March 25, 20232 yr Final thought on Cleopatra: RIchard Burton described Elizabeth Taylor's breasts as "apocalyptic" and said they could "topple empires." Just wanted to confirm they're fucking glorious.

I very much enjoyed it, but I have liked all of Stacy's work and although I am not a surfer, I enjoy documentaries about it. Especially the stories from the 60s and 70s where these globe hopping surfers venture off the beaten path for hidden waves. Anyways, it is free on youtube. Kind of hope someone makes a documentary about Bill and Mike Boyum. Got about about halfway done with the Gerry Lopez doc and am really enjoying it. His deep dive into yoga kind of reminds me of Rickson Gracie.
March 27, 20232 yr Flight. I think this board agrees that Denzel Washington played a great character. But was it accurate? I'm fortunate not to know anyone suffering from addiction. Did he get it right?
March 27, 20232 yr Bowfinger. Its on Peacock. This might be the funniest movie Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy have ever been in. We rewatch it all the time. A clever premise, great cover mic acting and brilliant writing in a story about an Ed Wood style crew of losers who stumble into making a movie.
March 27, 20232 yr The Rough Riders - Two part 1997 TNT movie that was very well done. March 29, 20232 yr 12 Mighty Orphans. True story. Depression era football movie about a Masonic home trying to field a first time team. Better than I expected.

March 30, 20232 yr I had a free afternoon so I went to see Champions today. Such a cool and uplifting movie. I love watching Woody Harrelson so seeing him in this was time well spent. I wish Hollywood made more films with a positive and lighthearted message like this one. It was also pretty funny as well.

I saw that too. While in Greensboro for ACC there was some free time and not much to do there. I agree, it was a good film.
March 31, 20232 yr Amsterdam what a mess if a movie. Seems like a ton of potential for an interesting plot and a great cast of actors totally wasted.

April 2, 20232 yr Rocky marathon on Sundance today. I haven’t seen any of them in quite a few years. I’d forgotten a lot of the details but have enjoyed seeing them again if for no other reason than the nostalgia factor! I will say the fight choreography in the first two looked a lot more realistic to me in the 70’s when I was in HS. Half way through Rocky 3 now and Stallone looks like a completely different person that he did in the first. HGH and the roids have kicked in!!

April 3, 20232 yr 12 Mighty Orphans. True story. Depression era football movie about a Masonic home trying to field a first time team. Better than I expected. Read the book. It’s great. Where is the movie? Would like to see a movie about the author jim Dent, who was a great sports reporter I grew up with, but he had a bad problem with alcohol and is incarcerated at TDC Livingstone serving an 8 year sentence after his tenth DUI and jumping bail and living on the run for a year or two.

April 3, 20232 yr I always thought this one was a bit under appreciated. Brando was good in a bit of a spoof on Mobster Films.

April 8, 20232 yr Operation Fortune - New Guy Ritchie film with Jason Statham, Hugh Grant, Aubrey Plaza and Josh Hartnett. Wasn't bad, lots of explody things and shoot outs, but not your typical Guy Ritchie energy. Slower paced action flick.
April 9, 20232 yr I know it’s old but it was on tv the other night…The Man from Snowy River, 1982. Kirk Douglas being the biggest star. I was still stuck for many years as a young girl about there being snow in Australia. It just didn’t compute. At any rate, the character Jim’s horse, Denny, a buckskin, was a total badass. To say I legit wanted that horse as a present or just to see in person as a kid was an understatement. I recommend watching for the ambiance, the horses, kinda a soapy western (sort of Yellowstone with the soapy plot.) My favorite scene and imo the best one from the movie: Anyway…I wanted that damn horse!

And not even close to Yellowstone. “And “H” is for…?” ”Uh…”Homeless!” Clancy was my favorite character. I really liked the way he rode his horse. As a kid the chase was my favorite part, but after I grew up and understood the movie better, I still get goosebumps when the guy in the sheepskin coat says, “Glory be- would you look at that!” and the trumpets and bull whip start.

April 9, 20232 yr Just watched Knock at the Cabin because it was streaming free on Peacock and my daughter had the ex’s login. I think I over paid for it.

April 9, 20232 yr D&D. I knew it was supposed to be funny but I didn’t realize it was a comedy first. Once I got used to that, it wasn’t bad. I doubt I’ll ever watch it again but I’d be up for a sequel.
April 11, 20232 yr Murder Mystery 2. My kid loves anything Sandler, even the Netflix stuff. It was not a terrible way to spend a couple of hours. Not a masterpiece by any means, but decent. You know what you’re going to get when you hit play but it’s a few hundred miles better than Hubie Halloween.
April 11, 20232 yr Conan the Destroyer (1982) Pretty cheesy and campy watching it now 40 years later. I remember seeing it as a kid and thinking it was the epitome of awesome movies.
April 11, 20232 yr Empire of Light (2022) I really liked this flick. The time setting for me made it great and gave it an emotional punch.
April 12, 20232 yr Babylon all over the pace. It would get me interested in one of it’s multiple “mostly related” storylines then veer off to something else for what felt like an eternity. Watched on a plane so all the nudity was blurred.

April 14, 20232 yr Watched Gentleman Jim this morning. Errol Flynn is James J. Corbett who goes from bank teller, to illegal fight boxer on the San Francisco docks, then World Heavyweight Champion. The only man who ever defeated John L. Sullivan (Ward Bond). Flynn actually trained hard and did all his own boxing scenes. He wound up having a mild heart attack during filming because partying hard all night and doing heavy physical stuntwork all day does not go together well. Alan Hale, Jack Carson, William Frawley and Alexis Smith co-star. Raul Walsh at the helm.

April 15, 20232 yr Fabelmans (2022) Pretty disappointing I thought. I thought the problem was the two lead parents. But mostly Spielburg's usual gift for the comedy of youth seemed really spotty at best. I thought the Aggie Christian girl was the only great thing in the film.
April 15, 20232 yr I thought the Aggie Christian girl was the only great thing in the film. And the moms bush though the car headlights
April 15, 20232 yr RENFIELD. This was a great waste of time. It doesn’t take itself seriously. It’s actually pretty hilarious while being gory. Cage is a lunatic and makes a great Dracula. I have no idea why it autocorrects to all caps.
April 15, 20232 yr Main three characters are just awesome. I’ve watched it numerous times and each time it is fantastic.
