Sarkisian went on the SEC morning show today and doubled down on both Texas deserving to be in the playoffs and reconsidering the OOC schedule going forward. He basically said, with the SEC going to 9

Notre Dame won 3 playoff games last year, including a dogwalking of this year's #1 Indiana. They also have the best player in college football and have won 10 straight games.

And lost to a shitty A&M and a shitty Miami. And played a lot of spares.

Is it time for this yet or do we have to wait for this ESPN selection show drone on another hour?

The committee made their choices. Even putting BYU ahead of us says everything.

Cancel every p4 non con game going forward. Fuck it, cancel OSU next year and Michigan the year after too. Tell them we'll see them in the playoffs. All that matters is record, losing no more than 2 games with an SEC schedule.

Your contention was that we had some reasonable shot at getting in the playoffs but were now being "hosed" and held out.

After loss 3 we never had a reasonable shot.  Sorry Skip, it is you who don't get it, but keep fucking that chicken.

Reasonable? Where did I ever say we had a reasonable shot of getting in the playoffs? Show us where, chief.  You can’t, because it’s not there.

Update: a 9 win team has never made the playoffs in the 2 year history of the 12 team playoffs. 10 wins is still the minimum for consideration

Why do FCS wins count toward the win total?

Yeah, that's not happening. We'll probably get rid of Notre Dame. Arizona State isn't someone we should worry about beating.

He also called anyone who thought 10-2 Miami would get in over 9-3 Texas "mongoloids".

The criteria are fuzzy, and so the results can seem absurd.  Until the CFP committee locks down the criteria (which would likely mean they render themselves irrelevant) there are always going to be head-scratcher results.  Ultimately, I'm not all that upset, because this team just isn't great.  It's very good, but I don't think a run to the finals would be in the cards.  I would have liked to have had the chance, though.

The point was even good teams had the same problem but it’s magnified for Texas. Alabama should have lost to sc. Georgia should have lost to Florida. Many more. Ole miss should lost to Kentucky. None of that matters, just Texas games is the point. No biggie tho. Get em next year

A whole slew of teams across the land lost only 1-2 games, making it hard to overlook our stumbling losses and unimpressive wins vs. several mids. We also were pretty bad on the road, and I can see how a third party skimming highlights of our home win over Vandy might view us as lucky to have gone 9-3.

In short, we gave the committee all the ammo it needed to justify ignoring us. That said, there aren't 12 teams I'd favor over us on a neutral field next week.

Because it's the SEC-cupcakes way.

Anyone still think big OOC games are worth it? "But we did what's best for the sport! Yipee!!!"

Well, there is a non-zero chance tOSU or Michigan pulls the plug on playing us in Austin.  I wouldn't be upset if they did.  They'd have to pay us.

Not only do tough OOC games get held against a team, teams also get rewarded for playing FCS schools.

Anything less than what I suggested is a massive mistake

no. but im $ure tho$e higher up$ with the NCAA didn't mind a 1v2 opening week match up with Ohio $tate

Yes.  I do not want to see Sam Houston State at DKR.

Teams aren't punished for playing 1 FCS team on their schedule. Instead of playing an FCS team, Texas schedules a conference USA or sunbelt team. I don't think subbing a CUSA team for a southland team is much of an advantage.

Maybe. Michigan should want to do it and next season Ohio St doesnt have the cake walk to the Big 10 title game they had this year. They get Indiana on the road and Oregon at home. Had neither this season.

Honestly the SEC and Big 10 as conferences should get together and collude to cancel all p4 non con games across the board. Tell the NCAA to change the system or get fucked and enjoy a September with zero games anyone cares to watch.

I want to see them at DKR in September so we can see this team playing playoff football in 2026. Not some glorified garbage scrimmage no one will watch.

Wow, wow. They still actually put BYU ahead of us, even after yesterday. Committee is completely detached from reality.

they had to

if we were on the board this morning the lying deceitful committee would have had to address the "big games not held against you" bullshit and every metric not named 3 losses and eye test

Why?

Entertainment? The playoffs would be more entertaining to me.

Bad look? No one cares. Look at Indiana and Tech's OOC schedules. Everyone is glazing them today.

Since this is exactly what SHOULD happen, that is exactly why Texas won't do it.

CDC is already on record saying the Big OOC games are good for the sport and we will continue to do it, if not even lean into it.

If we had played Sam instead of Ohio State, we would be in the playoffs. Unfortunately, people with your reasoning skills are calling the shots for our program and NIL, which is why Tecah and aggie are in the playoffs and we aren't.

Guaranteed to do that against a non con schedule of UTEP, Sam Houston St, Wofford, and UMASS.

That's the whole point of this.

And 65% likely. I had us as #5 of 5 sec teams in the playoffs. I thought OU getting to 10-2 is what knocked us out. That would have made me correct. But it wasn’t. They literally decided that all that mattered was counting losses so I was wrong. This whole thing was a probabilistic thread and as it turned out we were always never going beyond counting regular season losses regardless of what they said.

15 minutes ago, Tex Pete said:

They shouldn't. We should be 0-11 this year.

Let's not forget that OU is actually a 3 loss team. They should have lost to Auburn but that blown illegal substitution call wasn't called

I quit reading the rest of your babbling, whiny bullshit after this.

You really want the committee to be taking into account what would be the best TV ratings?  WTF??

ESPN paid 9 billion for this and also it’s supposed to be entertainment, so… no what the committee should be tasked with doing is making sure they screw up maximal enjoyment of college football both for this years playoffs while also fucking up fun September games longterm. It was aces dude!

It is crazy that we wouldn't just schedule tomato cans when we will never have an SOS less than probably 25.  teams with SOS in the 40's and 50's get in.  we can play teams as good as tOSU, Mich, ND, Clemson, etc in Dec.

1 hour ago, chemHORN said:

Well you can get players hurt though so there is really no point in playing in it.  Teams should just opt out of it.

where are all of the negs for this logic?

I would be surprised so many people here are too stupid to understand this very very simple point, but the last decade of bearing witness to America's insanity has shown this level of stupidity is standard here.

People who get all hard about a fucking September game that they gladly want to sacrifice playoff runs for them. Same people who love giving all their money to street shell and 3 card monte dealers.

The SEC is Georgia and Alabama’s conference period it will always be that way.

You didn't like the "vibe".  You thought we were about to be "hosed".  You thought we might get in before you saw what you saw this morning and needed to post your feels about it.

Spin away, but you said what you said and, yes Skippy, you thought there was a reasonable chance the Horns would be picked until that vibe showed up.  Teams with no reasonable chances aren't getting hosed when they don't get chosen.  Doesn't fit in the same box.  Sorry...
