I was on the edge for all the over the top shock scare shit, but ep 6 and 7 have been good. 7 was the "new" one. Hope they decently stick the landing. Makes me wish Castle Rock had worked out. Question for book guys.. is the 27y ancient cycle mentioned in the book? Saw both movies at time of release and don't recall mention of a cycle. Other than the kids then adults i always assumed was an event that only happened to the original losers club Edited December 12Dec 12 by BurgleBro

The police chief who framed him is Clint Bowers, who is Henry Bower’s dad from the book. Clint is Henry's grandpa. Henry's dad was Butch. Yes, the cycle is mentioned in the book. Hank Grogan isn't in the book, but there's an offhand reference to Bev having a friend named Ronnie Grogan. I think TV show Ronnie is just an Easter egg for fans of the book.
December 12Dec 12 This show is weird for me. IT is maybe my favorite book of all time, but I am enjoying this show pretty much entirely for all of the side plots and characters. The military plot is hilariously dumb and completely unbelievable. It doesn't ruin the show for me but holy shit is it a waste of screen time aside from getting to know Dick Halloran a little bit better.
December 16Dec 16 And setting up for season 2! Not great, but I am liking the linkage of the King universe.
December 16Dec 16 Pretty bad. I was rooting for Pennywise in the end. Didn't really want to see anyone live. You'd have to try pretty hard to come up with a worse story given the source material.
December 17Dec 17 And setting up for season 2! Not great, but I am liking the linkage of the King universe. IT has exhausted material to say the least. We’re nearly 10 years in Stranger Things and little kids getting Freddy Kreugered is not as interesting.HBO should just spin off with Dick Holloran in London or wherever he said he was going, get a new showrunner and see what happens. Dude was pretty good.Production value was top notch.
December 17Dec 17 I don’t understand a season 2. Didn’t we catch up to the previous book and movies at the end of season one? Are they going to make up some Pennywise stuff during it’s 27 year hibernation?

So my maths says 1937 and the Bradley Gang.

December 19Dec 19 Meh. It was exactly what I thought a non source material king show would be. Just like Castle Rock, there were some compelling characters, promising story lines, a glimmer of hope then a mish mashed herky jerky landing. I'm glad Skarsgard played his role and the original clown flash back was cool. Hallorann was great too. I don't think I'll prioritize a season 2 if it comes to be.
Sunday at 11:42 PM3 days Finally got around to watching this. Was really hoping it was going to be like the little vignettes from the book about each time IT visited Derry (those were the most interesting parts of the book to me). There was some of that, but rest of it was meh.

Funny, I had the same feeling about ripoffs while watching and now can’t recall the specifics.
Monday at 02:03 AM3 days The other biggest ripoff to me was the kids having to pass the dagger around, not being able to carry it too long like LOTR. Agree with others, the show had some good moments but overall was just ok. Kind of like the 2 movies tbh.
