“that never gets called here”

What were they referring to?  The ground rule double?  That’s a textbook ground rule double.

Dead ball/ground rule double for ball lodged under the padding at the base of the wall

Liberal interpretation of “lodged”

Who is the hero tomorrow night?

Scherzer with the bookend to a HOF career?

Vlad with the springboard to his HOF career?

Springer crush the Dodgers in another game 7?

Ohtani rise to (pass?) Tiger-level dominance in his sport?

Freeman with another all time World Series moment?

Mookie shaking off a poor postseason with a clutch hit or two?

Role player with a Joe Carter-type moment?

Just don’t be a Nelson Cruz or Aaron Judge defensive moment or Blue Jays TOOTBLAN that decides it

Inject this shit straight in to my veins!

WTF are you talking about?  It was literally stuck at the base of the padding.

Come on now, they would’ve walked Springer

Putting the championship run on is bold.

Narratively for the Dodgers, it’s either a  Freeman HR or Ohtani opening and Yamamoto closing on short rest.

No chance Yoshi goes tomorrow unless it’s another 15+ inning game

Yesavage channeling Bumgarner in relief

I had “can Yesavage continue his Cinderella story before the clock the strikes midnight?” but deleted it

Also, Happy Game 7 day to all who celebrate, which means this thread

That wedge call wouldn't have been made without Kiké's telling what's his face not to touch it. If Dean had touched it, then no call. It would have been easy enough to grab the ball and I'll bet most players would have. Kiké however knew the rule. Maybe that's what the Jays announcer meant?

adding

It's the same thing when a ball gets stuck in the ivy. Even though it might be right there for everyone to see, the fact that it's stuck on the Cubs wall means it's a GRD.

https://baseballrulesacademy.com/lodged-ball-explanation/

A lodged ball is covered by Rule 5.05 (a) (7). A ball is considered lodged if, in the judgment of the umpire, the natural trajectory of the flight of the ball is interrupted long enough to affect further play. A batter ball that sticks in a fence, scoreboard, shrubbery, or vines located on the playing field should be considered a lodged ball.

I don't think it mattered either way.  Barger was the run that mattered and he wouldn't have been able to stretch that to a triple.

I’ve seen that call multiple times, it’s rare but not out of the blue. The fact that it didn’t bounce back is all it takes. I’ve seen players then try to play it and it’s easy to dislosge and I’ve seen where it’s not so easy. The player doesn’t know. That’s why it’s a fucking rule. At every level of baseball. It’s the least controversial call that can possibly exist. It’s a double. Sports fans drive me crazy sometimes, already seen more than one post about how Toronto was “screwed.” No, they weren’t.

I’m also not mad at the base runner at the end. The whole stadium thought it was dropping. And even still it was a split second or he’s safe. Just a great play by Kike and Rojas.

I’ve changed my mind on this, runner fucked up. Considering the situation, runners should know the out field was shallow and any catch would be a quick toss back to the infield.

Starting Max, huh?

Not sure about that one. Guess it depends on which Max takes the mound.

He’ll be on a short leash.  Everyone will be.

Well let’s see if we can get through this game without Fox pulling their programming from YouTube TV.

Someone is cutting onions next to me with this Scherzer promo.

Speaking of, any national game on Fox/FS1 is free on foxsports.com as long as you as you have some kind of provider with their station. No app, nothing, just go to the website & hit play.

This "dynasty" shit is stupid. This is a totally different team than 2020.

can max scherzer, the warrior god, tap into his prime self for one night? that’s the big question for me.

And can Ohtani channel his inner samurai.

This might be my last post. Not sure I can survive game seven and that 4th quarter in the same day. Go Dodgers. Nice knowing you fellas.

Honestly NBA Finals last season was pretty huge.

I remember feeling like this about the 2016 WS when the Cubs won.

I agree though this feels like a really fucking big deal. I'm hooked.

top 5 sports moment of my life. this has been the best world series since then.

Let’s fudge the rules for Ohtani some more. Take all the time you need to warm up. There already is the Ohtani DH rule

shohei can take "pitch a no hitter in the world series" off his vision board

WTF was Springer doing there?  Did he just assume it was ball 4?  Sucka.

2017 Series was pretty insane but I don't think many people were neutral

Yeah no one cares about your gay cheating title.

It's so fucking insane that Shohei is throwing this game.

Might need to yank him.

Blue giving Ohtani both sides of the plate. Fuck this asshole.
