October 30Oct 30 That tom herman is in his 70’s, the tom herman we know has a nasal cavity of a 70 year old but is only 45.

I concur, I remember reading somewhere on here that Day was eventually going to fall apart due to not recruiting lineman and being in over his head. It would appear Ohio state is just fine and that machine stays humming along with a, allegedly, semi-competent staff. Id even argue Oklahoma is a better gig if the head coach is solid. They have way more hardware and national championship opportunities from their run with stoops/riley than Texas does with anybody since Royal.

OL play took an immediate step up on Sark/Flood's arrival. That may have been a confluence of talent/scheme/coaching. What it didn't do was progress over subsequent years.

When Texas is highly ranked, they eclipse the amount of coverage and exposure of OU by many multiples. In the end it's about identifying top coaches. Something they have done better up until now in spades.

October 30Oct 30 Fans thinking their team is always the best gig is nothing new. With NIL the margin of error is much smaller now. They ain’t giving you more than 5 years in most cases if you haven’t even won or played in a CCG game. So When donors are dolling out $20 million for players and other team improvements it tends to piss them off when they lose at home to A&M. Losing routinely to a rival tends to piss off the donors. Watching a HC not get over the hump nor bring home any titles like Kelly after 5 years tends to piss them off. To them, the HC is flushing $20 million or more a year down the toilet with nothing to show for it. It doesn’t help if the HC is a dick or has messy shit happening on a personal level. Right now there aren’t many “sure things” to fill all these vacancies. I have no doubt a school will pick an up and coming OC that overachieves or some coach no one thought would be so badass and who becomes the guy on everyone’s wishlist (Cignetti.) these ridiculous HC contracts (thanks Sexton) are making things worse. Ridiculous buyouts, more money flushed down the toilet. 🚽 My opinion and I don’t know shit from crisco. Edited October 30Oct 30 by Nicole44

It hasn’t just taken a step back, it’s cratered and it isn’t exactly recovering 8 games into the season.
