“Shoot the official”

aigy has forgotten about this penalty that I believe gave them a 1st down (and they still settled for a FG) but they damn sure remember the helmet to helmet that set up the winning FG from Justin Tucker.

1990 Cougar High @ Texas

First game that came to my mind. This was the first Texas game I ever attended. “Electric” doesn’t even begin to describe it. That entire stadium wanted blood, and they got it.

@Chili dog That’s a pretty high bar for a first game environment.

I took my 9 yr old to the TX @ BAMA game in 2023 as his first game and he thought it was magic.

Handful of Okie Lite games you could pick from:

2004 (down 35-7 at DKR; it don’t make a shit)

2005 (down whatever, fuckin VY)

2007 (down bad in the 4th quarter, Jamaal fucking Charles)

The 1998 Nebraska game is worth a watch, just keep in mind the whole time that there was once a day in college football when nobody ever won in Lincoln. Then we came along and, well, look where fucking Nebraska is now…

1996 Texas vs Missouri, one of the most amazing things I have seen in person, and I am not talking about the result of the game:

That was a fun watch.

lose Shon Mitchell in the first quarter, pound em with the future Chiefs 2nd leading all-time rusher.

and Ricky just punishing guys in the 4th after the lightning delay, quickly outdoing his “Baby Earl” nickname they kept calling him.

he was goofy, corny as hell, but I miss Dave Lapham. I try to grab a bit of the Bengals radio broadcast when I can when I’m on the road on Sundays.

You could do a lot worse than an all day marathon of Texas/Nebraska

(For the once loss, just fast forward to Bevo XIII in the Alamodome end zone)

still mind blowing the 15 year run we had against them.

every one of those has incredible moments seared in the memory:

12/7/96 Roll Left

10/31/98 Ricky/47 game home winning streak/standing O from Memorial Stadium

10/23/99 Mike Jones/McConaughey/bongo drums

12/4/99 Bevo XIII/cell phone flop out

11/2/02 Simms/Joel Myers/Dave Lapham

11/1/03 I actually don’t remember this one, beating Nebraska was becoming so second nature

10/21/06 Ryan Bailey/snow

10/27/07  Jamaal Charles 4th quarter

12/5/2009 1 second/Hunter Lawrence

10/16/10 Gilbert/ still the last time Nebraska was ranked top 5

I was at  Halloween party and there was a Nebraska fan there that I'd never met. He was talking about why they left the big 12, blaming Texas for Longhorn Network etc etc. Someone brought me into the conversation and said " you're a Texas guy Dennis, why do you think Nebraska left the big 12?"

I said " primarily because they were 1-9 against Texas", people looked at the Nebraska guy in shock I think expecting him to argue with that stat. He hemmed and hawed and tried to change the subject.

1977 Texas v Baylor, featuring Earl Campbell, Ham and Lam Jones, some unknown Texas QBs, and a Baylor freshman linebacker named Singletary.  Campbell goes through a closet of tear-away jerseys.  Artificial turf as cushy as a parking lot.  Color man Frank Broyles has to say good things about Texas for three hours.

ABC shows both bands at halftime and Teri Garr makes an appearance in a beer commercial.  Lots of seats available in the horseshoe and tons of parking around the stadium.  Aerial shots of the brand new Erwin Center and the almost new Disch-Falk.
