Don’t believe it, read some of the comments that have been made on these threads and some that have been deleted.  Crazy to me that friends and family have actually stopped talking over freaking politics, but many don’t respects anyone else’s views anymore and can’t separate a person from their political views.  I’ve learned to just not talk about politics with the extreme of either side.

When one side is “I really want to hurt people, and i am overjoyed when others suffer,” and the other side is diametrically opposed, with a position of “hurting people is bad, stop that,” it’s not about “different views.”
If all we were arguing about was highway funding, or elements of defense spending, that would be a different universe. I’ve been friends with people with whom I’ve had such disagreements for decades. Trumpists are not those people.

So we didn’t get a notification about comments made in this forum that were being watched….  There’s been the same level of thing said by both parties extremes. I don’t understand why you get but hurt by that fact…   Is it a bit more for one side then the other, sure but that doesn’t make it right for anyone to do.

You obviously missed the announcement and many comments that were deleted…. There’s extremes wishing harm on both sides, take your blinders off and see it.  I don’t like how either side has headed the last few years.  But this is a classic example of neither side admitting any faults crap that’s going on now.  It’s were right your wrong nothing else matters from both all of the time.  There’s a reason there’s a CloakRoom sucks thread, anyone rather middle, right, independent can’t have a conversation in here because it’s as close minded as a far Right forum is but the other way and this is a prime example.

There’s not that many….  There’s the ones who have been around here for a while that people know but if someone shows up new in CR and makes the exact same comment they get a different response.  Just look thru threads that’s not hard to figure out.  Many came in here months ago and were like Biden is slipping and probably shouldn’t run again and it’s best for the party and were met with not so nice results.  Y’all are kidding yourself if you think it’s not single think in here.

Yes, because the vast majority who show up are concern trolls not actually interested in discussing anything other than both sides, and how both sides somehow make trump normal

I'm a moderate independent. Anyone pretending like the crazy is still the same on both sides is living in the past. The GOP has been hijacked by the worst of the worst and is so far lost right now the party is completely unrecognizable. I hope we can get back to both sides being relatively balanced and shitty in their own ways, but we're not even close to that right now.

Oh no, were people being mean? Not nice? God quit crying. Many of those that were calling for Biden to step aside and got some shit for it, are still here posting. Why? Because who gives a shit if someone disagrees with you or calls you an idiot. Grow some thicker skin and have cogent arguments.

This is such unbridled horseshit. I live in fucking California, and I'm not sure if I've ever seen a Fuck Trump shirt/flag/bumper sticker/whatever in person. I can't go a day without seeing Let's Go Brandon or Fuck Biden. If I'm going camping with my learning-how-to-read kids, there's a 75% chance that there's a trailer within eyeshot flying a massive Fuck Biden flag on a 20' pole, and their kids have matching Let's Go Brandon shirts. Good news is that those flag poles are apparently easy to mount on their boats as well.

I've never once had someone try to bring up out of nowhere how important trans rights are and how we have to do more to protect them. It's ALWAYS right-leaning friends and family who are looking to find any opportunity to make their "trannie" jokes, or repeat the latest thing they heard about arresting parents for not paying for their 8 year old's gender reassignment or whatever the fuck. Who just can't wait to tell you how much better their black friend that no one has met was doing under Trump. It's a near daily occurrence for me (especially during COVID when everyone just had to share their favorite version of the "after the election, you'll never hear about COVID again" batshit conspiracies), so I can't imagine what it's like for those of you still in Texas.

This is an anonymous message board; you think most of us are running around talking about Trump and elections 24/7? No, we have the decency to not bring up politics in polite company. Today's right blows right fucking past social cues and any reasonable sense of time and place. They're so sure that everyone agrees with them that they take staying silent, avoiding eye contact, and attempts to change the subject as sure signs that we want to hear another half hour of their vile.

Why the fuck would I want to expose my family to that shit any more than I dutifully have to?

  • Popular Post

Oh yeah, and one of those kids is a girl, and the hand-picked VP candidate of the man who's still the betting favorite to win the Presidency just said that if she chooses not to (or can't) procreate, her sad existence of a life has no meaning, and she doesn't have any real stake in the country or world.

But the Democrats probably have an iffy tax bill that they want to pass, and that could be harmful too. So I guess it's all the same.

The thing that irritates about posts like the above (hook1997s) is the "extreme of either side."  Does extreme leftism exist?  Sure it does.  Does it enter the conversation in Cloak Room or elsewhere?  Not most of the time.

Note that most of the more progressive posters bad_teammate and Linux, are mostly absent from the discussions.

The right is all-extreme all the time.

^^^ The point being, in case I was unclear, is that right wing extremism and hateful rhetoric comes directly from their political and thought leaders. They start, foster, and stoke the fire. Left wing extremism is largely contained to message boards and whatever an antifa is.

Left wing extremism is "maybe everyone should get free healthcare."

Right wing extremism is "hey wouldn't it be cool if trans people weren't allowed to exist in our society, and we could make people ashamed to be gay again?"

Gee, I wonder why people take that shit personally?

The government literally talked to people from this board about their post…. I don’t get how yall are totally missing the both sides hate but it exists and happens and as also said it’s more than the other side. 🤷🏻‍♂️. But it happens and it happens here more than you like to admit.  And no not all the right is extreme like I said exactly, is it a bigger percentage yes but to say it’s all is the exact same thing they are doing.

From anonymous Internet posters. It's regrettable when it does, and people should definitely better channel their anger. I missed the truly bad posts after the assassination attempt, but some of the ones I did see were cringe and over the line. But again, we're not politicians.

Right wing hate starts at the very top. And they milk the shit out of that hate for their own gain. We didn't even need January 6 to realize how incredibly dangerous that it. And now it's too late: if anyone in the GOP steps out of line and goes against the boss, they're ostracized. So hate is the only acceptable party platform now.

Same, same.

First, a Votecast survey, conducted by University of Chicago’s National Opinion Research Center in conjunction with the 2022 election, asked whether each party was “too tolerant of extremist groups.” Fifty-three percent found Republicans too tolerant of extremists and an identical 53 percent said the same of Democrats.

In response to another question, 47 percent said Republicans need more moderate candidates while 49 percent expressed the same desire for Democrats.

Equal numbers said Democrats and Republicans welcome extremism and that each party needed more centrist candidates.

y’all just keep your heads in the sand and keep going “what” my party does nothing wrong.   The article also says there’s more in the right, like I said but goes on to explain it’s not just one side and there’s many articles that say the exact same thing.  Also the saying I’m voting Trump is hilarious and shows your ignorance and blind view for one side and nothing else. This is exactly why there’s I hate Cloakroom thread…. You talk just as close minded and judgmental as the other side.

Stop doing this. Literally no one ever says that. But, when your choices are a Ford Pinto full of human excrement and a 1998 Honda Accord, it's pretty easy. That doesn't make the Accord perfect.

Look at my user name...you think I'm some lifelong bleeding heart liberal? The right just has absolutely nothing to offer me right now. That's not changing while Trump is alive because he is the party, and that party is pure, open hatred.

Also, can you please link that study? I'm curious how they define extremism. Or how those surveyed perceived it. Anecdotally speaking, when I hear left wing extremists, I tend to think policy: free college, crazy high taxes, universal income/healthcare, etc. Right wing extremists has me thinking Proud Boys, Jan 6, election deniers, etc.

Uh, you might have heard that one "side" just pushed the incumbent POTUS out of the race - unprecedented in modern history - because it was made abundantly clear to the electorate (who have in turn made themselves clear through polling) and eventually the rank and file of the party that he was not up to mounting the kind of campaign needed to win, or to governing for four more years, despite a relatively strong record in his first term.

Unless you are just being intentionally disingenuous or are extremely stupid, you surely recognize that such a reckoning is unfathomable in the cult of personality known as the Republican Party.

This is such a load of horseshit lol. I get you want to feel smart, edgy, above the fray, etc. but when you are consistently grading one party on a vastly different curve than the other - which is the only way to arrive at the "both sides are the same" conclusion - you've already tacitly admitted they are not in fact the same.
