SISU. Go watch this movie. That was an awesome experience. Whole bunch of Nazis getting roasted by a one man Finnish killing machine.

The underwater slit your throat and suck out your air was crazy bad ass

I made a mediocre escape from The Great Escape.  I love that generation of actors but this film did not have 3 hours of content.

You think you could escape faster?

We blew off the Mission impossible series after number 3 many years ago. Tonight we decided to watch 4.

I just don’t get why these movies are so popular. It’s just the same fights, car crashes, stunts, blah blah blah in every one. Why do people eat these movies up?

I think 7 is worth it if you already have Paramount+. Excellent motorcycle and skydiving stunts. Decent twists too.

But I agree with general premise. Nobody wants to watch 150 minutes of stunts. Needs dialogue and humor.

For funny gory horror, The Monkey is a pretty good time. Caught it on a flight.

I also liked Inheritance (spy thriller) although the music might have been my favorite part.

old school. didn’t realize how many years it had been since i’d seen it (at least a decade), and didn’t remember just how much of this movie made up like 50% of mine and my buddy’s vocabularies throughout high school. a couple i’d forgotten about:

”marissa, you’re the lady.”

and

”sorry baby.”

there were several more. also SO many minor characters who went on to be known actors. did you know that

and

IMG_5302.jpeg.56898c05f42c71f75859ee5e3f45ac44.jpeg

were in the frat? i did not.

also, that was back when leading ladies were still 90 lb white chicks who become invisible when they turn sideways. different times.  better movies. WAY better original comedies. oh yeah, and it was a tight 88 minutes. such a great movie.

It could use a little better script but I dug it

Today, I saw A Wrinkle in Time. It's excellent. I read the book as a child, but I have no recollection of it. The book was read by the son. The daughter has been pleading because she loves all five of the books.

To put it simply, "See it with your family... on acid" should have been the slogan.

It could have used Diane Lane as Catherine.  Simon Pegg without the accent was kinda weird.   Passed the time, kept the wife interested overall thumbs up.

Cool Hand Luke

There is nothing supporting this on the Interwebs…but I’m 100% certain that’s Willie Nelson singing Camp Town Races in the scene prior to the egg eating scene

I've been working through the movies of modern Asian masters, so Park Chan-wook, Wong Kar-wai and Bong Joon Ho.

Park Chan-wook is my guy.  I watched Oldboy years ago and I praised The Handmaiden earlier in this thread.  I got to Lady Vengeance and that movie is so much my shit.  Woman is wrongfully imprisoned and puts together a team of a sort to help her when she gets out to get revenge.  Fun first hour getting her crew together and the second hour is devastating.  Park is clearly a deranged person, but he puts together some incredible movies.

I still have some work to do on Park and Wong Kar-wai (In the Mood for Love, holy shit), but I have finished up Bong (great throughout, Parasite is still tops).  It's been a fun project.  May start an international film thread to discuss more.

See for me, seeing it again on the big screen is the juice.

Love this track (updated version with Phoenix is great as well). Was cool seeing them perform it at the Olympics. Angele is a 10.

Indian Summer on Prime. A group of friends from camp reunite after 20 years for a long weekend.

The Big Chill it is not, but it’s a pleasant summer movie with terrific actors that stay in their lane.

Saw Zodiac at the Paramount. Just a brilliant movie. My favorite Fincher film. With a crowd, definitely more humor than I remember, especially considering the subject matter.

Only the Brave.  Fuck that was hard to watch.

This was one of the biggest out-of-nowhere punches to the gut ever for me. I’ll never watch that movie again.

Took the wife to see this for our anniversary after a nice dinner. Beautifully shot and Tony Leung has been a favorite since Infernal Affairs.

Can’t say much for the story or acting, but plenty of action as expected.  I must say, hotdam he’s surrounded with some serious poon. 😳

Hang on, your first Vin Diesel movie was the second xXx movie?

That’s what was on.  Certainly, nothing “xXx” about it.  If I ever watch another, it will be on mute.

Caught Dazed and Confused on cable last night. I know there are probably dozens of pages dedicated to the movie, at one point in time, and I myself watched it daily on VHS for one whole summer and my friends and I could smoke a joint of mexican dirt weed and say every line, but I hadn't seen it in at least 25 years. Still a pretty good little watch. Looking tough!
