October 12Oct 12 Fair is always great, new cotton bowl renovations were much needed and overall a way better experience. 2:30 Gametime blows fucking ass and is hot as fuck, tickets on the shaded side is a must. Guy sat behind me was telling his friends it was their 60th red river shootout so shout out to that legend who had been going since he was a kid in the late 60’s. Fuck ou.

October 12Oct 12 Yesterday was my 25th RRS and my 4th in a row and have taken my son now all 4 years of high school for him being his senior year. 3-1 is his record so I told him he could easily be 4-0 if not for the Gabriel fucking game we blew so he’s going every year now no questions asked.

October 12Oct 12 Took a post-victory ride on The Crazy Mouse before heading home. What occurred to me about the ride today? It was 10 tickets. 6 of us rode it. That’s 60 fucking dollars for The Crazy Mouse. Worth it for a "don't care Beat OU" victory ride, but how the hell does a family roll to the Fair and blow 30-60 dollars, depending on how many kids they have, on The Crazy Mouse?

October 12Oct 12 Improved to 6-5. Daughter is 1-0. Without looking about the same. 500 ball over 15 games. My currently 17 year old was born the 2nd week in October and that throws shit in the fan over the years attending with birthdays. Sorry not sorry for sexing my wife in January.

Was also trying to remember the “secret route” to Fair Park you gave me back in the HF days, but I’ve long since forgotten. Made it and in really well yesterday anyway. Hope you’re well.

I guess… if you’re a good parent. my kids are 11 and 13 and were born the first and second weekend’s in October, and my SO who I’ve been with for ~9 years has birthday the day before the 13 yo. I’ve been to 27 in a row. Edited October 13Oct 13 by UTexasFight

And end up just spending them in line for coupons and fletchers. 9-11 is the sweet spot now for getting all of your fair activities out of the way. Arriving after then and it’s just a mob of people and lines. The problem is, that still leaves 3 hours before kickoff.

Grab a seat at Magnolia Beer Garden or Texas Exes. Drink beer. Watch college football on giant screen. Sounds like a perfect Saturday. People bitched about the 11a kick for over a decade. Now 2:30 sucks, too?

I like 2:30 because I get to the fair around 9am and enjoy walking around and eating and hitting up the expos and car show and all that. I liked 11am because it wasn’t horribly hot at the start and you had to get to the fair at 7am to avoid the traffic. I wanna see what happens if they ever make this a 6pm kickoff or a 7pm PrimeTime game. No heat to deal with would be amazing and the fair at night is always great but I know the BMD will never let that happen.

October 13Oct 13 I read virtually none of this thread so this will probably be an unoriginal thought: How many millions spent in renovations and no working water fountains (section 116), sinks not working in the men's restroom, and a river of piss/water in said restroom. If the water fountain thing is intentional in order to sell more waters, that's pretty fucking dangerous.

Just too much of a cluster. 11AM kick, get to fair about 8am, walk around a bit, grab the mandatory Fletchers and head into the stadium about 10:00 to beat the mad rush.

I go back and forth (and I used to be a huge 11:00 proponent). The key is to still arrive at 8:00, and enjoy the emptiness for a couple of hours. I walked up to a Fletchers stand at about 11:00 with zero people in line, and then got a $4 beer next door also with zero line. That noon to 2:30 stretch is rough, though.
