Waking up in NYC to the Mamdani win, the end of Cuomo's political career, and the Bergdorf holiday windows under construction all point to a great holiday season.

I don't think many of us are ready for election predictions just yet. There's a shit ton of scar tissue there.

As long as a certain someone on this website doesn’t post here before the night ends, I’m hoping we will be good.

I am kinda worried Elmo got involved late #conspiracy

I hope everything goes very badly for Trump.

Did everybody vote in our exciting proposition election? The 18th District finally gets to replace their house rep.

Your last note is less of a prediction and more of an observation.

If NJ is close, that seems like a bad sign for the Dems overall.

I went to vote, just town mayor and a couple of commissioners on my ballot. Two MAGA running for commissioner including one j6er, so I wanted to make sure I adhered to my pledge to vote against those fuckers at every possible opportunity for the rest of my life. I guess small town/growing suburb elections will be this way but it was a very 65+ crowd, I’m not optimistic. Especially because the more left leaning candidate has an Indian name.

surely Mamdani wins?

Popped my first mail in ballot cherry in CA with this.

Not necessarily. NJ has been trending purple for a while. I think Citronella only lost by 3% in 2021

The VA Attorney General race should be interesting.   The dem candidate, Jay Jones, texted some abhorrent shit a few years ago (I understand not anything worse than Dotard truths daily, but held to a different standard).  If Jay Jones wins, despite his texts, it might be a good sign.  I don't expect the governor race to be close, at least I hope not.

Anyway,  we voted a few hours ago.  It wasn't very crowded, but I'm not sure what to read into that.

I predict that I will not lose my race.

I accomplished this by not ENTERING any race, but I'll take my wins where I can get them these days.

Thank god for the mosquito vote.

Spanberger should roll in VA.  Prop 50 is rolling in CA.

The only close one is probably going to be NJ.  I voted for Sherrill two days ago.

These elections really should be easy Republican wins since Trump said his approval ratings are at record highs, prices are down, he’s ended 29 wars, there is no inflation, nobody likes Democrats, and everything is better than it has ever been before.

Damn mainstream media, trans, and colleges.

Not shocking that the first reply is a MAGA mom bad at math who pays Elon Musk for a free website failing to understand projections.

can anyone explain to me what's going on in the new jersey election tonight with an analogy that uses the crudest possible stereotypes of new jersey residents
Ok imagine Lou Diamond Phillips doesn't leave Meg Ryan for dead at the end of Courage Under Fire and she moves to New Jersey and goes to law school. She's running against a bowl of pasta fazool, who is somehow passing himself off as the ideological heir to Christie Whitman despite being crazy MAGA

Loudoun County, in northern Virginia, was the sign of apocalypse twelve months ago for Democrats. Most of the vote just came in. (AP estimates 79%.) Spanberger up 26%. (And Jay Jones up 15%.) Four years ago, McAuliffe won it by just 11% on his way to a 2% loss.

Some Bluesky libs have been complaining for months about what a shit campaign Sherrill was running. Sounded like Colin Allred but with “I played military” instead of “I played football” and nothing else.

down ballot in GA statewide

WHOA. Via @decisiondeskhq.bsky.social, it looks like Democrats just flipped BOTH *statewide* Public Service Commissioner seats in Georgia. That seems...significant.

Oh good we get to take a huge dump on Bill Ackman's face tonight AND he's not ready for it.

Update #2: Ackman is still convinced Cuomo is going to win, and has proposed Cuomo adopt the slogan "MNYGA"

I forgot Bill Ackman existed for awhile. It was pleasant

if you know who Amanda Litman is the meaning of this may be significant to you. If not, well, not so much.

I was born & raised in Fairfax County -- seeing two Democratic women sweep the top of the ticket in my home state is really something that teenage me who wrote papers about the history of women in politics could never have believed.

NJ polls are closed.  Sherrill is winning and outperforming Kamala Harris and Murphy (current governor).  Fingers crossed.

I have to say I really like Michael Steele.

Yep. Lots of good upper class money in NJ, despite it's awful reputation. I think most people think of Elizabeth or Trenton before Morris Point or Montville or Paramus area

I'm honestly surprised by this. Love it if so, if for no other reason than I had to pass eleventy billion Miyares signs on my way to work today.

The only thing I know about him is what was revealed from the leaked text messages, and that is why I want him to win.

Also a much more rural or at least wooded state than people give it credit for.

Mikie is kicking ass.  Most of the most populous counties are reporting.  Fuck, she even won Atlantic County, and that's Trump country.

72.9% of Mercer County (I'm in there somewhere)
