But...there are some genuinely creepy scenes with Natalie Portman are very difficult to watch. Worse than I remember.

The director knocked up his 15 year old girlfriend around that time (she gave birth when she was 16), and there were some cut scenes that were even more sexually suggestive than what's already in that movie

It's still a great movie, although it makes me feel dirty watching it

No, he apparently left the wife he knocked up at 15 for Milla

"Besson's second wife was actress and director Maïwenn Le Besco, whom he started dating when he was 32 and she was 15.[25] They married in late 1992 when Le Besco, 16, was pregnant with their daughter Shanna, who was born on 3 January 1993.[26] Le Besco later claimed that their relationship inspired Besson's film Léon (1994), where the plot involved the emotional relationship between an adult man and a 12-year-old girl.[25] Their marriage ended in 1997, when Besson became involved with actress Milla Jovovich during the filming of The Fifth Element (1997)."

Age of Adeline

Surprisingly good. Mrs Deadpool is really hot and her acting isn't bad. Harrison Ford and Ellen Burstyn were excellent.

Excellent movie. I highly recommend the Japanese release over the international release. Just to see the scene where Koyata needs to be "satisfied" which brings a new meaning to "it takes a village."

The Paper. Hits close to home because I worked for very little money at a print newspaper.

Did I just watch a Glenn Close - Michael Keaton fist fight?!

Not really a dramedy, not really a dark comedy, probably leans into drama more than comedy because it’s Ron Howard.

Interesting premise, a day in the life of the New York Post. Probably runs for 10 seasons on NBC/CBS/ABC if packaged correctly.

Spoiler

Jason Alexander v Randy Quaid, the fight we never asked for, but we needed to see.

Fuck yeah.  I have this poster (signed by Miike too):

Finished reading the book so I gave this a shot.  Not completely faithful to the story but good.  Powell and Loy have wonderful chemistry. I wish they would've featured them more.

Overall I enjoyed it

Just watched Cruella with my kids. It’s much better than a Disney villain spinoff cash grab has any right to be.

They made 13 films together.

My wife just told me she's never seen Twister. I'm making her watch it right now.

Truly. One of the better Disney efforts in the past decade.

I saw this 80s classic this last weekend, and somehow I missed this incest-laden Fred Williamson/Belinda Mayne/Robert Ginty vehicle when I was a young lad.

White Fire is the movie, trailer is a bit NSFW,

Never heard of it but the trailer has that pervy 70s vibe to it.

Given that the director was known for soft core porn, it should not be surprising.

Whats amazing is they were able to mostly restore it for the Blu-ray and it looks great.

This movie freaked me out, when I was a kid. It was a little (😂) less scary now.

CODA - had zero knowledge of it, or that it won best picture.  I think that was the COVID oscars when people (me) lost interest in the awards.  Very very enjoyable movie.

Despicable Me 4

Decent, not great. Despicable Me 1 and 2 were GOATed, all downhill after.

I did love the outro which showcased every character and villain over the last 15 years in all the movies.

Civil War. Interesting. Though I never could tell who was shooting at who.

Is there a thread?

I watched it last weekend, interesting movie. Not what I expected but liked it.

Here's the thread.

Bone Tomahawk on Netflix.  Matthew Fox, Kurt Russell, Patrick Wilson.  The first half is like a Western, Shaun of the Dead.  No zombies; similar humor.  The 2nd half gets, um, amazingly violent to the point at which I was surprised the aforementioned signed up for it.

I got sucked into watching The Matrix last night, even though I've probably seen it 20 times. It still holds up 25 years later (!). Truly one of the best action movies of all time.

13 Assassins: watch it now if you've never seen it. The last hour is nothing but solid kick ass action and samurai badassery.

This movie fucks.

A Few Good Men.

Wife had never seen it.  Don't know how.  It's 32 years old and still holds up.  The 10 minutes with Kaffee and Jessup are as fine of 10minutes in movie history.

Fresh Kills fucking rules.

Imagine Meadow Soprano has a crazy sister, and they live in Staten Island in the 90s. Fascinating story of the family dysfunction the mob life causes.

Why would you marry a woman with such bad judgement.  Is she a good cook or something?

I watch this whenever I'm feeling shitty and need a pick-me-up. Truly the feel-good movie we needed during COVID times.

I remember this one kept getting talked about as "horror" and when I watched it was confused as to why. Till...you know. Same with Hunter/Hunter.

Her poor judgement is how I convinced her to marry me.

Quoting Spackler from the Three best movies you've never seen thread.

Actually just saw Shane last night.  I had started it but never finished it.  It has great mood but gets pretty slow in the second half.

Licorice Pizza.  Had a few redeeming qualities (the sets were a nostalgia trip for me; Bradley Cooper's performance in a small role), but it was basically a big mess.

Godzilla Kong New Empire.

What a fucking mess.  I enjoy these movies but I fucking wish studios spent more on acting, directing and writing. Rebecca Hall is a dollar store Rebecca Ferguson. I wish the rest of the cast was a forgettable but unfortunately, I'm gonna have to live with their shitty performances for the rest of the night.  Wingard is talentless.

These could be great stories.  What a waste.

I watched Minus One recently and it was pretty damn good.

Love Bone Tomahawk.

I mean, I love Kurt Russell in general, but...
