November 9Nov 9 Anybody ever use these? Do they work? I'm about to build a patio cover, and I know it's going to be attractive to spiders.
November 9Nov 9 IF they do work, I can’t see them working for very long. Certainly not to the length you would expect the paint to last. If that were the case then wouldn’t there be something better on its own that didn’t need to be applied every 12 months or fewer? I use some kind of deal that hooks to your hose. I spray the house with it 3-4 times a year. Seems to do alright. The big kicker is a lot of insecticides seem to have a really short effectiveness on spiders. Hopefully a chemical guy pops up with some good details.
November 10Nov 10 Just use a high-quality exterior paint. All of those additives are fucking gimmicky and if anything would decrease the quality of what you're applying.
November 14Nov 14 Highly recommend Talstar. Mix about an once of the concentrate per gallon of water. I spray the exterior of the house every couple months. No issues with any insects.
November 14Nov 14 You use good paint!!! no additive to fuck the paint up for some shitty half life of bug protection. And since it's not built, yet. You could always build it and design it not to be attractive to spiders? Or paint it white to mask the webs? I assume you want to do a patio cover with open beams for appearance? If so I can make two suggestions. Just get one of these that will screw onto your extension pole. $13 link to HD You could also buy some sort of extension for shop vac (Hillbilly Engineer says tape and a piece of PVC) if the web remnants still bother you. But my man card says you should stop after the brush and have and adult beverage... Edited November 14Nov 14 by horn4life
