Bagdad Beach so it was an honest mistake. Plus they only missed the target Country by about 10 miles and no brave Americans were killed or injured in the heroic operation.

... from a Trump apologist

Have we heard anything about that since Dotard's tweet a day ago? Anyone on the Sunday shows answer any questions about us supposedly shutting down another country's airspace? Seems kind of important.

Answers don’t matter. They’re going to do whatever they want. No other country will do anything about it either. Big nuclear arsenal out front shoulda told ya.

A war against Venezuela is going to go even worse for him than the Epstein files.  Everyone will have the exact same initial reaction.  Why the fuck are we invading Venezuela?

There's a joke among journalists in Europe whenever we start shit somewhere. Something along the line of "looks like they found American oil under another country's land"

I gotta admit, for as insanely batshit evil and deranged as I - of all people - knew this was going to be, even I didn't have "start a random-ass completely unprovoked war with a major South American nation" on my bingo card.  And that's a bingo card that has "launch an airstrike against locations in California" on it.  This is just inexplicably stupid and wrong-headed and extra-constitutional and fucking nuts.

See. Maduro will come to the US to meet trump. The president will “detain” him. Then he can collect the $50m award. Trump appoints a transition government. Usmc takes Maracaibo. All Americans promised a check.

Much more likely that Maduro makes a commitment to buy $500 million in Trumpcoin per year, prompting Trump to post:

"Invasion of Venezuela CANCELLED.  Venezuela commits to NO MORE DRUGS, and free trade with US, at levels never seen before.  Maduro is now a great friend of your favorite president, Trump, which means he is now a great friend to AMERICA.  American investment in Venezuela is now welcome, together we will MAKE VENEZUELA GREAT AGAIN! NOBLE PEACE PRIZE FOR TRUMP?"

i woulda guessed the cartels in mexico would be first, but nope, cuz communist oil. or maybe viewed as weaker, or bof.

but make no mistake, mexico is on the chopping block. funny enough, just ignoring the obv sovereignty issues that will be violated, the cartels need an ass kicking. could be some joint US/Mexico plan but alas we know that won't happen. sigh.

this is also true. just good ole fashioned extortion for personal gain. already happened in SE Asia and the gulf states. Using American gov resources to force international cooperation.

totally cool!

Bill Cassidy can suck it.

Venezuela has relatively modern SAM systems, significantly more modern than Iranian anti air, but at the same time more asymmetric, the S-300 systems will probably be gone early, but there are 12 Buk M, 44 Pechora S-125, a handful of Pantsir Russia delivered overnight. All of these are medium to short range but at the same time they can all essentially be in ambush configuration.

SAR capabilities will be put to the test in finding them before they turn their radars on in an ambush. There was a relatively decent amount of success in hunting Iranian TELs but at the same time it was not even close to 100% success, probably 5% daily degradation, and that is with them firing every night.

Lets Go Start GIF

Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Arizona, said on the Nov. 30 episode of "Meet the Press" that the Senate Armed Services will hold a public hearing on potentially illegal military orders issued by U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.

"We're going to put these people under oath and we're going to find out what happened," Kelly said, referring to military members involved in a Sept. 2 strike ordered by Hegseth on survivors of an initial hit on a boat that the Trump administration claimed was carrying drug cargo, as reported by The Washington Post.

"People can tell the difference, should be able to tell the difference between something that is unlawful and something that is lawful," Kelly said. He added that he was concerned that orders handed down to troops would put them "in a tough place" and that they would later find out "they did something illegal," though the senator did not specify which orders would be illegal.

Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee Roger Wicker, R-Mississippi, said in an Nov. 28 statement that the committee has directed inquiries to the defense department about the strikes, "and we will be conducting vigorous oversight to determine the facts related to these circumstances."

Wicker, along with Sen. Jack Reed, D-Rhode Island, the ranking Democrat on the committee, have sent Hegseth multiple requests for basic information including legal justifications and intelligence underpinning individual strikes.

I've seen the full video from Air Force One, but here's the most relevant part, and looking like they'll try to find a scapegoat:

Trump: "No, I wouldn't have wanted that. Not a second strike…Pete said that didn't happen."

Q: "Are you saying there was no second strike?"

Trump: "I don't know. I'm going to find out. But Pete said he did not order the death of those two men."

According to Trump, every American has died at least ten times from drugs

Explain to me why this won’t just be memory holed next week like every other insane thing this admin has done?  Even if the Fox News guy were to get tried by the military, would anyone outside of that circle actually care and/or know?

It maybe Congress’s only chance to stop an invasion of Venezuela. And he does not have enough support in Congress as it is, otherwise he wouldn’t be trying to use 9/11 bullshit to justify this, but would have asked for the authority. He keeps track of what elected Republicans say about him and he knows there’s enough resistance to war with Venezuela.

The fact that Trump is trying to deny it happened in his own way is significant. This is the guy who bragged about killing an Iranian general, who has openly talked about six Dems in Congress should be executed.  And then somebody told him this is a problem and all of the sudden he doesn’t think it’s right to kill two dudes clinging to wreckage, even though he claimed their boatload of drugs would have killed 25,000 Americans.

Somebody told him this wasn’t good. Maybe they even told him that this was the kind of illegal orders that Kelly and others were warning about. Maybe it’s why we’ve seen a couple of senior officers step back or step down.

Trump is up to something, and we may have been days away from civilian Venezuelan aircraft being shot down by American fighters, but this “double tap” thing has him spooked so me thinks there’s a lot more to it.

He changed it mid-sentence when he realized he was talking about Americans.

TRANSCRIPT POTUS CALL WITH MADURO 15:04EST

POTUS:  Nicolas- listen to me Nicolas. I consider you a friend. I met you the one time and I studied you. You are a very hard person to study, because you are sending out messages that are important to the Venuzuelan people. I consider you a friend and I consider you a very smart man. To be very honest with you, I did not want to have to hurt you or your country, but we need to fix this and you are going to change your country to prevent some very bad things from-

MADURO: Senior El Presidente Trump, we cannot accomplish this important thing together on the phone. I want to invite you to chupa.

POTUS: To Chupa?

MADURA: Si Presidente Trump, I want to invite you to chupa mi verga, viejo de merda!

(laughter in background)

POTUS: Nicolas? Nicolas?

(inaudible)

I don’t know he invited me to a get together but

CALL TERMINATED 15:08EST

I have a bad feeling that his answer to any question about our national security, from anyone, is basically, "I don't want to comment on it. The answer is such and such."

He's so proud of himself for knowing secrets that he can't help but give them away so that everyone knows how important he is.

What do Putin, Kim, and Xi not know about us at this point?  They are probably going to nuke us with our own missiles someday.

So this is allegedly from US Southern Command? And we're still trying to convince ourselves that "oh, the military wouldn't follow illegal orders" when it comes to this (or anything else)?

There's a lot of rot that will need to be excised when the time comes. I still have hope that the vast majority of our military will do the right thing in any circumstances when illegal orders are given, but it's gonna be messy if that comes to a head.

Was the Dem video about not following illegal orders them having prior knowledge of Whiskey Pete’s actions on killing the 2 guys hanging from the boat?

How so?  Is the argument "it's his fault for following our insane, stupid, and illegal orders....and it totally is NOT our fault for giving those orders?"
