Guess you missed the part where one of the president's most trusted advisors says she wants to expel me and my family (all US citizens...but also hispanic) from the United States.  She wants to get rid of all 65 million of us.  Her words, her numbers.

Yeah, friendo.  Your team wants to exterminate me and my family.  So, congratulations for not facing an existential threat from this regime -- for those of us who ARE facing that threat, go fuck yourself.

Also this.

80% of democrat voters are willing to toss a dem politician in jail if he committed a crime.

80% of GQP voters will absolutely and unconditionally support, defend, and vote for a GQP politician who committed a crime.

As just one nifty little example of the vast difference between the two political philosophies nowadays.  Don't give me that "both sides" bullshit.  One side believes in continuing the democratic republic we have had for 250 years, the other side is openly working to turn it into a full-on autocracy, and scrapping the whole goddamned thing.  Fuck that, and fuck them.

your guy, along with the entire GOP, baselessly accused millions of Democrats of conspiring to rig the vote and steal the election. Then, he spent months with attorneys game-planning how to steal the election DESPTIE BEING TOLD THAT HE HAD LOST. Then, his supporters - urged on by him - stormed the capital in an effort to illegally install him as president.

You can get all the way fucked, my dude.

No, I heard it.  I face every threat you face.  There's no hiding from hate or ignorance.  Every group has its detractors.  Some more than others.  How we react and the hyperbole are where we are very different.  I'm glad there are people like you in the world, Brisket.  It makes it interesting, and it probably serves someone.  Cheers!

Where's the "hyperbole" in people being essentially kidnapped without due process, unable to communicate with their families, and sent to a foreign country to be starved and beaten?

And what kind of government would you call that?

See Fooster's post.  See all the shit Trump does that would have gotten 44 other presidents impeached indicted and convicted, yet he still gets reelected by complete dumbfucks and supported unquestioningly by his party, who really ought to know better.

In all seriousness that is a very broken person whom society has let down.
People need community and they need a sense of purpose and belonging to something bigger than themselves. Organized religion, for all of its many flaws, once filled that need. So did bowling leagues and Freemasonry. For some of us, volunteering or work or even this board fills that need. For some of these people MAGA fills that need. I see those people as victims in an epidemic of isolation and loneliness, even if they aren’t blameless.

When Talarico was on Rogan he said something to the effect that you can only love god as much as you love the person who you love the least. That’s a a Christian perspective. But regardless of the Christianity involved, can we honestly look at that person and not see someone in pain? I can’t.

No, actually we do, and you should look at some easily available real life examples:

Sen. Bob Menendez, post indictment

Quote

  • Menendez’s approval is at 22% among Democrats and 9% among Republicans and independent voters. The Senator’s approval is highest among voters under 30, at 30%, and lowest among voters over 60, at 7%.

Dems demand Menendez resign

on the other hand:

The impact of Trump verdicts:

What side are we talking about here?  It works both ways.  Either you pander to the extreme on one side or the extreme on the other.  Apparently that's how you get a base in this country. i don't align with either extreme.

Can't we just enjoy the job Scotty B is doing.  The fact that the right is being lead by a gay man, stutter and all, pisses off both the left for his aligning with the right (former Soros guy) and the far right homophobes.  Its the chefs kiss, in my opinion.  BravfuckingO.

Lets see how Donald handles the farmer labor shortage.  Either he panders to the farmers or the racists in the base.  If he sides with the farmers how then do you tell your general contractors no soup for you and how does that align with kick the browns out.  They need to do a much better job deliniating who they don't want in this and country and who is ok to stay.  Maybe the Florida "Dignity" bill will assist.  Its too early right now they will deflect that for some time.  They need the hate momentum right now to get a few more bad guys out.

What will be interesting will be the next election.  The left should benefit from a knee jerk to this administration but they've got NOBODY.  JD is bright but has that Pesky Marco who is gonna split the party.  Until then keep the "You got a small peen!" memes coming.  That's some funny shit, but also sad because that's all the left has got right now.  Just saying.

What great job is "Scotty B" doing? Barely restraining Trumps worst impulses?

It doesn't bother you in the least that Trump is firing civil servants and openly defying courts while trying to punish disloyal private businesses?

When did democrats ever do something even remotely similar?

It's becoming clearer that you're a "muh taxes" dude that couldn't give a fuck about anything else.

This is a dangerous misunderstanding of the situation in this country.
first- the purpose of the two parties is to coordinate effort and win elections, but the most important function they played traditionally is to coopt and neutralize radical outsider factions. The Democratic Party has a radical outsider element of around 15%. While noisy, this faction is contained and has no power.

The Republican Party has been radicalized. It is now an insurgent outlier party with only 15-20% of its base occupying a political space in the traditional American conservative tradition.

Theres a ton of formal political science research backing up that conclusion, since well before Trump. Trump is just their avatar.
The Democratic Party sucks in the normal way of political parties but is in no way controlled by its extreme. The fact that you think it is demonstrates a poor media diet or perhaps normalcy bias.
As most people here should have understood long ago, I have not thought of myself as a Democrat in a decade, and am not any sort a of progressive. But I do consider myself a co-belligerent of the Democrats because The Republic and the institutions that hold up civilization are facing existential risk from within the political system. We are drifting towards South American style  authoritarian kleptocracy.

Actually a great example of normal shittiness- Hunter Biden, well connected son of politicians who parleys that into medium sized money, only to get shamed and charge with a crime, brings shame on whole family.
The first family- issues a meme coin and other projects to monetize the executive branch and sell favors immediately upon taking office, while simultaneously dismantling non-partisan bureaucracies. This is the South America playbook- to dismantle institutions and make leaders the source of services. You don’t need to make free speech illegal when the lives and fortunes of your subjects are dependent on your favor.

I know this is the concern for some of you.  Do you know why I'm not concerned because 1) we will never agree to the definition of when we get there so we will never get there 2) the free press 3) the courts 4) we've got too many people like you and others who actually believe this is the fight and are fighting it 5) i don't believe that Trump, even with some people like this in his ear, ultimately wants that. For all his faults he's a business man who will sell out ANYONE for his image/ buck.  In the end he knows being a racist klepto has no end game except being a 3rd world country.  So He's doing, right or wrong to you, what he thinks is best for country, which was IN FACT, walking toward economic disaster.  its first and always first about the economy.  That said he has made his personal social views align with half the country who have anti-left social views.  So good for him and those that think like him, i guess.  For too long this country has favored social justice issues over simple economics. It didn't have to be either or but in my opinion we took our eye off the ball for dumb shit for too long.

As for Trumps family making money on whatever.  IF he's broken the law, prosecute him.  IF not why do you care?  We haven't done much about how AOC a former bar tender is now worth 20million.  The hypocrisy is on both sides.

1) Trust me, you will know when we get there. But by then it will be too late. It might already be.
2) The free press? All they do is bear witness as the light go out. And besides, in a modern autocracy,  tolerating a critical press is one of the ways they maintain the fiction of democracy.
3) The court are a jump ball right now, and the autocratics have length advantage. The Dems have a defensive-PG out there.
4) Thank you, but I don’t actually think there are many of us.
5) Finally, this is not about Trump. Trump is a symptom. The AEI (the last traditional conservative think tank published that piece in 2012. Norm Ornstein and other conservative political scientists started ringing alarm bells about this well over a decade ago. I’m far  less concerned about Trump than I am about what the office of the President will be capable of without any checks and balances.
