets. It's not in Sark's DNA to change QBs mid-season. I wonder if and when he will pull the trigger...

So, the guy who built that momentum. The guy who led us to the past few seasons. The guy who has improved recruiting. The guy who led Texas to the playoffs the last two seasons. ... is now in over his head? At what point did he reach that low point? Now, this season is far below expectations and to be blunt, this is not a championship caliber team. We get that. Our offensive line looks like a bunch of dancing bears on roller skates. Our running backs are either perpetually injured or are as average as everyday wash. It's easy to be a good coach when the winds are calm, the ocean is tame and you are basking in the sun. Well, the storm is coming and this program could be dashed against the rocks. What Sark does in this off-season will define his coaching legacy. He will either rectify matters, make tough decisions, and do what it takes to build a championship team ... or he will become just one more former Texas coach who fails at whatever other school he goes to after receiving his walking papers here.

October 7Oct 7 We had like two different kinds of run plays. There’s the dive and the pulling motion sweep. Arch designed qb run worked alright once but damn you know Sark doesn’t like doing that shit. He’s somehow lost all that cool misdirection from his Alabama days. Maybe it’s because it’s built off a power run that just doesn’t exist with this team. Either way, we tried some 2 back stuff but I never saw any 5 wide stuff at all. The motion is only a BS 2wr spread super wide then jogging into the slot to take off. The TE was non existent against Florida for some reason besides one screen that was almost a disaster. If the run game isn’t working well, go 5 wide hurry up and burn these mother fuckers with mid screen and fake bubbles.

October 7Oct 7 I don’t expect our press to ask any real tough questions: 1. hey Sark when you were solely an OC calling plays did you sit up in the booth? 2.Why do OC’s sit up in a booth? 3. Do you think you can see what your opponent’s defense is doing squatting on the sidelines? follow up: Do you think since you will never give up play calling that sitting in the booth might actually help Texas improve offensively instead of being close to dead last in the entire FBS in red zone efficiency the PAST THREE YEARS? 4. You do realize the last HC to be both HC and OC was Jimbo and he was fucking fired? 5. Has anyone in charge of athletics at Texas told you to get your ass in the booth? why not? 6. do you think in hindsight spring practice and a spring game may have helped identify problems with players that seem to have taken you and the coaching staff by surprise once Texas started playing in actual games? 7. do you really think Texas is this close to winning or do you have team dysmorphia?
