The many faces of Herman continues

Klatt said he and Day would be most ready for NFL.  Cowherd said he’d leave for Buffalo if that job was available

Klatt also said LSU was a top 3 job but we were the best job

Edited by Im_smarter_then_you

That tom herman is in his 70’s, the tom herman we know has a nasal cavity of a 70 year old but is only 45.

Until proven otherwise I’d argue Ohio state is the best job in college football.

Until Ohio State moves out of Columbus, I'll have to respectfully disagree.  Blech.

Unfortunately Austin doesn’t make Texas a better job than Ohio state.

I concur, I remember reading somewhere on here that Day was eventually going to fall apart due to not recruiting lineman and being in over his head. It would appear Ohio state is just fine and that machine stays humming along with a, allegedly, semi-competent staff. Id even argue Oklahoma is a better gig if the head coach is solid. They have way more hardware and national championship opportunities from their run with stoops/riley than Texas does with anybody since Royal.

They've hired better coaches.  Doesn't make it a better gig.

They are equipped with top of the line NIL on par with us, they are also equipped to compete in the bag game. They are completely aligned on football from top down for decades.

The OL was dogshit under Herman too, but it was more solid sun dried chunks while Sark’s OL is cold slippery diarrhea with dudes rolling around each other all over the floor.

OL play took an immediate step up on Sark/Flood's arrival.  That may have been a confluence of talent/scheme/coaching.

What it didn't do was progress over subsequent years.

So because they cheat it's a better gig?  When Texas is highly ranked, they eclipse the amount of coverage and exposure of OU by many multiples.  In the end it's about identifying top coaches.  Something they have done better up until now in spades.

Dumdum didn't understand that the post he was responding to wasn't referring to OSU, but OU.

I’d argue it’s taken a significant step backwards since last season.

I admittedly don’t track OL’s year to year. Is it common to lose 3 starters, including a dominant 3 year starter all American LT, and not take a step back?

Day has made the playoffs 4 out of 6 seasons at Ohio State and had his head firmly in the guillotine last year until a miracle run through the playoffs.  Sounds a lot like a cesspool.

Don't keep losing to your rival.  Fans only tolerate that shit so long.

He’s talking about Ohio State, not oklahoma

Good Christ

Fans thinking their team is always the best gig is nothing new.

With NIL the margin of error is much smaller now. They ain’t giving you more than 5 years in most cases if you haven’t even won or played in a CCG game. So When donors are dolling out $20 million for players and other team improvements it tends to piss them off when they lose at home to A&M. Losing routinely to a rival tends to piss off the donors. Watching a HC not get over the hump nor bring home any titles like Kelly after 5 years tends to piss them off. To them, the HC is flushing $20 million or more a year down the toilet with nothing to show for it. It doesn’t help if the HC is a dick or has messy shit happening on a personal level.

Right now there aren’t many “sure things” to fill all these vacancies. I have no doubt a school will pick an up and coming OC that overachieves or some coach no one thought would be so badass and who becomes the guy on everyone’s wishlist (Cignetti.) these ridiculous HC contracts (thanks Sexton) are making things worse. Ridiculous buyouts, more money flushed down the toilet. 🚽

It hasn’t just taken a step back, it’s cratered and it isn’t exactly recovering 8 games into the season. (I honestly didn’t think I needed to even delve that deeply into the “this OL is playing like shit” discussion).

Username checks out, by the way.

Put it this way.  If we had a draft of potential schools to coach at, Texas would be top three at worst.  Money, location, tradition etc.  who can beat it.  Here’s my top 5

Texas

tosu

USC

LSU

ND

oregon

UGA

florida

michigan

Bama

Not uncommon at all. The malpractice is not hitting the portal for OL
