Nah. Let’s cheer Florida on beat the shit out of UgA. Hurt them. That Florida loss won’t look so bad

Sarkisian went on the SEC morning show today and doubled down on both Texas deserving to be in the playoffs and reconsidering the OOC schedule going forward. He basically said, with the SEC going to 9

I think we want GT to win out and come out of the ACC undefeated after Miami’s loss. That would put the ACC champ loser with 2 conference losses at minimum, and potentially 3.

If the committee wants to punish Texas for a close road loss to #1 Ohio State over a blowout against Nancy Univeristy, so be it.  That would be monumentally stupid.

It’s 6 of 1 and half dozen of another. Neither outcome really hurts us.

I want GA tech to lose 2. If they don’t I want them to win the ACC. Either way works just fine for us.

If it came down to one of those teams for the last spot, what is Vandy’s argument for going in over Texas and why would the optics be bad if Texas was the pick?

Literally the record.  It’s college football playoff. Not sec playoff.  But I’m not even worried about Vandy. Ole Miss and Tenn are also an issue. Bama aggy UGA ole miss and Tenn are all ranked higher with easier path forward.

Exactly. It’s even written into the committee shit not to do that.

Georgia/Florida is zero-sum for us.

But fuck Georgia. Florida winning is the better cfb karma outcome.

Jesus fucking Christ.

A 9-3 Texas isnt getting into the playoffs above the 2 loss teams we aren’t even gonna play for the sec championship. Aggy ole miss bama will all have better records than us.  Put the fucking crack pipe down. Even if we beat UGA and aggy. aggy ole miss and bama have fucking paper soft schedules remaining and they aren’t sticking 4 sec teams in the playoffs

If we win out we are in the playoffs and probably get the SECCG week off, and that might be good for this team.  Bama, Aggy and Ole Miss all have the inside track on us to CCG while having easy remaining schedules.

We aren’t gonna get punished for the 1 loss. We will be punished for the Florida loss and the ass we’ve played the last few weeks. If blowu ends up getting wrecked the rest of the way like they should that top 10 win won’t factor for us which means blowu needs to stay relevant in the rankings some how.

If we were guaranteed to go 9-3 with a loss at Georgia we want OU and Georgia to win today. It’s more fun to root for them to lose so that’s what I’m doing. Either of them winning is good for us. Root for Vandy to win out- that makes our win better, puts another loss on TN and as already explained they ain’t going ahead of us.

Ole miss yes. Not aggy really. I mean- maybe if there’s 3 way tie fuckery.

I don't see it with 3 losses and that’s fine

Amen. We still have to beat bye next weekend

You can never beat a bye week. But you can't lose

I usually root for OU to lose every weekend but I kind of want them to keep this coach around that Sark pegs in the ass.

There’s that too. 9-3 OU with a win over TN and a loss to Bama is pretty much perfection for us for a host of different reasons.

Not germane to this thread.

You guys are missing what the situation would likely be.  It's going be like 9-3 Texas vs 10-2 Virginia, 10-2 BYU, or 10-2 Louisville.  Think of it like that and say we won't get in.

Yep, the committee came out before the season and said you wouldn’t be punished for losing to a P4 OOC Opponent on the road, compared to someone else who beat McDumbass Tech State College of the Blind by 42

Honestly for anyone that thinks Texas get special treatment just look at this year. Texas loses to Ohio st on the road the current number 1 team and played them closer than anyone else they’ve played this year and then we lose on the road to Florida and drop out of the top 25, beat ou handily by 17 and have won now 3 close games while ou loses at fucking home and is still ranked ahead of us. I can’t remember a season where  top 5 sec pre season team lost two games and dropped out of the top 25 and wins 3 games and is barely moving up. I’ve seen sec teams lose and not budge or move up a spot.

If we lose another game we’re are out. It would take a ton of other parts to move for us to be in. So why not just win out. Fuck 9-3.

If Florida beats UGA which at the time of my post is more of a possibility than it was 2 hours ago, suddenly our loss to Florida has to look better.  The same media talking heads who will try to influence the committee members will not be able to ignore a two loss Texas and UGA who lost to the same team in conference to date.   I bet we are on the edge of cracking the top ten if not in the top ten when the poll comes out tomorrow

I think it's a bit of a big jump but if Vandy was #9 then we're top 10.  They just won't slot it that way.

We should have a good idea when we see the CFP rankings on Tuesday. If Texas is in the top 16, I think we have a good shot if we finish 2-1 with a top 5 win over aggy

Already conceding to 9-3?

The computers, while not perfect, have favorites against Aggy and Arky and losing to Georgia. So if it plays out like it should…..

But CFB never fucking does, does it?

What is the point of the committee then?

A question long asked since the BCS days.

Dont look now but Florida is turning up

The BCS was a computer algorithm. The committee started with the playoff

Nah we want to beat them in Athens as a top 5.

What if I hope we don't?  I liked it when losses mattered in college football

We hold tiebreak over both aggy and Ole Miss, but don't make it in with a 3-way tie.

Just as long as Oklahoma is still above us.

We wouldn’t get a bye so I’m fine with treating that weekend as an extra week of prep

Yep. What gets us left out is if it’s a 12-1 BYU or something like that which loses in the big 12 title game.

This is why Bama was left out for SMU last year.  SMU lost a P4 non-conf and in the CCG.

Edited by JBJ

So with wins over two of the four teams ahead of us and having a single loss, we would have head to head over everyone aside from potentially Tennessee and Ole Miss. they would both get in ahead of us?

No. This is a theoretical thread. If we go 10-2 or 8-4 nothing isn’t the talking about.

Of course. It makes way more sense to have it in every game thread, weekly thread or random games around the country thread. Som of a bitch man there’s a reason this is the hottest thread on the board and that’s not because it’s an irrelevant thread that doesn’t need to exist

Yep. And that’s why it’s a 65% chance and not a 90% chance. 11-2 Ga tech that lost in the ACC title game would be almost a perfect analog to last years SMU

Marcel Reed might set an NCAA record for passing yards against this shit secondary.

Because you have about one out of every four posts. You’re running up the post count.
