Holy shit you dipshits: 9-3 Texas is probably in the playoffs

Brother, if you actually believe that only OSU (maybe Indiana) and every other SEC team are the only teams capable of beating you in week 1, you are so delusional you might actually need psychotherapy.

We ran A LOT in that game. We wouldve beaten most teams. Our defense was feasting.

Sarkisian went on the SEC morning show today and doubled down on both Texas deserving to be in the playoffs and reconsidering the OOC schedule going forward. He basically said, with the SEC going to 9

Yes? Are you kidding?

The problem is we have a stupidly condensed playoff field compared to literally every single other sport on the planet in college football and we let G5 teams into it. That is the issue.

If we ran the same type of playoff as the FCS this would not even be a conversation. You'd be talking about the best path to the title game and seeding.

High profile game, gives the players a real game with real pressure, facing off against some solid offense and defense.

Versus a scrimmage against kids that are not far away from playing at Division II or III or even Jucos.

Really helped us against Florida.

It's not about being frightened, there are no cowards in this program. It's about percentages and probabilities. If you don't believe me, look at our all time record against Oklahoma then look at our all time record against Baylor. You'll find your answer there.

This. if we wanted to play SOS in the 40's or 50's we would have stayed in the Big 12 and scheduled bad OOC.   we are talking about 3 games out of 12 where we choose who we play and we need to have max 2 losses.

9 SEC games is more than enough preparation

You think the sec schedule prepared aggy?

BCS computers with an 8 team playoff no auto qualifier would have been fine.

What?

When did we get comfortable with the notion that we're likely to lose to anyone?

For what it is worth, I think we will beat OSU at home next year. We get a warmup game this time thankfully.

watch OSU buy the game out and Texas schedules UTEP.

No computers. No humans. Cut the shit out. It's ridiculous.

They're acting like our schedule looks like this next year and we have to anchor our schedule with Oklahoma and an OOC blueblood. Guys, this is over with:

@ Kansas St

Iowa St

Kansas

@ Oklahoma St

The last half of the third quarter and the fourth are Stanford’s!   I see a miracle happening!  Lol

I didn’t say that.  I was arguing with the guy that was interpreting that I said we’d be unlikely to lose any other OOC game one as that we couldn’t lose an OOC game.  We picked the hardest possible game one.

Simple playoff fixes:

1. Remove the committee and instead use a computer algorithm.

2. Remove the G5 auto bid.

3. Require at least one P4 OOC opponent so that Big 12 teams like Tech can’t game the system.

It’s bullshit either way.  We get shitty football and no one plays non conference big matchups or add a cupcake no one cares about, or you don’t lose to Florida then it’s not an issue…. WTF are we arguing about a playoff when we lost to team with four wins?

so how would you do it?  Every other NCAA sport does it that way.

Yea, especially if tOSU finds out losing to a top ranked OOC team in a true road game fashion means nothing vs playing pud state.

not cool

Holy shit Batman we played OSU week 1.

26 minutes ago, RoyalBevo21 said:

Ya, it's a shitty system. And every fan of the game should be fuckin pissed and realize that all schedules aren't created equally and that it's really not far fetched that a 9-3 team with a really hard schedule is better than an 11-1 team with a mediocre schedule. But everyone has this obsession with viewing college football like it's 1985 and the AP voters still run the show. It's dumb as fuck.

But it's Texas' job to put themselves in a position to succeed. And going to war with bluebloods and locking ourselves out while BYU, Texas Tech, and, Indiana coast along is not OK by any measure.

This.

I’ll play. We’d kick Tech’s fucking ass. That pussy Morton would be knocked out of the game early.

You have played absolutely no one. Fuck you and fuck Tech.

I’m not the one that went to a barely accredited university that my large 5a west Texas high school colloquially referred to as 13th grade. Retard.

tOSU's SOS is like 40.  they have a 1, maybe a 2 game season.

but it would be funny, although unlikely.

Do us all a favor and chop your fingers off so we don't have to read your bitchass, stupid ass, chimp brained shit posts. No one here likes you or gives a shit about anything you have to say. You could die in the next hour and no one would ever ask what happened to you. It would be like you never existed.

They will expand the playoffs pretty soon because it pays everybody well, network included.

I don't want us scheduling the Colorado School for Blind Basket Weavers because we dropped a game to Florida that we shouldn't have.

The Ohio State game had a lot of benefits that beating the fuck out of the University of California - Ferndale would not get us.

University of California - Petrolia (Take "the Wildcat"!)

I heard Petrolia is lovely in late summer/early fall. We should schedule them.

sheesh, you are acting like there is only a choice of ND/OSU/Miami or Texas school for the deaf.   there is a wide chasm between those, like say Louisville or ASU/Arizona or Colorado(for all the Deion lovers) or Michigan State.

I'm not a big believer of silos.  I think a good game outside of the division is necessary, for a temperature of the program. However, if it's not going to be rewarded, then I understand the why risk it belief.

While it's a benefit to both teams, Sark was stubborn, and didn't learn the necessary lessons from the tOSU loss--which is what really set the program back. The problems persisted until Florida cast a strobe light onto them.  Both of those games were winnable, and with the right preparation, could've resulted in a better season.  Sark can be his own worst enemy.

Their fans are complete assholes.  Didn't tell me "howdy".  Didn't show me around their campus.  Didn't drive me over an hour out of their way to my hotel after I ran out of gas because I was used to the fuel gauge location on my car and not the rental. Didn't buy me lunch or dinner. Didn't show up the next morning and drive me hours away to Los Angeles so I could fly out or offer to drive me back to Texas when I missed my flight.

Just complete and utter assholes.

I don’t think getting their shit stomped by OSU week 1 would have made them less shitty because of the experience. They also didn’t play 9 games.

We never beat Maryland.

College football in 2025 is all about having good losses and no good wins

It's looking like the TaxSlayer Bowl, boys. A damn shame.

Fuck the pussy shit, this team wasn’t winning a national championship this year anyway.  I’d much rather go see Texas play at ND or Ohio State than a home game in August vs utep El Paso or whatever.  Just don’t lose to Florida..,  it’s not that difficult to figure out.

We’re facing this because we have 3 losses. It doesn’t matter which teams we lost to.

if we had beaten tOSU and lost to aggy we would still be in this predicament. If we had 2 losses we’re going to the playoffs.

Alabama lost to Florida State, a worse team than Florida with only 5 wins in a weak conference that fot blown out by Florida today.

But Alabama is most likely going to the playoff over us. Why? They lost one fewer game. Even if they got beaten by an OU team we destroyed.

So what's the lesson? Lose fewer games.

How do you do that? Play easier non con opponents.

We stacked the deck against ourselves this season. We're doing it again the next few seasons. We should find a way to not do that if Alabama and OU get in over us because they lost 1 fewer game by not choosing to play the #1 team in the country when they didn't have to do so.
