Houston is just young outside of KD.

Sure but they're not too young to win. Ime has coached a Finals. Durant has played in four Finals. Houston made the playoffs last season.

They may need another jump from Sengun and some OKC championship-fatigue to get there and if that's the case next season will be their best opportunity.

Just saying two years from now I think Durant is going to be too old unless the guys around him seriously elevate and KD settles into more of a 2nd/3rd option.

Houston is elite. They might finish the season around 8-9 SRS and MOV, which are carried by their offense having the best 3pt shooting team and historic offensive rebounding. That defense has slipped though. Something to keep an eye on, but they were top 4 all of last season and are 15th now. That's too much of a drop to just blame it all on FVV being out.

They might have enough to stay top 4 in the West after KD if Sengun is a yearly all-star and both of Amen and Sheppard get better. It's hard to say. The West has a lot of good teams.

That Reed Sheppard fellow has done a complete 180 and the Phoenix Suns are fun as fuck to watch.

Might need to call in a welfare check.

CP3 to retire after this season. interesting career. wildly succesful as an individual, but hard to say where he stands among his peers all time.

I'd put him above both Westbrook and Harden. YMMV.

One of those nights that my HS loses the state football6A championship in MN (first time playing in it since 1987) and also this happens in a span of 20 minutes

Makes one question of what’s the point of following sports and just take up theater & the arts. Go to plays. Performances, whatever. Something that won’t kill your will to exist

Talk about the west, all I know is it’s Thunder, then Nuggs, then Lakers, Rockets & Spurs, then everyone else. Wolves underachieving so far. Warriors look like they’re going to only put in so much effort to make it as an 8/9/10.

Only have the late in the season matchup with OKC in Denver with my half season ticket. Gonna have to cop the 2/1 game with my discount.

He was better than anyone has ever been without being great.

I hate paraphrasing Bill Simmons, but I remember him saying something like, "If you need a good game from CP3 in the playoffs, he'll give you 23 and 9. When you need a great game from him to win...he'll give you 23 and 9."

Pretty much

He was just never quite the best player in the league - although he got close.

Statistically one of the best careers of all-time.

Good playoff performer but not a great one who could consistently win 2 rounds.

Kind of a dickhead on the court.

He made every team he ever joined better as soon as he got there. And I think that is mainly what will be his legacy along with his steals and assist numbers.

I can’t hate CP3 as much as I used to after his year in SA. His career was marred by never having great enough teammates and/or consistently getting injured at the worst possible time. But as far as point guards go, depending on whether you define Curry and Harden as point or shooting guards, he’s probably top 5 all time: Magic, Stockton, Kidd, Isiah and that nut punching whiny asshole Chris Paul. He’s also, as far as I can tell, the last of a dying breed of true table setting pass first point guards. You just don’t see guys play like him anymore, and it’s kind of a shame the way the game has evolved to eliminate that style of player.

@ztejas point about him always making his teams better is a great one too. It’s pretty remarkable how he elevated every team he played for (notwithstanding that one weird year in GS). For a guy who never really won anything, he’s in a certain respect one of the great winning players in the game.

Klay may be committing basketball terrorism with the Mavs on the court, but his interview is a must see after the game. Dude when in on Memphis and Ja in particular and he’s not wrong.

I will add that he and Meg The Stallion are the cooler version of Swift/Kelce.

Truth cuts deep.  Ja is an imbecile though so he is more likely to put a hit on Klay than listen to him

I laughed at the end when he pulled out a flip phone.

He's right, though.

Klay's a made man. Sucks his body failed him, and I don't think the Gulf is his ocean of choice, but dude's never been scared to speak his mind.

yeah but which one has more guns?

I think Ja's probably a little butthurt that a half-white, rich boy, player's kid has more street cred than him...a hardcore suburban gangster.

Klay's was great but not the greatest.  "White people just throwing money at you and you throwin' it back."

They've had an easy record so far so that's part of it.  Also, though, they're just better than last year on defense.  Jalen Williams is probably their most important defender because he can guard all five positions and he hasn't even played.  Last year they had so few regular season games where everyone was healthy that they really didn't start clicking until the playoffs.  Now, they've had an entire off season and most everyone else has been healthy except for a few games here and there.

Kings fans have had enough.

Of all the things to criticize LeBron for, his body care regimen is not one of them. We should probably all be following his lead.

Remember when the Bulls were the darling of the league? Yeah, that was fun.
