December 5Dec 5 I would definitely fall a lot closer to the Mr. Diabetes way of handling things. I was on the fence, but the hot tub scene changed my mind.
December 5Dec 5 Is it even possible to drive from Paraguay to New Mexico? I’m guessing at some point he’ll have to get on a boat.
December 5Dec 5 Well yeah, I know they’re connected by land. But are there viable roads the whole way?
December 5Dec 5 no The Darién Gap is a dangerous, roadless jungle swamp between Panama and Colombia, the only overland route connecting South and Central America, infamous as a perilous migration path filled with natural hazards, criminal gangs, and humanitarian crises as migrants seek a better life in the U.S.. This treacherous 60-mile stretch of rainforest, part of Darién National Park, is a major bottleneck for global migration, where migrants face deadly rivers, wildlife, and exploitation by traffickers, despite significant humanitarian efforts.

Well, there won’t be any criminal gangs or traffickers to worry about 😂 Edited December 5Dec 5 by HornPhD

I mean I guess if you like rape… I feel like it will become a plot point at some time since Seehorns character talks about opinions and freeing the infected - I don’t trust the aliens supposed good intentions towards the infected, because I assume that most of the enslaved would consider themselves being harmed if asked honestly, and the hot tub scene is the most poignant example in that if you asked any of those infected when they had free will, they would say they have been raped. Also, that rat was clearly mind controlled and it bit the shit out of the lab tech. Do no harm my ass. Ate they not allowed to mow the grass even?… On the infection itself, if it was truly just a radio blast in all directions from the source, they would have no way of knowing the exact biology of the planet it was received on. And it clearly infected the rat. So does that mean that every single animal is also hive mind? Every plant even? And do they have knowledge of previous infected civilizations? We haven’t seen anything high tech yet. Sorry for the Loboian list of random thoughts.

Every hive has one, so who (or what) is directing all of their actions? What greater end does their acquiescence serve?

December 6Dec 6 I wonder if the people "affected" are conscious, watching this all happen but unable to control anything (like Picard as a Borg), or if they're just shut off.
December 6Dec 6 Author Good episode. I chuckled at John Cena, the days of the week Lambos and mi madre es una cabrona. Also, Rhea is damn fine for 53 years old.

Hi, we’re John cena. and the lambos just made me sad. Have some diversity, Monsieur diabates. Like in the hot tub. glad the hive and the survivors have told Carol to fuck off and die. She is toxic. Not an anti-hero, just a bad person. Like Walter white in that way.
December 6Dec 6 after i called the first time, the next thing i'd ask for after the beep is tell Howard to change the damn recording lol

December 6Dec 6 Really liking the show/concept so far. However, Rea's character is starting to really get on my nerves. Her anger and hatered 24/7 is gettting to be too much. Interesting to see where they take it.
December 6Dec 6 Popular Post Carol is 12 days into the entire population of the world, less 12 people, turning into a hive. She's grieved for and buried her partner. She's flown to Spain and learned that the other non-hivers couldn't care less about the whole thing. She found a warehouse sized refrigerator with stacks of human body parts. And she's working pretty hard to try to figure out how to fix things. That's a pretty eventful few days. I'm going to cut her a break.

December 6Dec 6 The description of the show is “The most miserable person on earth has to save the world from happiness.” Shes awful but she’s supposed to be awful.

December 7Dec 7 12 days in and a lot of domesticated animals would die without being fed. I assume they are eating them as well Poor Shamu

He’s asking a lot of questions about what it means to be a human and how different parts of the world view individual freedom. There’s precedent of humans never making contact with their alien overlords. Spoiler Much of Three Body Problem is a 400 year build up to the aliens coming to conquer Earth. But the only contact humans ever make with the aliens is a frozen brain in a probe. I think the Others aim is to make humans so docile before their arrival that they couldn’t possibly defend themselves from an invasion. Additionally, they prohibit farming so all humans will eventually starve to death. An empty Earth is my guess at their endgame.
December 7Dec 7 If they just want an empty earth with no humans, infecting everyone with a virus that, I don't know . . . just kills them, seems much more efficient.

It could be they're trying to harness the resources and brain power of humans to take over the next planet. If you've got 8 billion people all working together seamlessly on whatever problem you have, you can come up with some solutions pretty quick. Every empire in history has tried to use the resources they just took over to expand more, but now you don't need to worry about pesky rebellions.

It wouldn't probably get to everyone before it was isolated. Also it's good to have a population to clean up the dead bodies and get the planet set up the way you want it before you get here.

December 8Dec 8 They don’t kill things, remember? still unsure though how it went from being passed by body fluid to being passed airborne for the mass event. Maybe I’m off base here but I think the virus transmission they gave us instructs us to not kill, not pluck apples, etc. Not that the aliens responsible (or who/whatever) can’t do those things. If that makes sense.

December 8Dec 8 She was a bitch two weeks ago too. And a bitch 5 years ago at the ice hotel. She’s a bitch. Interesting to read these takes. I’m definitely team Carol. Maybe she’s a bit of a bitch but the situation kinda calls for it. I like her bitchiness. There are other shows where I can’t stand a main character that other viewers seem fine with and that usually ruins the show for me, so I get it.
December 8Dec 8 I wish Carrol would ask them why they don’t kill things. I wish she would ask them:-where did the genetic code for the virus originate? who or what created it?-what is their end game?Pretty basic big picture questions that might help her understand what type of adversary she is up against.
December 8Dec 8 They can’t lie but they also don’t have to tell her, like they didn’t confirm that the process could be reversed, they just refused to answer.
December 8Dec 8 15 hours ago, henrygandorf said: right. they killed 800m people, so... If they are forbidden from killing directly but still want to eliminate the Earth's population, having everyone starve to death is a good workaround.
