Games I wish we would schedule, solely for the road trip

Bye week musings.

We should play at Hawaii at least once a decade. I don’t care if the rainbow warriors come here, I just want an excuse to go to Hawaii.

We should play at Tulane at least every 4 years. New Orleans is the best city in the south and we should have a presence there so that our fans can get their gumbo and our team can steal LSU’s recruits.

We should schedule a game in Colorado (CU, CSU, Air Force, take your pick) at least every 5 years so that our fans go to the mountains.

And we should go play Washington at Husky stadium so that @immamac can throw a boats and hoes sail gate party.

Where else should we schedule road trips?

Somewhere international, partner up with another school and play a game in Mexico or Europe like the NFL does. Texas is a big enough name and it could be cool for the school. Don’t lose a home game over it though.

Washington and Oregon are my 1 and 2. UCLA again so we can go back to the Rose Bow. Stanford/Cal for another trip to the Bay area and because we wouldn't have the majority of the fans there. I also would love another series with USC. We're forever linked to one another. Screw anything international. Home and homes only. That's college football.

Quoted Twice because I am hoping this happens. Maybe quoting it twice will help this be reality. Ireland is a bucket list/wish destination. I wish the fans could have some input (not the ultimate decision but some weight in one of our OOC games)

We should figure out a home and away vs. all the Academies.

Airplane fuel is too expensive to travel for a game in Hawaii. [/Mack]

Alaska/Hawaiian has an Austin-Honolulu (they stopped the direct flight but the 1 stop through San Diego gets you on an A330 wide body with lay flat seats for the pacific leg) for $2,300 r/t, or you can sit in gen-pop for like $400

I can hit CDC with this on X.  I was busting his ass quite often about baseball (DP) over the last year or two.  I'm no stranger to him.  LOL.

Air Force there

Air Force home

Army there

Army home

Navy there

Navy home

then start all over again.

Yep, make them our mid season game.

If we’re going to get penalized for playing good teams OOC, we should instead play shit teams in cool locations.

Well get on it. If you already annoy him might as well continue. Shit, we should try and play them around Veterans Day. Let's do it before we change the name of our stadium.

Boise is a great town.   PNW stuff would be cool.

No road game where there’s already a bowl we might end up in like Rose or Sugar.

I think Hawaii is still pissed at us for DeLoss cancelling the game about 25 years ago.

The game was fun in 1995.

Hey, you’re playing at Auburn in 2029! What more could you ask for?

Hillbillies, Ho’s, No-neck Monstahs, Lies and Lyahs! Possum Hair Stadium, in which actual live possums scurry before kickoff and our national bird is abused and held in shameful captivity.

Actually, that trip was 1994. We came down to your place in 1995. We had a ton of talented players but, the program was in a downward spiral that came to a head in 1996 with some of the worst football I have ever seen.

The 1994 game featured Curtis Martin’s 251 yards rushing. He was a beast but, you guys came out on top. The next year at your place it was also a good game but, you guys won.

It's romantic and I get it, but there's no upside from a SOS stand point. Plus CS and Annapolis would be cool once for the novelty, but personally I'd never go back. I'm pretty confident many would feel the same way.

hawaii

aloha stadium is actually more dangerous than the south side of pyle - a good earthquake will bring it down - no sandstorm in drainpipes required

the replacement opening in '29 will seat 22k: NO

miles:

AUS-HNL 3765

AUS-GLA 4646

AUS-LHR 4914

and with southwest's destruction of the hawaii market survival class capacity has been eradicated

go price first-class nonstop on aa/dfw or ua/iah

forget using miles on either route - the last time i looked aa wanted FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND round trip 9 months out

Boston College for sure.

Give me more to the north and the east. Pitt for sure. I wouldn’t mind Rutgers, although others bitch about that past trip. Syracuse?

Of course, UW.

No thanks regarding Autzen. Those tickets would be complete ridiculous.

Stanford sure, Cal no.

Wisconsin would be awesome. I actually think many of the Big 10 midwest options would get me interested outside of Michigan State.

Tulane, Colorado schools, Utah, sure.

Miami would be kind of wild, I think.

I would love for Texas to pick up a Dublin game against anyone but Notre Dame.  Dublin is one of the best cities I’ve visited over the years and everyone would love it. Playing ND there? It’s a fucking home game for Notre Dame. It would be population of Ireland against the state of Texas to those drunk lunatics.

Of places I've been that I'd enjoy returning to watch Texas play:

Wisconsin

Washington

USC

Arizona State

CU

Indiana

BYU

Michigan State

Places I'd like to go:

Oregon

Miami

Goopher (sept schedule no Nov game)

Duke or North Carolina (I'm good with both)

Northwestern

Clemson

Louisville

(Note these don't include any SEC teams)

If we're talking smaller schools

UT Chattanooga (vasty underrated city)

Montana State

UAB

San Diego State U

Maybe schedule a scrimmage at Pepperdine?

I'd personally rank my SEC cities:

Austin (because I have to of course)

Nashville

Knoxville

Lexington

Baton Rouge (only cause its close to NO)

Athens

Tuscaloosa

Columbia

(Haven't been to Gainesville)

Yes I left some cities off. We know whay they are and I'm not a fan.

Texas should play in Australia every 4-5 years so that they could build the Texas brand really strong there, ala Dodgers in Japan and Spurs in France, so that every punter and placekicker out of Australia wants to come to Texas. And the cultural alignment between Australians and Texans is decent. Plus Sydney, Melbourne would be a great vacation trip.

Ireland is great and the Irish people are incredible.  They are friendly, kind, generous and helpful.  Dublin is one of the greatest cities on earth.

Lots of repeat here:

Army

Wisconsin

Northwestern at Wrigley

Virginia Tech

Washington

Stanford

SMU @ Cotton Bowl

Tulane

Clemson

So, every single person on the face of the earth hates Vegas? That must have  been quite the task to find an organization so vast that it literally spoke to everyone on Planet Earth to ascertain their opinion on the merits of Las Vegas.

The diversity of restaurants (non-touristy) is very impressive. As are the shows. If you have not been inside the Sphere, it is definitely worth the experience. Try a restaurant called "Sinatra" inside Encore.  Quite good.

Desert golf.

A number of Cirque shows.

A number of the spas are excellent.

And for those who gamble (except for single deck blackjack, I don't) there is that too.

So, you are correct ... if you take away all of the entertainment options and gambling ... it is just like the plastic shitshow built by Jughead.

Basketball tournament there in a couple of weeks and built in excuse to avoid family for Thanksgiving. Win win, going to fly back Thursday for the A&M game Friday.

I love a winner and money for me and my team! Playing the academies doesn't help any of those.

Why are you a communist?

We should be the first team to play a game in space. No excuses. Get it done CDC.

I love Vegas. Restaurants (and not just on strip) Spas, shows, helicopter tours of the Strip, Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam, badass airforce jets flying overhead, a lot of cool lesser known sites like Meowolf, Pinball Hall of Fame and Neon  Museum. Shooting guns you can't anywhere else, off roading in 4 wheelers, shopping (window or for real). Last but certainly not least people watching.

I "retired" from playing poker, don't otherwise gamble aside from throwing $100-200 occasionally at Paigow, don't drink at all and don't sleep with sex workers. However, I still have an amazing time in Las Vegas.
