November 8Nov 8 https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6788453/2025/11/07/baylor-cfp-mack-rhoades-sideline-altercation-investigation/ Rhoades, who is currently serving as the chairperson for the College Football Playoff selection committee, is alleged to have taken exception to a gold, long-sleeved undershirt worn by Baylor tight end Michael Trigg during the Bears’ home game against Arizona State on Sept. 20. According to the source, during the first quarter, Rhoades grabbed Trigg by the shirt on the sideline and, while using an expletive, questioned why he was wearing it. The rest of the team was wearing dark-colored undershirts. Members of the coaching staff, including head coach Dave Aranda and tight ends coach Jarrett Anderson, later had heated words with Rhoades about the incident, the source said. The incident had a lingering impact on Trigg that day, according to the source.

November 8Nov 8 Sounds like Rhoades might have a lil drinky problem. Only a drunk would get that aggro about something like that.

November 8Nov 8 OK Recognizing that this is definitely not the "it" I immediately assumed that Baylor football was "at" again (and, for the record, I am very glad for the women of McLennan County and the world generally that Baylor football does not appear to be "at" that particular "it" again. Or at least, that we know of at this exact moment), Mack Rhoades sounds like a dumb fucking cunt who should have far, FAR more important shit to worry about than whether a middling tight end on his likely 8th place Big XII football team is wearing a fucking gold undershirt. Get some motherfucking perspective, you self-important fuckbake of a cocksmoker It sounds to me like Baylor has exactly the kind of smooth brained, window licking AD that that stain of an "academic" institution deserves
November 8Nov 8 Finally read the whole story. I don't like Baylor, don't care what happens at Baylor, and wouldn't mind if Baylor ceased to exist. But when I read that the initial response from the administration was to require the player and assistant coach to apologize to the AD for the incident. What the holy fuck? I have a new disgust and hatred for BU's administration and its douchebag athletic director.

November 11Nov 11 Here's a shocking update that no one could have predicted: Quote Defensive lineman Shawn Oakman has been suspended indefinitely for violating the Canadian Football League’s gender-based violence and harassment policy, which led the Montreal Alouettes to release him on Friday night. According to a press release, the league was made aware of allegations against Oakman on Thursday and immediately initiated a third-party investigation, which included interviews with the six-foot-eight, 280-pound defender and complainant. According to the league, the investigation revealed that Oakman allegedly threatened to send sexually explicit material to an intimate partner’s child, who is a minor. His actions breached the league’s gender-based violence and harassment policy. “The Canadian Football League takes violations of our gender-based violence and harassment policy with the utmost seriousness. Our policy is clear, and our commitment to enforcing it is unwavering. Following review, we have made the decision to suspend Mr. Oakman indefinitely,” CFL commissioner Stewart Johnston said in a statement. The league stated it condemns gender-based violence in all forms, including but not limited to intimate partner violence, sexual violence, sexual assault, sexual harassment and verbal abuse, coercive control, as well as disrespectful and demeaning attitudes which foster violence or violence tolerance. Whether these behaviours occur in public or private, gender-based violence will not be tolerated by the CFL. Oakman was signed by the Alouettes as a free agent in February, though Montreal chose to release the veteran following the league’s decision to suspend him. “We hold everyone in our organization to the highest standard of integrity and respect both on and off the field,” general manager Danny Maciocia said in a statement. “We’ve decided to release Shawn Oakman because his actions go against our core values.” Through 76 games in his CFL career, the 33-year-old registered 156 defensive tackles, 27 sacks, five forced fumbles, one interception and one special teams tackle. Oakman won a Grey Cup with the Toronto Argonauts in 2022. He’s been named an East Division all-star three times and earned one All-CFL nod.

I've always wanted to like the CFL. I think I would probably really enjoy it if I could be bothered to figure when and how to watch it. But the fact that they EVER allowed that particular wank stain to suit up and get paid to play for any amount of time, let alone a period of apparently FIVE FUCKING YEARS, does not speak highly of their league. At all. The Alouettes and the CFL should be ashamed - and maybe even liable in some sense

November 13Nov 13 LOA from Baylor. Now being replaced as CFP Chair. *** The moves come hours after Baylor athletic director and selection committee chair Mack Rhoades took a leave of absence from his job for personal reasons amid a university investigation. "We are deeply appreciative of Mack Rhoades' leadership and service as chair of the College Football Playoff Selection Committee this season," CFP executive director Rich Clark said in a news release. "Mack has informed us of his decision to step down for personal reasons, and our thoughts are with him and his family during this time. Rhoades told ESPN on Thursday that he initiated the leave from his Baylor role but declined to explain why. Baylor told ESPN's Adam Rittenberg that the university received allegations involving Rhoades on Monday. The allegations do not involve Title IX, student welfare or NCAA rules and do not involve the football program, indicating it is a separate incident from Rhoades' alleged altercation with a football player during a September game. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/46953809/arkansas-yurachek-named-cfp-chair-utah-harlan-returns Edited November 13Nov 13 by MuellerHorn

November 14Nov 14 At least with a Baylor guy as the committee chair there was never going to be a direct conflict of interest. Oh well
November 21Nov 21 AD Rhoades officially gone. As for this: According to sources, the allegations presented against Baylor AD Mack Rhoades are centered around his involvement in an outside incident that breaks school’s Christian standards rules Sources say this involves an outside relationship. Well, we know that "non-consensual" relationships aren't a problem. Kinda makes you wonder about what is actually problematic for Baylor. Wait, maybe he was in a relationship with a younger woman and it WASN'T non-consensual or predatory, and the Baylor athletic code just doesn't want someone setting a terrible precedent like that?
