Celina ISD parents packed an emergency school board meeting Thursday night after the arrest of middle school football coach and teacher Caleb Elliott, the son of longtime Celina head football coach Bill Elliott.

According to a newly obtained arrest warrant, investigators say the 26-year-old recorded several boys in the locker room during school hours. The warrant states that 12 photos were recovered from Elliott's phone — all described as meeting the criteria of child pornography and showing young boys in various states of dress and undress.

The backstory:
On October 2nd, at least two student athletes reported to police that Elliott was recording or taking photographs of students in the locker room. Both students were forensically interviewed and, according to an arrest warrant, one claimed Elliott was, "constantly on his mobile device while in the locker room area and when he is holding his mobile device, he holds it near his waist in a horizontal manner. If another coach enters the locker room or is in the vicinity, the defendant will either place the mobile device in his armpit area or place it in one of his pockets."

The warrant goes on to say, "out of all coaches, this child thought it was odd as to how long the defendant stayed in the locker room compared to other coaches."

There's an opening for him at Penn State.

To his credit, this was a pretty solid response:

Quote

Caleb Elliott’s father, Bill Elliott, is Celina ISD’s athletic director and head high school football coach. He addressed the parents during the meeting.

"I want justice to be done, and justice will be done, O.K? Understand that. There’s one person to blame for all of this. One person," said Bill Elliott. "But you also need to know that I will always love my son. I will always, just like you love your kids no matter what. Unconditionally, I will love him."

Because in that town, he could easily blame the situation on Hunter Biden and antifa and people would fall all over themselves to support him.

I had the same reaction, but it turns out that that's just terrible terminology:

I give the dad/head coach the benefit of the doubt that he was unaware, but he should also be investigated to understand if he ever looked the other way because he didn't want to believe any allegation. And he should welcome the investigation.

The idea of coaches/student athletes walking around with phones in a locker room is scary. Photos, videos, live streaming. Whether to protect again sexual or bullying reasons, I would think that phones/cameras shouldn't be allowed anywhere near where people are unclothed. Especially young people.

Our kids can't touch their cell phones during school hours.  Should be the same for coaches/teachers.

It's not a 100% correlation, but it's strong.  Those who perpetrate child sexual abuse are often the products of child sexual abuse.  That doesn't necessarily mean at the hands of parents, but it probably does mean relatives or close friends.

And I'm pretty sure that correlation applies to "hands-on" abuse and I would be wary of extending that to this type of thing.  There's a tendency to do that that I am not sure is warranted.

Pedophilia. Is. A. Huge. Problem.

This nation needs to talk openly about sex, if, for no other reason than to shine sunlight’s disinfectant onto dark areas where this evil spreads. I’ll also say, and this in no way excuses adults who prey on children, that most pedophiles were themselves victims of adult predators. Pedos typically abuse more than one child.

This depravity is already off the rails.

This is a big reason why children need to have age-appropriate sex ed at a fairly young age, so that not only can they understand that what is happening to them is wrong and evil, but also be able to express themselves to other adults to let them know that it is happening. Sex ed does not condition children to have sex with each other at earlier ages. It conditions children to reject and report sex from adults. Getting rid of sex ed helps the pedos.

Not surprising, all of this is coming out on a bye week for the football team. No game tonight.

The dad is not just the parent, but also a senior staff member and in the kids leadership chain.  If he had any knowledge and didn't follow the school district policy of reporting to a T, there will be all kinds of Hell braking loose.  This investigation is going to get good.

Any child sexual abuse is a huge problem.

I'm not sure the quantity of it has changed.  Like a lot of things in the last few years, discovery/reporting of it may be more prevalent.

Only if you could somehow convince the community that football is the preferred sport of dirty liberals.

I would wager that more than 90% of child sex abuse cases have some sort of digital record as part of the reporting/evidence.  Photo, text, chat, email, etc....  Would be interesting to see statistics on this from pre/post ~2005.

I'm going to withhold judgment until it can be confirmed that there were not any drag shows simultaneously taking place in the locker room while the photos of pubescent boys in various states of undress were being taken. And were those photos being taken by the deviant drag queens? Perhaps coach was confiscating them so they couldn't be distributed among the drag community.

I mean, that would really explain a lot. Conservative white christian men in positions of authority just don't commit deviant sex crimes like this.

Wow, the Celina Middle School football team had a drag queen for a coach?

I hear you and agree that the father doesn't have to participate in an investigation but then he should also step down from any position at the school as well.

This.  The idea of vast rings of pedophiles and such is wildly overstated. Pedophilia is almost surely occurring at something close to its historical rate, with 95% or more of it being committed by the usual suspects: family members and people in a position of trust (coach, scoutmaster, youth pastor, etc.)

Drag queens and Epstein aren't coming for your kids.  That sort of abuse is statistically insignificant.  Your pastor, your brother-in-law, their coach, THAT'S who's coming for your kids.

Probably, especially since he is likely the one who brought his kid in. If he didn't know anything about it (and that is entirely possible), then it would royally suck to know your kid has been doing this. Hopefully, the dad's status doesn't hinder justice for the boys who were exploited.

Alright, Captain Obvious, bury the lede that CSA is a huge collective issue.

Quote

In the United States, child sexual abuse (CSA) affects approximately 16% of men and 25–27% of women[1, 2], with a broad range of prevalence in other countries around the world[3]

The last phrase in that statement of fact deserves scrutiny, and suggests that the either the percentage of victims is fluid depending on cultural/national environments, or that reporting CSA is fluid depending on the same circumstances. Of course the absolute quantity is increasing, as population increases.

Edited to note that Australia, a nation that is also relatively young and isolated, and which is more open about sex being discussed publicly, reports a CSA prevalence nearly one third of that in the USA.

I notice you didn't mention gay as a adjective for these people in position of trust.  Its not illegal/against policy for gay male coaches to be in boys locker rooms.  In this case, the access seems like it might have been too tempting for him.

He was also male, the gender responsible for 80+ percent of CSA crimes.

Well being that there's a metric shitton of non-gay child molestation (yeah, check on your daughters and such....almost all of their molestation is by straight men).  The most common denominator is "molesters are male" (notwithstanding the fun people have in posting hot female teachers who diddle their students).

The problem - if you want to narrow it down to "one group" -- isn't gay men, it isn't straight men.....it's "men."

Not that I support broad condemnation of men as predators, or any shit like that.  A pedo is a pedo.   I have been around kids a jillion times in my life, male and female.  I have managed to molest zero kids.  Not because I'm straight, or if I was gay, because I was gay, but because I'm not a pedo predator.  Some men, however, are pedo predators.  Deal with it on a case-by-case basis.

Oh, and as for the instances of gay men committing sex crimes against boys, dig a little deeper.  How often is the perpetrator a closet case who society, his family, etc., has forced to live a lie?  Want to make it less likely that a gay dude will turn predator?  Stop stigmatizing being gay.  Let the dude live his life, have sex with other consenting dudes without being judged, hated, or ostracized, and I suspect you'd see the instances of abuse by gay men (which, again, is not materially statistically greater than their presence in society as a whole) drop.  Shit, that's a big part of the molesting priest problem: society told gay men they can't be gay, the priesthood was a recommended "refuge" for them to be celibate, except they just got stuck there being super sexually frustrated.  If Father Diddlepants had just been allowed to be Regular Gay Dude, he'd just be out there sipping chardonnay and having gay sex with other consenting gay guys, instead of feeling tempted by all the altar boys.

Leave consenting adults alone.  Stop stigmatizing consenting adults.  And make anyone - of any sexual orientation - who has sex without consent (rape, pedophilia, etc.) pay a hefty price.  Oh, and teach your kids about sex so they know that it's wrong when Uncle Grabbyhands grabs their peepee or their hooha.

Absolutely. Talking about sex, and to be clear I mean factual talk, removes that stigma, that secrecy, which can lead to victims remaining silent.

Besides Prosper #4 in state right now. Let's go PHS!

Unfortunately, the young man who reported it had better just move to another town.  If you are familiar with small town football dynamics, you know that he will be found out and persecuted until he leaves town or dies.

Interesting that you're keeping stats.  What are your numbers for other demographics (e.g., pets, stuffed animals, clothing store mannequins)?

About 10 years ago, my best friend, who's a HS football coach in Seattle, flew down and we went to the state championships at Jerryworld.  Celina was playing West Orange-Stark, and before the game, Celina's cheerleaders dragged out and lifted up a big "run-through" sign that said, "FOOTBALL.  FAITH.  FAMILY.  NOWHERE BUT CELINA" with the Celina logo and a big cross on it.  My friend looked at me and said, "I thought these were public schools?"

I said, Welcome to Texas.

There are only a few things sacred enough to override your personification (football, Christian man...).  When your child gets sexually preyed on, its over. No one gets let off the hook for that.  Prove me wrong.

You think this.  And you're kinda right.  At least, as to how the families of the identified victims feel.  But you have missed this truth:

The rest of the team and the town are gonna blame the victim for "ruining Celina football," and "not keeping it in the family -- football is family!"  That's how these things work.
