November 9Nov 9 1) Curb Your Enthusiasm 2) The Wire 3) Deadwood Honorable Mention to The Sopranos, Veep, The Leftovers, and Larry Sanders But those are the top 3 (in order) and no one can argue*. *I am willing to switch Deadwood and Sopranos, but only if you cocksuckers tell me why Columbus deserves a holiday.

For your and others’ memories here are some other series: band of brothers (ish- more like a miniseries) tales from the crypt game of thrones OZ Silicon Valley cathouse (or does this fall under documentary/infomercial) True detective 6 feet under westworld Entourage rome Easrbound and down vice true Blood The leftovers flight of the conchords the kids in the hall
November 9Nov 9 I remember on the original cable boxes, you could slide the dial between 2 or 3, or 3 or 4, and you'd get HBO for free.
November 9Nov 9 HBO is older than me...what? Looked into this and their inaugural broadcast was an NHL game to 365 people. Crazy.

November 9Nov 9 Cathouse with folks like Dennis Hof and Air Force Amy was much more entertaining adult programming than Real Sex
November 9Nov 9 Dennis Hof checked in ahead of me in a hotel in Greenwich Village about 15 years ago. I was starstruck.
November 9Nov 9 3 isn’t enough for a “top” because you have to have the wire, sopranos, band of brothers, and curb at the very least. I think Sopranos is a clear #1 for a number of reasons including cultural impact and what it did for the medium, The Wire is then right there because it is the greatest tv drama ever, and then after that is debatable. Deadwood is up there. Was 6 Feet Under hbo? The Leftovers is underrated. Despite the ending, Game of Thrones was a whole era. 30 minutes ago, Prepuce of Doom said: Bangin' in Little Rock. I love those little hbo docs that stick with you. This is one I think about way too much also, life of crime
November 9Nov 9 1. Curb 2. Sopranos 3. Game of Thrones Seasons 1-6 Love that old intro, gonna see if I can turn it into a Plex preroll intro video. Edited November 9Nov 9 by Dutchrudder
November 9Nov 9 I always liked the original intro. Hearing the current one just makes me think Game of Thrones is coming on, regardless.

The opening where he slowly disappears always freaked me out as a kid. I wonder how well that show holds up today.

November 10Nov 10 Deadwood Early Game of Thrones Veep And I was about to say Bizarre for the introduction to TV boobs. Also for the genesis of Super Dave Osborne. But that was Showtime. Still worth a mention.
November 10Nov 10 Same with Underdog and Prepuce. Gotdam, I hadn't thought of The Hitchhiker in a long ass time. I did like HBO's NFL coverage as well. Thought it was more direct and less kitschy. Fraggle Rock ain't makin no lists though, right?

But the Internet Archive does appear to have all six seasons. https://archive.org/details/the-hitchhiker-s-1-6-complete
November 10Nov 10 Top 3 Miniseries's should be it's own category. And also a category for original movies.
November 10Nov 10 My Top 3 would be, and in no particular order: Band of Brothers The Wire Game of Thrones I have watched all 3 multiple times and plan on doing so again. They are masterpieces, IMHO.

November 11Nov 11 HBO used to be a stop down and I miss those days. Randomly watched a few episodes of The Wire today and such greatness

November 12Nov 12 Rome was the first HBO show I truly tuned into watch week to week...then it bled over to Sopranos, and I've watched mostly everything they've done since.
