October 21Oct 21 Gonna be loud in Toronto. Steal game 1 to take a little wind out of their sails. Should be a god matchup. Edited October 21Oct 21 by Sbbruin

October 21Oct 21 Go Jays I'll also be rooting for George to move up to at least a tie for 5th. No dilution by extra rounds on this list Edited October 21Oct 21 by WBT
October 21Oct 21 Will I watch? Probably not, unless it goes to game 7 But rooting for George to win another ring. And to slay the Dodgers, yet again

The Jays shouldn't have much of a chance against the big blue baseball machine. But...it is baseball so all kinds of weird things might happen. Looking forward to it.
October 21Oct 21 so I guess I've been out of it. Didn't the all-star winning league used to get home field for the WS? When did that stop being the case?

In each year, the team that went 7 won the World Series How many of those teams had Ohtani on it? Everything gets thrown out when it comes to facing this group of Dodgers. Also the American League was trash again this year just like last year. Dodgers win 2 in a row. Get ready to see them win several more titles after this. I can tell you that most baseball gear you see here is for Ohtani and now Yamamoto. Sure it won’t be long until Sasaki starts selling a decent amount of jerseys as well. You can ask people here from Japan that do not follow the sport that well how the Dodgers are doing and they can tell you solely because of Ohtani. The Dodgers have money to burn, a once-in-a-lifetime talent and more great players around him than anyone else has. I think it’s cool that LA will win again. I hope they keep winning because Ohtani is so much fun to watch and he is, by far, the best ambassador this sport has.

October 23Oct 23 Chat GPT told me the Dodgers payroll + tax was 5x the Brewers and is still over 2x the Blue Jays. I know this isn’t new news but that’s ridiculous to me. This is my beef with baseball.
October 23Oct 23 Something that is RIGHT about baseball... Springer's advocacy for kids who stutter illuminated on biggest stage TORONTO -- George Springer is many things, a list that just grew again with his Game 7 heroics in the ALCS. He’s a World Series champion, a World Series MVP, a four-time All-Star and now the author of one of the greatest moments in Blue Jays history, his three-run home run in the seventh inning Monday to beat the Mariners and send the Blue Jays to their first World Series since 1993. Oct 20, 2025 · Field View: George Springer's go-ahead home run Springer is also an advocate for kids who stutter. Springer stutters, himself, and has since he was a child, but as he’s grown into a big league star, he’s used his platform to encourage kids who stutter and empower them to say what they want to say. October 22 is International Stuttering Awareness Day, another opportunity to shine a light on the work Springer has done in his work with organizations like SAY (Stuttering Association for the Young). “If you ask any of my teammates and coaches, it’s no secret. ... I like to talk,” Springer said at an event last season benefitting SAY. “I will talk your ear off all day, even if you don’t want me to. It didn’t used to be that way. For all of the kids or the parents who have a child who stutters, or has come across somebody who does, I hope that I can be proof that things do get easier. You can do what you want to do. You can say what you want to say. You can be who you want to be.” The CN Tower, which climbs 1,815.5 feet into the air next to Rogers Centre and is visible across Toronto, will be lit green Wednesday night to recognize International Stuttering Awareness Day. An estimated 1% of the world’s population stutters, which would account for over three million Americans and 400,000 Canadians. According to the National Stuttering Association, up to 5% of kids go through a period of stuttering, too, which often begins in the range of 2 to 5 years old. While many kids who stutter in their childhood ultimately stop stuttering, many others, Springer included, deal with it into adulthood. Hosting his annual benefits, Springer has always turned the conversation back to the kids he works with, saying how much they’ve helped him in return. Besides, Springer is just a 36-year-old kid himself. Mar 1, 2023 · Mateo and George He’s the biggest personality on the Blue Jays. Sure, things tighten up in the postseason and grow more serious as October rolls on, but Springer is always the life of the party, filling every room he enters with sound and energy. “You can’t let something that you can’t control stop you from being who you want to be,” Springer said. “There are a lot of really good people in this world who will help and a lot of really good people who don’t care [about your stutter]. One of the most important things I hope everybody understands is that you just need to embrace it. Embrace who you are. Embrace how you talk." Springer has been an important public figure for people who live with a stutter, especially kids. They can look up to an MLB star who has not just spoken openly about his stutter over the years, but embraced it as part of who he is. Now, he’s on the biggest stage in baseball, chasing the Blue Jays’ first World Series championship in 32 years. Edited October 23Oct 23 by Iceman
October 23Oct 23 Aww man that’s awesome that he helps kids who are going through what he did at that age. I remember President Biden had given out his personal number to several kids (pre-presidency) who stuttered like he did so they could talk to him when they needed help. I am sure Springer probably is in contact with several of the kids in that same way.

October 23Oct 23 Soon we'll have a two week Super Bowl delay between championship series and WS. NBA does the near week-long wait as well. It's dumb.

Never liked the fact that they changed that rule. It significantly impacts strategy and the game in general. Back in the days of having to throw the pitches, it wasn't unusual that the pitcher would intentionally walk someone and then have a hard time finding the strike zone against the next hitter. In what was one of the dumber decisions I've ever seen a manager make, I saw a manager bring in a reliever when the starter was clearly done. So what does the manager do? He has the reliever issue an intentional walk to the first batter he faces. And then the reliever couldn't find the strike zone against the next two hitters -- gave up two unintentional walks, one of which walked in a run. If you were gonna intentionally walk the next hitter, why not just have the starter finish out his game by throwing four soft-tosses three feet off the plate, and *then* bring in the reliever? Maybe the reliever would have been wild anyway, but having to throw his first four pitches way off the plate certainly didn't help him. I've also seen a pitch intended to be part of an intentional walk mistakenly thrown too close to the plate and hammered for a hit similar to what Atwood did for the Lady Horns in the last WCWS.
