We caught an NFL QB with NFL OL and NFL WR firing on all cylinders.  Not our night.

The fumbles cost us that game.

Penix was throwing darts in the smallest of windows.  And his receivers were making great catches. Tip your hat and give props when due.

The secondary got torched and we could not pressure Penix. Albeit he and his WRs godlike performance, we still had a chance.

We only got the ball with a chance to win because of a very unfortunate injury timeout on the Washington side. If we had won that game it would have been the back in of all back ins.

We lost because we brought a bad pass defense to a matchup with the best passing offense since 2019 LSU. That said, the defense competed and forced Washington to make several difficult plays. They made them. What margin for error Texas had evaporated by fumbling away two turnovers. You can look at a couple different ways but it boils down to Washington being the better team. Is what it is.

Which game?  The one on Saturday?  Or the 2024 game?  Oh, what about the 1999 Cotton Bowl game when Ricky Williams ran all over Jackie Sherrill's team after winning the Heisman!?!?  That game was awesome.  Kwame Cavil caught a touchdown in that game.  Remember him?

Correct. Never really felt like we had a chance in that game (until the fluke injury timeout) but in true Texas fashion, we found a way to rip our fans hearts out and lose the game in the most soul crushing fashion possible.

Many sportsbooks went from Texas -7.5 to Texas -6.5 back to Texas -7.5.

10 units on MSST +7.5 for me. Hedging my happiness Saturday. Needed that hook though.

Still think we win something like 21-17/24-21.

Last week’s Texas ML & the under parlay was def the move to feel better about the worst offensive performance I’ve watched since the Arky Texas Bowl that I was dumb enough to go to.

I was born in 83 and besides the Roll Left upset (which was followed by getting hammered by Jim Druckenmiller then route 66) this was probably the first game in my Texas fan life where I believed we actually weren't going to suck anymore

Im sensing a comfortable Texas win with a solid offensive performance and shutdown defensive game.

You mean it wasn't borderline erotic?

How is it that Alabama Sark did not notice the OL that did not suck and was key to their Championship? How obtuse is that?

I’m just glad Lebby doesn’t have a dual-threat QB.

Not quite yet... Taylor needs another year it seems. He played 4 straight plays last week and was given the option finally throw the ball and didn't find the open receiver so bailed. This is why we have to protect Shapen. Technically Luke K from fsu is 2nd string I believe but hasn't shown much in his chances.

This MSU commentator/reporter thinks Texas wins 31-13, which kind of surprised me. Says that the MSU DL is their weak link defensively so Texas OL issues won't be exposed as much.

Personally, I don't feel great about this game at all. Think we will need an effort similar to OU game to win. Anything less and we're in trouble IMO.

This guy is not affiliated with msu in anyway I can find. A damn OU grad and fan. I strongly disagree with his assessment.

Also the other video posted was a better breakdown of msu offense and defense minus they focused on 2 or 3 plays specifically Reese pass blocking VS TN when he was hurt.  Is he better now? Yes but far from talented but definitely serviceable.

Just a friendly reminder to bet the under.

It’s 44.5.
(texas has hit under in 10 of last 16 games)

Between solid D and an O that loves to go three and out no way this ends up high scoring game

If ya wanna go sure bets bet on MSU to cover. We are 6-1 against the spread this year

And finally.  Good luck Horns. I deeply wish I could drive back over to Starkville for the game.

It's not typical to say... I expect a good close game on Saturday. So I'll take it when it happens.

I fully expect our offensive line to struggle with pass block / blitzes... But with success with running with Booth and Gayten (really need him to hit more on the outside for his size)  we can slow that down some unless we get in 3rd and 7+ distances. We need Fluff but it doesn't look like he will be healthy. Booth is frustrating because he dances to the holes too much and thus shorter runs.

Defense we have to get pressure on Arch thru blitzes as our 3man down won't make it happen. Especially using twists that have shown to confuse the OL.... Which we have the same issues.

I feel like the final score is much like the UK game. A fg difference which Ferrie has shown he can hit from 55 yards earlier this season

I'm taking MSU 27 - 24

2 passing td's - 1of which to Thompson for 40+ yards. 1 rushing td

You are totally unbiased in every way

In early August, $2k on less than 10 wins. Hedging my happiness Season.

As someone who listened to a lot of opponent previews this season, this is exactly what was said about the pass rush for UF and UK. Can’t get pressure on anyone - until they played us.

I don't gamble, but if I did:

1) glance at Texas's opponent, don't bother reading anything about it

2) bet the under

honestly the line moving more in favor texas makes me feel more confident in the game because it makes no fucking sense.  i'm doing the same thing as you and going relatively heavy on Miss St. +7.5.  waited all week for the hook and got it yesterday.

Yeah. I think most of us logically look at what happened last week and feel certain Sarkisian saw the same thing and will respond with a more OU-like gameplan. And then I realize there is nothing logical about what we did last week.

We touched the hot stove with a finger versus Florida and burned the shit out of it. We put on all the cooling and healing salves in Dallas, then turned on the burners and held both hands down on the stove again against Kentucky.

Arrogance and stubbornness combined are coach killers. Ask John Mackovic. I would say ask Mack Brown, but he still hasn’t learned shit.

I think Sark can make it easier on the players for sure but how this game goes is flat out going to come down to how the wildly inconsistent offense executes per usual.  If the OL isn't a complete disaster and Arch can hit the easy throws we can score 30 on offense.  Or we could look like we did against UTEP, FL and UK and score 10.  Who knows what we're going to get.

I'm a little nervous about whether the Defense can continue to hold up.  4 straight away from home, losing Taafe, playing 80+ plays last week....    They (MSU) know all of that and will absolutely play the TOP game and try to win it in the 4th quarter against a tired defense.   This is a game where getting a 2 score lead early and making them chase would be really helpful.

Listen, I realize the Kentucky game was an absolute beating to watch. And for a lot of us, this year has not gone quite as we imagined it. And yet. And ... yet. Do you realize that there are just six weeks of regular season college football left? And that the offseason and its 200-plus days without football lies just over the horizon?

So yes, it's fine to not be excited about the game tomorrow. It's OK to have some existential dread about the offense. But you should not, for one moment, forget that this is the best time of year. Football games every day of the week. Cooler weather arriving. These are the times, my friends.

Excited? No. I doubt I could be excited to be playing a shitty Mississippi State team in any universe. I don't think I could be excited to be playing a great Mississippi State team in any universe, either, if I'm being totally honest. I find that school and program to be abysmally boring. They're the SEC version of Iowa State or Indiana or Wake Forest. Indiana is great this year and who is excited to play them? Mississippi State probably would be, I bet.

I am, however, anxiously looking forward to the game, for the reasoning you mentioned. There is nothing better than CFB season. I watched Teh Major get win #2 for the year last night against a Georgia State team that is now 1-7. A clash of 1-6 teams, and it was a great game to watch, especially while drinking homemade rye Manhattans.

Amen. Am grateful for Texas football for as long as we got it. No amount of frustration on the offense will change that. Invested.

If Sark would quit playing with himself and game plan similar to the OU game I could be talked into taking a big hit from the hopium pipe, but after Kentucky who has any clue what we are gonna get Saturday? For that reason alone, I'm very anxious to watch just to see if hes actually gonna keep humping that monkey or if he's going to make the obvious adjustments. I do think if we can survive Miss St then we have a great shot at home against Vandy. We make it that far, that means Sark has come to his senses and I think we are borderline dangerous.

Will be at the Bruins game during the Texas game. I can only handle so much fandom disappointment in one day.
