November 5Nov 5 Refs and Vegas. there’s gotta be a way to make games swing our way What if an anonymous donor just puts like 100 million on Duke to win by more than 10 1/2 will that then make Vegas call the refs to make sure Texas loses by less than 10.5 or win outright ? November 5Nov 5 yeah 15-20 point loss was expected. we competed until about 10min left and the foul shooting and rebounding for duke got us.

We were never winning this game. There are definitely some bright sides that I saw that look miles ahead of anything Rodney could have done. There are also tons of things to work on, and Miller tends to develop players as time goes. Christ, I hate our fans most of the time

November 5Nov 5 This whole night is just bizarre/surreal. Just 2.5 hours of felating espn personnel, vitale and Duke

November 5Nov 5 It’s barely November and I feel fully prepared for the Boozer suck fest the rest of the year. That pussy fuck would be roadkill back in the ACC heyday Edited November 5Nov 5 by MirrOlure

Bilas + Dickie V love Duke and it was a defacto home game.

November 5Nov 5 Yeah, we were never going to win this one. This might as well been called the Dick Vitale and Duke classic. They are just better, but Texas has some guys that will get better as the season goes on. I had hoped we could be more up tempo and get some easy buckets in transition, but that didn't happen really. Defense would overplay and leave shooters wide open did remind me of last year as well as the high number of fouls. I think Duke was already shooting the one plus one by the 15 minute mark of the second half. This team needed some time to get it together, but got Duke as an opener. Now they get four games at home against stiffs before heading off to Hawaii. Should be able to work on things during the home stand. Edited November 5Nov 5 by NBHorn7

November 5Nov 5 Showed fight and unlike some previous and more talented Texas teams they didn't wilt like bitches against Duke on the road. Shooting has to improve. Swain can get going but we need more. Sucks that Codie and Weaver can't shoot at all. Makes it hard to play them together, especially with Volk and Traore who also can't shoot. I see a lot of zone looks against this team coming up this season.

There are also tons of things to work on, and Miller tends to develop players as time goes. I think game threads in general bring out the toxicity. I like what I saw. I didn't know what to expect, but whatever it was, this team exceeded it. Now we have a good baseline. I knew there were going to be parts missing from this roster. I had doubts whether we had enough shooters. I had doubts about how much playmaking is on this team. I had doubts about how good we'd play defensively. And all those are question marks. But I do feel like we have the semblance of a legitimate tournament level frontcourt. I believe we have a legitimate stud for a swingman in Swain. And our backcourt has some length and effort. I wish we had more of true point guard, but as a friend of mine pointed out to me, "is that even a thing any more? Florida won the national championship last year with a game runner. Duke doesn't really have a true point guard this year." I just replied I'm old and I want what I want. There probably isn't a team on the schedule with as much length in the backcourt as Duke. We couldn't run transition because the guards had to help rebound defensively. I'm interested to see how the team evolves this year. It's about Miller creating an identity for this team, and establishing what he wants potential incoming players to see so he can upgrade the roster. This was the opening salvo, and as should be expected, mixed results were achieved. A little irritated by the coverage. I expected this on some level, but the fellating of Duke and Boozer exceeded my expectations. By a lot.

Have to rewatch to see how we got blown out.
November 5Nov 5 I’m very impressed with the team Miller has assembled. I think he will be proven to be a very good hire with time.

Have to rewatch to see how we got blown out. Texas really held their own for 35 minutes but the superior talent of Duke absolutely took over at the end. As most people expected. And we won't face many teams with the perimeter defense of Duke - Scheyer is a really good defensive coach. You can tell this team hasn't had a chance to learn to play together and chemistry isn't there yet. The goal is to continue to get better over the course of the non-conf and into SEC play.
November 5Nov 5 Author i can see that most people are pleased with the performance, but i dunno. there were definitely things that looked better than rodney terry’s teams, but that’s a low bar. we can’t shoot and we have no facilitators. that’s the bottom line for me. this looks to me like the type of team that rick barnes used to field that everyone ended up hating so much: size, aggression, rebounding, but no shooting and no floor leader. i’m sure we’ll compete hard, and maybe win a couple of games we shouldn’t, but we will also have some bad losses, and some ugly wins. no shooters and no point guard is really bad combo in 2025.

November 5Nov 5 Author if a blind person had the broadcast on they wouldn’t have even known that Texas was in the building. the entire broadcast was dedicated to all things duke.
